I understand there is already a post like this, but its not usually updated. I am writing this post because I usually try to organize Hong Kong Barcrafts, but it either falls through because no one notices or they fall out of contact. So what I am sort of starting here is a Hong Kong Starcraft 2 Club.
What is it? It is a club for people who live in hong kong or very close that are willing to maybe meet up have a few drinks or play and discuss starcraft weather it be online or just a local net cafe.
Whats its purpose? It's purpose is to have a list of members that can be contacted when we want to oraganize an event either by a list of members or by swapping details to send to people. By this method, we can easily PM people that we know would be interested in playing or meeting up for an event.
Any Requirements? -Lived in Hong Kong -Must be willing to meet up -Can maybe atleast meetup once a month
In this way we can organize KOTH's or something like and really get a hong kong starcraft 2 scene firing up. I realy thinkg that there is a small scene already around but if people here about our club then maybe it will get even bigger. If we can get big enough I would love to organize a tournament.
How do I sign up? Just post below or pm me and I will add you to the list. It would be good also if you included some form of contact apart from TL PM in a PM.

I like the idea but Starcraft in HK just isn't as popular as other places in the SEA region like Singapore or Australia. Could be due to the fact that people are constantly going to and from school/uni/work etc overseas which is very typical of HK residents. I was like this before but have settled in HK and am now working here full time. Also take in the cultural norm of studying non-stop for your education and focusing on a career in either banking, medicine or law and I guess it's not hard to see why HK has a VERY inactive community.
I mainly play with an old work collague doing team games and a few others that hang out in the channel 'hong kong', but there are like maybe 10 people max in there. I can ask them to come check out this thread and see if we can garner interest. Would be cool to get something rolling. Drinks, watching streams, playing etc but I will have to get better for sure!
EDIT: Saw the previous threads on barcrafts you arranged before, how did they go? What was the turnout like?

| HK parents will murder their kids if they involve this much with video games. HK wives and girlfriends will leave you instantly also. |

Haha yep I guess there's that too... although I consider myself lucky as my g/f went out and bought SC2 with no prodding from me whatsoever... so far she can manage a pretty good protoss opener... that's hot! |

| The turnout really depended on who saw it and how much time it was posted prior to the event. Out of all the barcrafts I've attempted all feel through because people said they could come but then they were lazy or had something to do etc. so that's why I have started this club in the hopes that it will be easy for regular members to view upcoming events and stuff. |

Yep the SEA version includes Hong Kong which is in English. The Chinese version you see will fall under the Taiwan region. |

I have accounts on EU, NA and KR (NA being my most regular hangout) but I enjoy KR because there is like no lag on that server while playing in Hong Kong. I dont as of yet, have a SEA account which is a bit of a bummer. I am not sure if Hong Kong lan cafe's have SEA or NA versions of SC2 installed. Regardless you can find me on any of those servers at Chanyman.237
PS: I probably wont be able to update this thread for a while as I will be in Seoul for 10 days over Chinese New Year :DLast edit: 2012-01-18 03:14:03 |

The community for SC2 in HK is absolutely tiny. The net cafes are more into LoL/Dota. They just aren't into RTS games as much as others.
I'm from HK too, went there few months ago and I really couldn't find a net cafe with SC2. |
