| Normal US tech IPO, blow smoke up everyones arse as to how much potential the company has, oversell the stock, get out in the first year post float, and let the market suck up the losses. Also the mandatory bent exec's selling their shares based on insider information before announcing poor results. |

i'm glad they are on the fall, social games can't be profitable forever, you need quality products.
zynga had one thing going for them, and that was a hub (facebook) where they could get their games out to millions of people.. |

Why are they terrible? I don't like social games, but I doubt that they take money that would otherwise have ended up in "true" gaming companies. If you want to hate something about Zynga and the bunch, it should be that they seemingly have not had one original idea in their entire existence, which I find rather disgusting.
As a gamer I don't like social games, but mainly because they are games you don't get good at. Time + money = being good in a social game. In starcarft 2 rts talent + time (amount of pracc.) determines your placement! |

| I've always had a special place in my heart filled with hatred towards Zynga. Even though it's a shame for a lot of employees who work for zynga as their everyday job, I just can't support anything the company is doing. Facebook games might actually be alright... But the way Zynga is spamming (via "invite friend") and replicating what other people invented is just through the roof uncharismatic. |

1. Summer is usually the low season.
2. Zynga's market strategy is basically copying games and marketing them better than the counterparts.
3. The OMGPOP aquisition didn't exactly help them.

I felt that after everyone heard about it, the company would be doomed to find new fantastic temporarily addicting games otherwise face no profits in their freemium model.

My friends play facebook games a lot less, at least I don't see the "feed my cows" for farmville on peoples' wall anymore. I think people are just learning these games are purely addicting with no entertainment value whatsoever, they just have that magic grasp on people.
The sooner they are gone, the better for the social aspect of the world. |
