Starting: Friday 20th January 6pm EST (That's midnight UTC+1) a new Commentary show will go live!
This show will be all about the Dota2 scene. What is happening, where it's happening, who it's happening to and why. Up and coming matches, insights in current events, tournaments, roster changes and team developments and achievements.....
This is a part of the new media section opening up on Dotalicious. We will be adding more shows in the future as well as tournament coverage in forms of casts and streams regurlarly. This is a first for us and we are looking for your support.

Hosts include Favion, Loda, Drayich, GoDz and Aussie.

For episode 2 we would like to start a bit earlier so that it is not so late for the EU community, as we recognize you guys make up a large portion of the dota 2 community. More announcements regarding episode 2 will be coming soon.

| 90mins? seriously? last show I know that was that long was GG Rated for SC2 and wow did that not take off. Hour max guys seriously people just do not have the time for this :/ |

SotG is like 2-3 hours and it is definatelly sucessful. It all depends on how good a show is and how much people like just listening to those popular players talk. I don't expect it to be something like SotG, but 90 mins is doable. |

Who are you, Favion?
I have followed DotA since ~2006 and I haven't seen your name/face in any team/ league/ tournament and now you're hosting a show with some of the most known players out there :D
What is/ was your role the DotA scene or how are you related to it?
a little more on topic:
I didn't watch it from the beginning, butI liked the show. You rarely get to hear the thoughts of good DotA players on certain changes/ heroes besides on some streams. However, a little more preparation and structure would make the show more enjoyable and Aussie's mic was way too low compared to the others. |

| I actually really enjoyed the show. Drayich and Loda are really perfect in a show like this, really liked hearing their insight. I think if you guys keep doing this it will get better and better as you gain more experience(also Aussie should fix his mic). |

@Ghostchanter I understand that it was a bit of a lengthy episode, and it was all really a test. We may go down to an hour, depending on the feedback we get. There isn't really that much news every month regarding Dota 2 currently, and if Valve skips on a patch we're kind of screwed, so it may even be a biweekly type deal.
@SKC Although, we are striving to be the SotG of Dota 2, as I saw exactly what they were able to do for the SC2 community, which is something the Dota 2 community is really lacking.
@duedel I am ESL's new caster for Dota 2. I played DotA for about 2 years, and then switched over to HoN until recently with Dota 2 being released. I was never in the competitive scene for DotA, I just played a lot with friends and some garena (oh god the horror).
@PHILtheTANK Definitely, Loda and Drayich were a bit shy this episode, but as we go along, we will all become better hosts with every show, hell it was just episode 1, and I think it went well for the first episode. Aussie's mic problem was explained in the chat, but we should have discussed it, I didn't even think about the vods. We had audio problems in the beginning of the show and Aussie had to McGuyver his setup, so this won't be an issue next episode.

Try imagine STOG on a one hour schedule, it just wouldn't work...these types of podcast need to be lengthy. The League of Legends equivalent goes on for like 2hours+, GiantBomb podcast easily goes on for 3hours sometimes. STOG usually 2-3hours.
If it is a podcast where it is just you talking then an hour seems reasonable, but when there's multiple co-hosts + guests...you just need more time.
90mins time limit really was far too short.
The 6.73 discussion that could have been was missed and instead we kinda got a rushed view on what everyone though, which is a shame when you think about it because how often does something like this come along?
IMO, adopt the mantra which STOG, STOL (LoL STOG) and Giantbomb cast have with their cast, give plenty of time for your guests to talk and don't be afraid to go well over what you planned for time if it means you will get insightful discussion out of it.
Instead of wrapping up topics based on time those podcasts wrap up topics when it starts to go off topic or when what needs to be said has been said.
Overall I liked it, but as I stated, it was a shame you had to limit yourself to just 90mins, it would have been such a better cast if it just went on longer to give the guests more time to go over their thoughts on the 6.73 and other patch changes, IMO you missed a great opportunity thereLast edit: 2012-01-22 23:16:34 |

The time limit is up in the air, I kind of thought about just tossing the time limit out the window, but unfortunately it's hard to do with our schedules, we're pretty busy with other things and we have to sleep, as it's pretty late for our swedes.
@red_b If we get a large enough request for this, definitely possible, perhaps we could migrate to itunes for this or something, I'll see what I can do. |

I really liked it. I listened to SotG quite a bit at work or while driving a lot back when I was into SC2, and if this takes off I would very much like to listen to some top names talk about patches/heroes/strategies/tournaments/Dota 2 Drama/etc.
Honestly, the only problem I had was that Favion pronounced courier like carrier. |

It was only intended to be every second week to begin with until it gets more followers and itself gets into a smoother flow.
You are right though that the next show is this friday. it also starts 2 hours earlier.
