| Been a while since I posted in here! gugarutz, on a 2 button jacket, only the top button should ever be done up. Your tailor is doing it wrong. On a 3 button jacket, only the middle button should be buttoned. You NEVER button both buttons on a 2 button jacket. |

for 3 2 roll sure, but otherwise buttoning the top 2 or just the middle is fine, just depends on your choice of look |

| Hey TL, I have issues when shopping for clothes for a one reason, my shoulders seem to be way to broad for any fitting shirt of my size so I always end up with shirts that are either way to long for me or the sleeves end up being too short. I mean, sometimes it gets kind of rediculous when in order to have a shirt fit my shoulders it has to be a XL or a XXL but i wear mediums lol. So any recommendations of brands that run broader shoulders would be a lifesaver to me. |

| Dunno if this has been answered yet but I've been wondering for a while... Whats the difference between a blazer, a sports jacket and a suit jacket? |

| alright guys, whats the best way of washing/ taking care of a dress shirt. I have a few shirts I consider nice( crisp collars and cuffs) but they end up all wrinkley and the crease down the back is being lost. is it necessary to dry clean them? or do I have to bite the bullet and iron them? im super lazy and ironing a shirt every time I want to wear it seams so daunting. |

no dont dryclean, wash them separate (i do it with other dress shirts), best way to dry is by air, and if they're not "non iron,' iron them

| noniron shirts can and should be ironed, they are so easy to iron, a simple glide should do the trick |

Guys, I need your advice. Basically I'm looking to buy my first suit and I thought about either getting a bespoke or just buying it off the rack. I'm currently in Korea and they are having major sales in all the department stores so I figured I should just get it off the rack for my first suit.
I pretty much have a general idea of what kind of suit I want to get after reading some of the posts here and http://www.styleforum.net/atype/5/Styleforum_101
I'm kind of struggling with how the fit should be. The current trend in Korea is to wear it very slim/european. I'm a very skinny guy and have broad shoulders for my frame. Although I need to wear a small size for generally everything, most of the time whatever I wear would be tight on the shoulders. Same thing applies with suit jackets. For example, Korean sizes range from 90-115, and I fit in somewhere between 90-95. 90 is a bit tight on the shoulder for me and fits well everywhere else. And 95-100 fits me well on the shoulder but is a little bit big everywhere else. All the salespeople I spoke to insisted that I go with the smaller size stating that the shoulder is suppose to be tight, that its the trend, etc.
With that being said.. when I'm getting a suit off the rack, what exactly am I suppose to be looking for in the fit? For example, do I consider the shoulders first? The waist? length?
Also what if I decided to bulk up/work out in the near future? If I get a suit that's already tight on the shoulders, it might not fit me if I bulked up a little. What is your guys' take on buying a slightly larger suit in case I decided to work out?
If anyone here lives in Korea or has bought a suit here before please give me some advice on buying suits. |

find a style you like, meaning # buttons(2 is standard), color (navy and charcoal are standard), lapel size (slimmer is more modern), length (shorter is more modern)
for fit, the shoulder area is the most important. this is because it is the hardest area for a tailor to alter since they will have to unsew and resew the arms and that's difficult. this means you should have a tailor measure your shoulder to shoulder length and get a jacket that fits just right at the shoulders. that means the ending of your shoulder bone should hit right where the shoulder seam of the jacket it. also have high armholes.
also make sure when you button it it isn't tight in the chest, indicated by an "x" forming at the button. tailors can fix it but not if it's way too tight.
everything else can pretty much be altered, including taking in the waist, shortening etc. but a tailor can't really make a jacket that much bigger. |

hey anyone know where i can find this sort of top, featured in pic?
price range...£20 or less if possible
i know you can pick them up in charity shops, which is where i got mine, but mine has a crumple at the bottom which makes the bottom part stick out or bulge quite rigidly (its tucked in in the pic so you cant see it so much)
idk what it is called, maybe some sort of jumper with zip idk
ignore the rolled up sleeve. sleeve or sleeve-less is good (preferably sleeve-less imo but that probably doesnt exist.,...)

This. And get mad if they fuck it up (read: Politely let them know they are doing it wrong), nothing worse than just sitting there as they chop lock after lock of swag off your head.Last edit: 2012-07-19 17:31:47 |
