After some hardships, you were finally able to make it back in to Code S in the end.

I had confidence for this Up/Downs. But if I had to make some blames, there is a hidden story behind game one where I opened up phoenix against ByuN. You see, among my teammates, Kim Mo told me to go for phoenixes. He told me I would win no matter what so I went for phoenixes because I believed in him and that was my downfall. I was hurting mentally cause of that one loss. The loss felt like I had sustained three losses. But I was able to make it up like this so I am relieved.

Your immortal all in against Shine was phenomenal. Was the strategy strong or was the player initiating it strong?

I am at a different class when it comes to immortal all ins (laughs). What's different about me than other players is that I put my soul in to my plays. My plays are stronger cause I put my soul in to them. And because I put my soul in to them, I can focus better.

Against Trap, your probe was long distance mining from Trap's natural. Was this on purpose?

I'm not sure if I should say it this way or not but that is basic micro. It's important to make sure your probes aren't just idly sitting around.

Are there any evidences as to why your immortal all ins are so strong?

Rain hyung stated that he saw my play back in WCS Asia and said he came up with a sure victory build order thanks to me. But then he tried it against hyvaa twice and ended up losing. I had a lot of fun watching that occur. There was no soul in his all ins. He also improperly placed his force fields. That's how much soul he's lacking. He can't win.

With today's victory, you've made Code S five seasons in a row.

I had no idea it had been five seasons. I just play my matches without thinking about that kind of stuff.

You are the first Protoss to make it for this season's Up/Downs.

I didn't even think about that fact either. Seed hyung plays tomorrow so I really hope he doesn't make it. He told me that we would face each other for this week's GSTL and he also made fun of me by saying I would be the WCS Global Finals champion. He's been slowly provoking me but I just can't stand it anymore (laughs). That's why I'm also going to destroy that contract we worked out about not doing ceremonies on each other. From now on, whenever I beat Seed hyung, I'm pulling a ceremony on him. Now that I think about it, I should aim for the best ceremony award.

StarTale players occupy the most in Code S. What are the chances of team kills occuring?

If a team kill occurs then it occurs. These days I've even started enjoying the sweet taste of team kills. I don't know why, but I get happier when I win in a team kill situation. It feels like our team's presence has climbed another level so a team kill victory isn't so bad.

What are your goals for this season?

I grabbed the concept of the game this season. I made a decision after seeing Bomber hyung fail to make it yesterday. I plan on taking down everyone who prevented my teammates from making it. This season is all about revenge for my teammates. And then I'm going to go to the finals and grab the championship.

Q: How does it feel to make it into the round of 16 with 2 straight wins in your first time in GSL Code S?
A: I am really very happy. I trained really hard, but when I saw the groupings, even I thought that I didn't have much chance. I think I practised harder during this period of time than I have ever did playing Starcraft 2.

Q: Were you confident before today's games?
A: To be honest, I thought that if I could defeat Puzzle, I would qualify for the next round. I have been playing quite smoothly during my practice too.

Q: You faced Nada in the winner's game.
A: I tried hard not to be defeated by his imposing aura. I thought that if I could play with the same mentality as during my practice, I had some hope of winning.

Q: How did this differ from GSL Code A?
A: In the past, when I saw units like the banshee, I would usually panic. However, in order to let people see that I was Code S quality, I worked really hard during this period to overcome this particular weakness. During the games today, I noticed that I have indeed overcome many of my weaknesses.

Q: There are many players who do very well in Code A, but get eliminated instantly when they get to Code S.
A: I am also not sure why that would happen to them, but as for me, my secret is just to keep on practising. Also, the most important thing is that one cannot be too complacent and neglect practising just because people are giving you attention. I think I still have quite a long way to go. That's what I think.

Q: We are going to carry out the picking ceremony for the round of 16 tomorrow. You are the only surviving player from Code A, and might be targeted by some of the players.
A: Looking at Oz hyung's interview, I saw him begging Nestea hyung not to pick him. I won't do that, whether it be MVP or Nestea, doesn't matter who it is. I think it would be good if I could be chosen first so I can pick an opponent of my choice. Anyway, if I'm going to be picked, I hope MMA will pick me. I qualified by defeating many SlayerS players, so I hope to be able to eliminate MMA with my own hands.

Q: What are your goals for this season?
A: Firstly, I want to make it to the round of 8 to ensure that I can be seeded. For the next season though, I want to at least make it to the finals.

Q: What are your goals for 2012?
A: I hope to become a player who is constantly doing well in GSL Code S. Hopefully, when people think of Protoss, they'll think of me. I also hope to be able to take part in foreign tournaments. Of course, the biggest goal is still be the champion of GSL.

Q: Any last things you want to add?
A: I want to thank the players who practised with me. When I get the chance next time, I will give them a treat.

Q: You seem unstoppable now. How does it feel advancing into the round of 8?
A: There's nothing much to say. I am just happy. It would have been better though, if I were able to clinch first place in the group. Before this, I've never lost, and it's a bit sad to experience defeat for the first time today.

Q: Did you go into today thinking that you'd qualify in first place?
A: Because my first opponent was a Terran, I was quite confident in that match. Even though I must admit too, that my opponent was a really strong Terran, I was confident because the strategies I had prepared for today were really good. MC is really strong too, but I think I still stand a chance in a mirror matchup.

Q: But you lost to MC in the winner's match.
A: In the first game, I had faced the same situation during practice, so I thought I was able to win, except that MC's followup was really strong. For the first game, there was even a point where I thought I already had the game, and was already thinking of qualifying in first place. But I was unable to protect my second base. Even though my opponent had really good control, I think it was mainly due to my mistakes.

Q: You defeated Jjakji, the winner of last season, twice to qualify for the next round.
A: To be honest, I am very confident playing against Terran. My biggest wish this season was to meet as many Terrans as possible. But if that really happened, people will probably thinking that I am all about PvT, so that's not really my wish anymore. I hope to let everyone see my PvZ in the round of 8. I want to play against DongRaeGu. I really hope to let everyone see all my matchups, to let everyone know that I am the Number 1 Protoss.

Q: You haven't played a single PvZ this season. This could work for you, or against you.
A: Recently, I've always been kind of uncomfortable when I have to face a Protoss or a Terran, but as long as I had prepared well, I would be confident of winning. I am most confident in my PvZ, even if my opponent in the round of 8 is the mighty DongRaeGu, Nestea hyung is really strong too, but even if I had to face him, I am confident of winning. I think that facing Nestea would be a better chance for me to prove myself, but the opponent I most want to face in the round of 8 is still Genius (laughs).

Q: Up to now, all the players who have tried to walk the Royal Road have been defeated at the round of 8.
A: To be honest, I feel that as long as I can make it past the round of 8, there are no other competitors that can defeat me. If I make it past the round of 8, I can already look forward to winning the championship. I hope to face MC once more in the finals.

Q: If you made it to the finals, who do you hope your opponent will be?
A: I lost to MC today, and so, I hope to face him again in the finals so as to establish myself as the Number 1 Protoss. If that's not possible, I think facing against MMA is not bad too.

Q: Recently, many people involved in esports, as well as those watching esports, all have a lot of expectations on you.
A: Many fans might dislike me because of my ceremonies, but I think it's better to be disliked than to be overlooked. I just hope people will think on the positive side. Recently, the expectations of my team mates and my friends around me are indeed very high. I also get the feeling that more people are giving me attention.

Q: Any last things you want to say?

Continuing on from last season, this is your second time in Code S round of 16

Arriving in Korea just yesterday, I was worried about having to play today. I only had 10 practice games and hadn’t adjusted to the time difference yet but since it was PvTs, there wasn’t too much of a problem.

What happened in the US was regrettable. Was it hard for you?

I didn’t think anything about it. I went into the game thinking that it was possible for me to lose so I didn’t dwell on it for long.

The fourth set against MKP resulted in a regame

Since I’m only human, I felt a little cheated by the decision but I shrugged it off. I was in the mindset that having to regame wouldn’t matter. I think I was a bit ahead at the end but it can’t be helped. It was bad luck.

Your PvT has gotten even stronger since last season

Frankly, my mirror matchup and vZ are quite weak. I am confident that I can win against any terran though. My vT was already strong but t seems to gotten even stronger today.

Last season, you were defeated by DRG 0:3 quite handily

I made too many mistakes. I’d never been nervous since my debut match but in ro8, I was so nervous. I couldn’t defend against attacks that I should have been able to and overall, just made a lot of mistakes. Since then, my vZ had gotten worse. Also, last season, not meeting a lot of Zergs, my practice against the race was lacking. However, lately, I am practising my vZ a lot so I can win against most Zergs. I can’t say that for DRG but he’s no longer in this season. So I am glad.

Polt is also a Protoss killer. Was he not difficult?

People tell me that Polt is great in TvP. Many even predicted my loss. However, I am confident against any Terran that I meet and I did beat Polt. My confidence in my PvT has grown even more.

In your games against forGG, the opponent was very aggressive. Did you feel threatened at all?

Defending my additional expansion in Set 1 proved to be a difficult process. Going for a rich build, spending too many chronoboosts on my nexi meant that charge was delayed. However, I did not think I was going to lose.

Your image is one of a Terran killer. However, that’s not the end of the story (T/N: they're talking about PartinG's vZ not being as good)

Losing to DRG 0:3 made me think of JYP (T/N: JYP is the opposite, great vZ, terrible vT). I did worry about one of my match ups just crumbling. However, it will not be so. Ah, and of course I don’t mean that JYP is a bad player. I hope no one misunderstands.

You are raising the expectations of those around you. How far do you expect to go?

Round of 8 definitely. In my mind, I have the goal of winning but I think was too arrogant last season. This season, I’ll first get to the round of 4 then really work on my desire to win the whole tournament.

You say you want to battle against MKP

I’m actually great friends with MKP. Whenever I play against MKP, the games are great. Meeting him again should be fun. However, I don’t want to meet him in the ro16. I want a best of 5 or 7. It’s not for the purpose of revenge for GSTL. I care about two things: showing great games and getting as far in the tournament as I can. I have nomination rights for ro16 so if any Terran wants to take me on, I’ll pick them straight away.

I want to thank IMYoda who helped with practice. I also want to thank my teammates Bomber and Sound who helped despite not having adjusted to the time difference themselves. Tomorrow plays Squirtle, and the day after plays Virus and I hope they get to nominate their groups alongside me. In the team house today, July made a mean joke about me falling down to Code A. But I’m still here and I could pick him for ro16 so he should get practising his ZvP (chuckle).

You have gotten into Code S ro8 two seasons in a row

I can’t believe I was able to get into ro8. I will grow even more as a player and show great matches to my fans.

You had an absolute victory over theSTC going 2:0 in the first match

I arrived in Korea yesterday after MLG. It was hard because of jet lag but I couldn’t not practise at all. I practised despite wanting to sleep but I was still worried.
The reason was being hammered by Terrans at MLG lowering my confidence. I did become worried and nervous as a result but never thought I would lose.

How did you feel when your rematch against MKP was decided for the winner’s match?

MKP is someone I am fond of so I wanted to have fun in the games against him. I never thought of it as revenge and just wanted the match to be enjoyable. Then, MKP must’ve gotten angry because he dropped mules in Set 2 and made fun of me saying I got lucky in the previous game. So I got angry too and went for a head on approach. I planned a macro build for Set 3 but changed up my strategy.

As a result, you got your revenge for GSTL and got into ro8 at the same time

I am ecstatic. I can’t think of anything else to say.

You have secured your spot for next season’s Code S. Do you think you’re one of the Code S boys now?

I feel like I am halfway there. It’s a long way to go yet. To be one of the big boys, I think I have to make ro4 like it’s my job.

You are renowned as the Terran Killer and even today, you stomped through two Terrans.

Terrans are a piece of meal to me. I think I will have to go against Protosses in ro8. I have been told that my vZ and vP will be the end of me. Since Zergs have all dropped out, I want to take down Protosses to reach ro4 and the finals.

Who do you want to face in ro8?

To be honest, I want to face Maru who’s a Terran. He’s the one I want to face the most but strictly speaking, I don’t think he’ll make it.
So I want to face MC instead. He keeps being wary of me defending his title as the Protoss President so I will triumph over him, give a great ceremony and take the title of President as my own.

I want to thank STSound who helped a lot with practice as well as Skit who is teamless. Also, I’ve gained a lot of fans. I want to thank you and I promise to continue to show great games.

This is your first time in ro 4 of Code S
Similar to what I said in the ro8 interview, it’s just like a dream. As I got ready for today’s match, I remembered losing to DRG in ro8 of last season. That defeat saddened me so much that DRG appeared in my dreams afterwards. I practised hard so I wouldn’t have a repeat of that and won with luck on my side.

Unexpectedly, you had a landslide victory of 3:0. If you were to evaluate today’s match?

If I were somewhat arrogant last season, I fixed that after my loss in ro8. I changed my mindset after the defeat in ro8 and subsequent losses in the GSTL. I dug deep and thought about all the practice I had to go through to get where I am. I think that is why I won.

The opponent took his expansion before you in Set 1. Did you anticipate that?

Not at all. However, I’ve used such a build myself and practised it too. So I just played based on those experiences and it worked out.

Set 2 wasn’t favourable but as your two immortals kept the stalkers busy, you were able to attack an empty base and win.

Each player has their own style of army control. I focused solely on the immortals. I set all the other units on attack move and controlled the immortals while watching the opponent’s stalkers. It seemed like my opponent was going to take out my immortals before defending. It was partly planned.

Your ro4 opponent is the three time champion IMMVP

To be honest, he’s just another Terran to me. Terrans are a free meal to me and that’s the case for whomever. So I don’t care. I feel like I must get to the finals so that I don’t shame the players I have beaten so far.

MVP mentioned your attitude in his interview and even predicted that you would pull off a ceremony on him.

I plan to save the ceremonies for more interesting players like MC. If I get really excited, I will do one. I don’t feel like I acted too over the top but other people seem to think so. I guess I was a little arrogant but it wasn’t to the level of acting like a champion (laugh). I do resent that statement. That’s also not to say that I will become even more arrogant if I win the championship.

If you had to predict your ro4 score?

My heart says 3:0 but my brain says 3:1. Since it is King MVP after all.

Depending on how the bracket works out, you may have to teamkill Squirtle. Is that possible?

Even if I don’t get to the finals, Squirtle definitely will. I’ve always said that Squirtle is the one best Protoss but his potential just didn’t become realised. Now that he’s showing his true self, he will get to the finals.
If I don’t make the finals, this is his GSL. However, if I do, I’m sorry to Squirtle but I will win 4:3.

Tell us your feelings about advancing into the Ro24.

Recently it seems I've been showing nothing but losses in the GSL but winning like this today made me so happy. Not to mention I was able to beat Killer hyung again like just like the last time I tried to advance for Code S, so I really feel like I'm going to do well this season.

How was today's matches?

When I got into the booths, I got this feeling that I was playing two ladder games. Thankfully everything went as I wanted them to. Killer hyung seemed to play straight into my hands and that is why today went so smoothly.

What is the reason you did not practice for this?

In my opinion, PvPs are 80% luck and 20% skill. That's why instead of needlessly practicing for this, I left it all up to chance. If you get your build orders mix matched with your opponent's, you cannot win. People need to think of PvPs to the equivalent of that of ZvZs back in BW.

Your next opponent is aLive

This is someone I've really wanted to play for some time. So far in every tournament we have ever met, aLive hyung has always won. Since he made it undefeated to the Ro24 so peacefully, I will also peacfully send him straight to the Up & Downs

You have OSL Dual Tournament ahead of you.

The format and progress of tournaments are so much better with GOMTV. As expected, the games I played were just as fierce as they would have been in the GSL. Last qualifiers I wasn't able to talk a lot of smack but if I can no longer say many things through interviews, then I'll just prove it with my skills. If there is anyone out there who has a problem with what I say in interviews, then come after me.

If you had to rate the skills of the KeSPA players?

KeSPA players are not that far from us skillwise but they're not Code A level yet. In any race match up, as long as my build orders don't fail, I think I have the confidence to never lose. Especially against Terrans or Zergs I guarantee my victories. There are a select few within the KeSPA players who are definitely Code A level but everyone else is clearly underneath the level of Code A.

Any last words?

Thank you to AcE hyung and San hyung for practicing with me. July hyung would always scoff at me, AcE hyung, and Squirtle hyung because he was always in Code S and we were always trying to get through the preliminaries. Now that the situation has reversed I hope July hyung gives us more respect (laughs).
Recently aLive hyung keeps bragging that he wins all our encounters. Since I have the advantage in our upcoming match, I want to tell him to prepare his mind for that when he shows up. How do you feel about advancing to the Ro16 as first in your group?

I was really worried about today since I didn't get a lot of sleep and my health was not in the best condition but I was able to advance far more easily than I expected to so I feel dazed.

Was there anything disappointing about today's matches?

I could've defeated Polt hyung by a score of 2-0 today but I ended up giving away a game so that was disappointing. I wanted to make a clean 2-0 sweep and make my way up but I think losing a game hurt my pride a little.

Did you expect to face finale in the winners' match?

I didn't practice up for any PvPs today and had just focused solely on PvTs. TaeJa is such a good player so I knew that that match was going to be difficult but finale played so well that he surprised me. But I knew that I was going to advance no matter what if I had to play a PvP so I was confident.

You don't necessarily have the best PvP score yet you were confident that you would beat finale if you faced him?

Recently I've been winning all my PvPs. Back when I sucked at PvPs it was because I just wasn't practicing them. But after my loss to Rain hyung in the OSL, I've had this determination to extensively practice PvPs as well. So I've been preparing really hard since then and Squirtle hyung has helped me in so many areas where I was lacking so I was able to cover my holes.

You were able to make it to the Ro16 after three seasons so this must mean a lot for you than the others.

I now know what an honor it is to be able to grab the microphone and do an interview at GOMTV. I am glad that I get to attend the group nominations and I also feel like if I pick my group wisely for this season's Ro16, I should be able to make it all the way to the semi finals. Right now I'm booming with confidence so I am confident I can defeat anyone that comes my way.

Is there anyone specific you want to face for the Ro16?

If I get a chance to pick, I am going to grab MarineKing hyung, Rain hyung, and DRG hyung. I am confident that I can get through even a group of death. I especially want to face Rain hyung the most out of these three so I really hope Rain hyung makes it to the Ro16.

Rain won OSL so how do you feel about that?

I can't help but think that I would've been the one standing there on the stage if I had just beaten Rain hyung. Honestly, I'm envious because of his victory but I'm also close friends with Rain hyung so I want to congratulate him. It seems like Rain hyung has been blocking my paths lately so this time it'll be my turn to do the same for him for the GSL.

You've successfully returned to Code S within one season. How do you feel?

During practice, I lost very often to the Terrans on my team. When I thought of how good I was at PvT in the past, I lost a lot of confidence and even worried that I could lose today. But Hack and Coach Yun told me not to worry and to play using my own style, which is what I think allowed me to win today.

You've bypassed the Up & Downs to directly reach Code S.

Last season was my first time playing in the Up & Downs. I had been curious about why people were so afraid of the Up & Downs, but once I experienced it for myself, I learned why. So I clenched my teeth and practiced, and I'm glad that the results turned out well.

You recently became WCG and BWC champion, but you haven't been able to make a big mark in the GSL.

I have been informed that the next GSL is the final GSL that uses Wings of Liberty. Knowing that this is the last one, I want to work very hard to become the final Wings of Liberty champion.

After you won BWC and WCG, you stated that you will also conquer the GSL. Do you think it will be possible?

I do want to become GSL champion, but I first want to win the GSL Tour Grand Final that's right in front of my nose. I want to be a good son to my mother by winning tournament after tournament and bringing in the prize money.

What do you think of the recent patch?

I saw Genius-hyung's interview yesterday, and he whined so much that it was an insult to Protoss. I hope he stops doing that (laughs). For a while, Zerg was way too strong, but with this patch, it's possible for the truly skilled players to win.

You won both of your games in the series using all-ins.

Before, I would win using greedy play, but I felt my Terran practice partners adapting to my style during practice. Because of that, I decided not to play greedy but to use only all-ins, and I gave myself confidence by telling myself that I was good enough of a bastard to make this work. My Immortals were powerful even in PvT, and those three Immortals that I used are worthy of praise.

You fortunately won the first set, and you looked really gleeful at the time.

I didn't have much confidence because of how often I lost during practice, and it even got to the point where I was whining to my coach before the game, so I felt ecstatic when I was able to win so easily today. I apologize to my opponent, but it was hard to suppress my emotions; I do understand the feelings of a rookie. But because I know that he looked down on me during his interview, I only feel 30% sorry for him, and the other 70% of me wants him not to screw around with me (laughs).

Currently, there is a vote by the fans underway for the awards ceremony. Are there any appeals that you would like to make to them?

Because of all the ceremonies that I performed, I want to win the ceremony award very badly, although now that my results have been good recently, I also desire the other ones. I'll always try to stay a hot-topic player, so I hope that you vote for me. Objectively, Seed-hyung doesn't measure up to me when it comes to ceremonies, so I'll be very disappointed if he ends up winning the ceremony award.

Do you have any last words?

I want to send my thanks to Sound-hyung, Harrier, and Sparta-hyung for helping me practice to the point that I was able to overcome my lack of confidence. I'll treat them to some chicken when I return to the team house, so I hope that they wait without eating before then. I'm incredibly happy that I was able to return to Code S. Finally, I'm thankful to my team's sponsors, Red Bull, Joy Gear, and Zowie Gear.

Tell us how you feel about advancing out of your group as second and in to the playoffs.

I felt like I had lost the final match after I lost my army when I went to attack. But then I saw an opportunity once DRG hyung started doing ceremonies with his zerglings. I'm good friends with Leenock on a regular basis so I decided I was going to do him a favor this time and went for an all in rush so that I could win for him. I feel so good because it worked.

Were you confident that you would make the playoffs?

I felt like I was going to easily advance. I was even confident for my match against Leenock but I didn't prepare extensively enough so I lost. While it would've been great for me to receive a day to rest by advancing straight in to the semi finals, I don't think the alternative Ro6 road is all that bad since I'll be able to slowly gather up more and more confidence with each victory.

Any match that you particularly remember from today?

I remember the matches against HerO hyung and DRG hyung really well. I've never lost to HerO hyung before so I am glad that I was able to keep my pride with yet another victory. Against DRG hyung, this match will remain in my memories because I was able to give Leenock a gift of first place within our group with my victory.

Who do you think will advance out of Group B?

I think Life and Sniper are going to make it no matter what and I think the final spot will be a battle between viOLet hyung and Rain hyung. Personally, I want Rain hyung to advance out of that group as third. Rain hyung is the reason as to why my PvPs have improved so drastically so I want to take this opportunity to face him again. I also haven't seen him in a while so I want to to meet him on the stage.

You gave pizza to the audience today.

I wanted to spend my WCS winnings for the fans. For a while my teammate hyungs would often treat me to meals since I was unable to make any money for myself. So I told myself that if I ever won anything, I would repay them for their favors. Since I was able to earn $100,000 I decided that it was time for me to treat.

Are you confident enough to win the championship?

Honestly, I don't want any Protosses to make it to the semi finals. I want to be the lone Protoss hope in the semi finals. I will win the Blizzard Cup and become the world's best Protoss.

Anything else you would like to say?

I want to thank teammate Hack for helping me with practice and teammate Bomber hyung for helping me to understand how to take down Mvp hyung. Squirtle hyung didn't help me with practice but he did help me strategize for my matches so I want to thank him for that. After a dramatic victory, you advanced to the semi finals.

Up till this point, every player that I defeated was someone that I had to grab revenge against. Mvp hyung, DRG hyung, and viOLet hyung was also someone I needed to grab revenge against. I am glad that I was able to beat everyone that I needed to grab revenge against. It was difficult sure, but I am even more glad that I was able to really fun games against them.

You started off with a 1-0 lead but then how did you feel after losing two games in a row?

Honestly, game one was a very easy victory for me but I made too many mistakes for game two. I let me guard down and I wasted away my units. I was most disappointed about game two. If I had just played patiently, I could have won game three as well. I was originally expecting a 3-0, but oh well.

Was the fast mothership strategy for game four a planned out one?

That was a strategy that I have always wanted to use and I finally got the chance to today. In order to earn the support of the 300,000 Protoss players in this world I gathered every single Protoss user's strength. Which is why I named this build order, "the Spirit Bomb". (LOL @ DRAGON BALL Z REFERENCE) It ended up working just like I thought it would. Honestly, I got goose bumps once I queued the mothership. I felt a little anxious once my mothership died because originally, it wasn't supposed to die.

Game five was also a difficult victory. Around when did you realize that you had won?

I didn't feel anxious but rather felt confident. I thought to myself that I had won as I went in for the final attack but I kept on worrying about making the same mistake that I did against DRG hyung. I was able to focus well however because I remembered back to the time when I was immature and ended up making that mistake.

You are the only Protoss in the semi finals. Isn't that burdensome?

Honestly, I am lonely since I am the only Protoss user and there aren't even any Terrans. But then I look at it from another angle and I see it as a good thing. It's a chance for me to get even more attention and I can put to peace all these notions that I am horrible at PvZ. I thought that it was really unfair that I was known as an all iner and that I never got to show my best form. So I practiced really hard on my PvZ so that I could grab my victories through macro.

Lately, your immortal all ins have been getting blocked pretty often. Has the effect worn off or do you just not have enough soul?

There is no such thing as an invincible build. I never thought to myself that this build was fool proof so I strategized with Squirtle hyung a lot because I knew that there was still a lot of room left for Protoss to grow as I practiced really hard. The immortal all in build order has reached its maximum potential. While it's true that my version of the build order is still the strongest, the top Zerg players can all block it.

What do you think your semi final score is going to be?

I lost to Sniper in the last season of Code S Ro16 by a score of 0-2. Back then, I had no patience. Of all the Zergs that I know of, I consider Sniper to be the best. Regardless of who wins I am expecting a 3-2 score and that the match will be really fun.

Anything else you would like to say?

I want to thank my Zerg teammates, Curious hyung, SoN, and even though he didn't help me with practice, he still cheered me on and told me that I was going to win, so Life. Tell us how you feel about advancing to the finals.

I am glad that I was able to advance to the finals within the battle of stars. I previously stated that I would win one more time after winning WCG. I will accomplish three championships and keep my word.

How did you prepare for today's match?

I didn't have a lot of time to practice so I just practiced the basics. I thought about which strategy that I was most confident in. I came up with the answer that I need to do my triple immortal all in three times. I also played like that against Sen during the BWC and that's how I advanced to the finals. Which is why I had confidence within myself. I think it went the way I wanted it to so I am happy.

Life stated in his interview that he would defeat you by a score of 4-1.

He is so cute (laughs). He lost to me by a score of 3-0 at MLG. I can't ever forget how red his face got. Don't worry Life, I'm going to beat you by a score of 4-0.

You won three games in a row with your immortal all ins. Why did you decide to use this build order all of a sudden when you weren't using it all during this Blizzard Cup?

As of late, my all ins have been getting blocked a lot. So a lot of people were saying that the days of immortal all ins were over. But everyone let their guard down so they ended up losing. I already stated this to caster Ahn but the strategy I showed today is called the immortal all in level two.

Does that mean there's a level three?

Nope. I haven't thought of a level three yet but I can't help feel like maybe there will be one for HotS (laughs).

Honestly, what do you think the finals score will be?

I think the match is going to go all the way to game seven. I'll either win 4-3 or lose 3-4.

You don't have a lot of time before the finals. How do you plan to prepare?

I don't plan on preparing anything different. I'm going to practice through ladder since I think it'll become a battle of the basics. But I think Life is a sneaky little rascal because he'll probably practice while I'm sleeping.

Anything else you would like to say?

I want to thank Curious hyung and SoN for helping me with practice. Curious hyung helped me out a lot regarding the critical moments. I am going to repay the favor by buying him something yummy once I get back to the team house. I saw what Life said in his interview. I want to let him know that as a hyung who is three years older than him my feelings were hurt. I hope he doesn't cry after I beat him in the finals (laughs). Of the little brothers back at the team house, Life was #2 in my book. I want to let him know that he's been demoted to #3 now. Before the match began today, my mom called me to let me know that she would be praying for me. I think I was able to win because of that. You've returned once again to the Ro16 of Code S. Tell us how you feel.

I think it was obvious. I haven't been able to practice PvTs recently. I've heard a lot of people say that "PartinG has sacrificed his PvT talents in order to become good at PvZ and PvP." So I took this opportunity to study up on the play styles of Rain, ParalyzE, Bisu, and BeSt, so that I could learn again. I feel glad because it feels like I'm coming back to my old self. I am also really grateful to FanTaSy hyung for helping me.

How has the transfer to SKT been going for you?

I think my situation is a lot different from when I was a trainee. And my teammate hyungs treat me well so it's good. Also, my hyungs approached me first so the transition was very comforting.

Did you expect to advance out as first from your group this season?

Honestly, I saw that I would advance out as first as long as I could beat ByuN hyung. Which is why i prepared extensively for my match against ByuN.

Were you disappointed that you placed third in IEM Katowice?

Personally yes, I was disappointed. If I still had my PvT skills from before then I probably wouldn't have lost. I lost in a situation where I wasn't even concerned so I was disappointed in myself. I went with the mentality that I was going to win but after I lost I started thinking back to my loss in Auction OSL. So when I got back to Korea I started asking my hyungs for a lot of advice. I am very grateful to my hyungs.

You have group nominations ahead of you. What kind of group do you want to make?

This is the last WoL tournament so I really want to make a splash. I want to create a group with Squirtle hyung, Mvp hyung, and Life so I can go head to head against the best of the best. And Life is the best Zerg so I really want to face him at least once.

This season's goals and players who could stand in the way of reaching those goals?

I have the mentality that I am the best so I think I can make it at least to the semifinals. Personally I would like MC hyung to keep his word about picking Protosses for the Ro16.

People are saying that "PartinG is an immortal."

I was known as a high templar in the past. Of course I like being called an immortal too. Apparently people call me "the Soul Train" overseas. I am so grateful for that kind of nickname. I also hope people won't just forget the nickname, "high templar" also.

Anything else you would like to say?

It hasn't been long since I moved in to the SK Telecom team house but all the hyungs and coaching staff have been so welcoming to me that I am so grateful. I want to thank my teammates Mercury hyung, hudadak, Journey hyung, Doh Yoo Yun, JyJ hyung, FanTaSy hyung, Dark, s2, Sacsri hyung, and soO hyung for helping me with practice. And personally, I am most grateful to my Protoss hyungs who helped me out. I was able to win today because of them. Truth be told, I wasn't able to use a build order that I had planned for LosirA today. The build order was recommended to me by KimDongKyoon. I want to make sure I show this strategy for the Ro16. You advanced to the Round of 8 in 2nd place. Please tell us your thoughts.

Because I gained a lot of confidence during practice, I believed that I would win. I have to acknowledge that Life definitely outplayed me during my first match against him, and [when I lost,] I got the feeling that good Zerg players [like him] are on another level. I wanted to face him again in the final match, and I'm glad that that happened.

After the group nominations, people called your group the Group of Death. Did you expect to reach the quarterfinals?

I honestly didn't think that it would be easy. When I broke down after losing to Life and even ceded my first game against BBoongBBoong, a bunch of thoughts popped up in my head, such as Maybe my style is too worn-out and Is this how I'm going to be stopped? But I still felt that I could advance, whether in 1st or 2nd place, because I couldn't fail in PvZ.

You were placed at a disadvantage after you were hit with Life's Hydralisk attack.

It was my first time dealing with that build, but I was more surprised by the Mutalisks that came in after the Hydras. I knew that Life was a good player even back when I was in StarTale, but I didn't think he was this good.

In the losers' match, you defeated BBoongBBoong with a Void Ray-Carrier unit composition. Is there a reason why you went for Sky Toss?

It was Squirtle-hyung's build; when I was in StarTale, Squirtle would create builds and teach them to me. I used it because it counters defensive Zerg play.

You got revenge on Life in the last match, but in contrast to the first set that you won, you ceded the second set with little resistance.

Since I know Life's personality, I believed that he would absolutely use the same strategies. I told my coach and prepared for forceful games, and it did happen; I even predicted that he would 6 or 7 Pool during the second game, and he indeed chose to do so. In spite of that, I made too many mistakes. Even though it was the final series, my hands still hadn't loosened up and I couldn't micro properly, so I threw away my units. Because I hadn't been able to deal with my opponent's strategy even when I knew what it would be, I decided to give it my all during the third set.

The Sky Toss composition that you showed today looks like it'll be useful in Heart of the Swarm, too.

I don't know too well because I haven't played Heart of the Swarm yet, but I heard from players around me that Sky Toss is powerful in HotS. The build order was actually similar to the one from Wings of Liberty. If I get the chance, I think I'll try it in HotS in the future.

Your opponent in the quarterfinals is Curious, your former teammate.

Saying this might upset Curious-hyung, but up until now, I've blocked every path that was ahead of him. Curious said in his interview yesterday that he could win as long as Life wasn't his opponent. I feel a bit sad because I sort of feel like he's ignoring me, but since I'm friends with him, I'll play an exciting match and get in his way once again.

By reaching the quarterfinals, you've also secured your Code S spot for next season. How do you plan to prepare for Heart of the Swarm?

When I went from Brood War to StarCraft II, I thought If I keep playing, it'll click in my head one day as I practiced. I think it's the same way this time, too. I feel that if I prepare thoroughly, I'll be able to achieve good results.

Tell us anything more that you have to say.

I'm really thankful to s2-hyung, Soo-hyung, Dark, and Sacsri-hyung for helping me practice even though they had to prepare for Proleague. I'll return the favor once I return to the team house. I think that it was my Protoss hyungs' cheering that gave me strength. Rain-hyung told me that I would do well if I believed in myself, and I think that that's what happened.

[WCS-GSL] Parting "I am a full-fledged champion."

"I don't like being gauged based on a seed."

INTERVIEW

Q: You advanced from your group placing first. How do you feel?

A: It was an obvious result. I don't that that Group G was a "group of death" at all. There is not a single player in Heart of the Swarm that I will give credit to. I don't know why Life is so popular since he was only good during Wings of Liberty when Zerg was imbalanced. Now that our matchup is balanced in Heart of the Swarm, I was going to completely embarass him but he lost. He's not that great on ladder either. I didn't like that people said I had no chance against him. So I prepared even more and practiced harder.

Q: They say that you actually became weaker after coming over to Heart of the Swarm.

A: At the time, our team was on a losing streak in Proleague. When I came back from my victory in Germany, that losing streak ended. I hadn't been able to play HotS until then because I was busy focusing on Wings of Liberty. The coaches asked me if I wanted to play HotS but I declined for the sake of the team.

Q: Your first match was against Last.

A: I personally think Last was the most formidable opponent of the three. I've met him on ladder and felt he was a very solid player. I knew that if I could make it through a PvT, I would advance.

Q: You beat him 2:0 very quickly and went on to the winner's match.

A: Last has a very greedy style. I don't think it's a very good style. I knew how he would play and prepared solely Blink Stalker builds.

Q: You must have hoped that Life would come with you to the winner's match.

A: To be honest, Life was the easiest opponent. Like I said before, I wouldn't lose to him during Wings of Liberty either. I had a ceremony all ready to use on him but unfortunately he didn't make it. It's a shame, really. I wasn't too excited for him anyway.

Q: You don't have a good history in the GSL. What is your goal this season?

A: My goal is to eliminate all the esF players. I'm sure I'll eventually get to the finals by doing so.

Q: You are able to participate in the group selection.

A: I plan on picking high profile esF players. If I have the opportunity to choose, I will definitely pick a player from StarTale.

Q: Only 3 Protoss' have advanced to the round of 16.

A: The current balance is not very good. I'm not the type to whine about balance but Terran is just ridiculous. I could beat everyone with Terran. I have no idea why the Medivac hasn't been nerfed yet.

Q: The WCS format has changed.

A: I have done well in any tournament starting with a W. WCS or WCG, I've done well in all of them. I want to become the WCS champion. It would be nice to get a seed, but I don't want people evaluating me based on that seed. I don't mind climbing my way up. Koreans are my only obstacle.

Q: Any last words?

A: I want to thank my teammates who helped me prepare even during their free time. I hope no one will underestimate me. I haven't done too well in broadcasts, but using today as a footstool I will continue to show good results. Please don't judge me based on one match. I too am a full-fledged champion.

INTERVIEW

Q: You move on to the round of 8 placing second in your group. How do you feel?

A: I cannot express in words how happy I am. I took all necessary preparation to take responsibility for what I said. I think that preparation has paid off.

Q: You had a shaky start, losing to Life 2:0 in the first set.

A: Life played a very conservative style today. In the first match he took his natural expansion fairly safely and played defensively. This threw me off greatly since this wasn't how he usually plays at all. If this was just practice I would assess the situation accordingly, but I crumbled mentally with the assumption that he was hiding something. In the last game it was like he was saying, "All-in me please~"

Q: You produced a lot of haters after what you said in the round of 32.

A: There are things the spectators don't know. I do regret saying childlish things. I'm sorry to Life as well. Even after I won, I feel bitter when I think about him. I know it's my own fault, but I feel like I took my anger out on him. We were close when I was still on StarTale but now the relationship has completely reversed. I want to apologize to him as well as Bomber. My mind was uneasy while preparing for today's matches. As for the fans, there is nothing I can do.

Q: With today's victory you have also secured a place in the Premier League.

A: After a while playing in KeSPa, I got used to Yongsan. I think the Federation players will be nervous so I think that will be an advantage of mine.

Q: You went down to the Loser's match and met Flash. Were you confident?

A: My concept for today was 'even if I lose, I must beat Life.' (laughs) I knew that I would get a lot of shit if I got eliminated after what I said. I hadn't prepared for Terran at all so I thought I would be crushed to dust but I found my groove as I played. Honestly, I myself noticed a lot of bad looks after I lost to Life and I was very embarassed.

Q: You met Life again in the final match.

A: When I lost 0:2, I remembered my loss at the Blizzard Cup. Even with my Zealots at the choke, Zerglings got through and my economy declined while my resources piled up. But I thought of the time I beat him 2:1 and found my confidence. I was fully warmed up by the time we met again and had full intent to defeat him the second time.

Q: You will meet the first place of Group A in the round of 8. Who would you like to face?

A: I don't want to single anyone out. It doesn't matter anymore. My goal for this season was to break the myth that there is a rivalry between myself and Life. Since that goal is done, it doesn't matter who comes up. But for the sake of reaching the finals I hope Flying comes up. In the StarLeague he used the dishwashing ceremony on me. I really hope I get to play him so I can show him my own red sponge ceremony. (laughs)

Q: Are you happy with today's matches?

A: I want to forget about losing to Life 0:2. Except for that, I am happy.

Q: Any last words?

A: I want to thank my ever so handsome Zerg teammates who helped me prepare for today. Rain, Bisu, Paralyze, and Brown helped me as well. I knew that I didn't have many fans left so it felt like it was 1:500 with me against Life and his Swarm. I saw that there was nothing but hate for me in the community. I had begun to think that I had messed with the wrong person but Bisu shook my hand to pass me his strength. I felt horrible after losing to Life 2:0, but I came back to beat Flash and then Life. It was Yuk Shi Taek Shin ('of course, it's Bisu'). (laughs) It really is the only explanation. I realize that it still doesn't look good to the fans. But please know that I do not throw my words around and I ask for a second chance. I promise to keep showing good matches so please watch me play. I was moved to see my fans cheer me on through social media. I dedicated today's games to those fans.

We would like to hear your thoughts on your team advancing to the semifinals.

I began showing results in the GSTL after I started living in the team house. During that time, my hyungs scolded me for being so preoccupied with the individual leagues, so I decided that I would begin contributing to my team in the team leagues. I'm glad that my practice led to such great results.

You hauled your team to victory with an all-kill.

Starting from several days ago, I promised that I would definitely all-kill IM. I'm happy that I was able to keep that promise and prove to others that I'm not just a bluffer.

This is the fourth all-kill by a StarTale player in the GSTL, as well as the fourth all-kill by a Protoss.

I didn't know that before, but it's great that our team has such high prestige. When I watched Protosses like YongHwa all-kill, I was always jealous of them, but I feel happy now that I've done one myself. Now, I hope that no other Protoss will be able to perform another all-kill in the future (laughs).

You won your match against LosirA with one of your soul-filled Immortal all-ins.

I think that my PvZ is always the same. I dared my opponent to try and defend once I attacked, then I won handily. When I was able to bulldoze down my opponent's Spine Crawler line, I got the feeling that my Immortal timings are indeed the strongest.

When did you predict that you it would be possible for you to perform an all-kill?

I started feeling confident once I beat MC even after revealing my proxy Gateways to him.

During your last match, YongHwa gave you a lot of trouble with his Dark Templar, but you still won using an Immortal-Archon attack.

I did wonder whether my streak would end at four kills, but I saw that I might have a chance if I kept careful track of YongHwa-hyung's army movements. Thanks to his DTs killing my Probes, I was able to fill the gap in my supply back up with army units. Knowing that this was my only opportunity to win and that I would lose if I were stopped, I proceeded to attack and took the victory.

In the Round of 4, you will meet the team in Group A that advances in second place. Which team would you like to face?

I want to meet Prime. I want revenge for our loss in the Las Vegas finals, and since I already have experience all-killing them in the IPTL, I want to try doing it again. We're feeling great right now, and I hope that our streak of momentum lasts until the day of the match.

Has Life, your teammate, been able to stop your Immortal rushes?

In practice matches, I've performed around 70 Immortal timing attacks, and I have never seen anyone block one. There are no Zergs who can defend against my Immortal rush in Wings of Liberty. If a Zerg player ever comes out who can stop my attack, he will be able to beat me.

Numerous people have wanted to learn the secret to my Immortal attacks, but even if you check out my VODs, you won't be able to find out. If I manage to win the Code S championship, I will reveal the secret to my Immortal rush, so if there are any other Protosses who want to know, they'll have to cheer for me to win.

There aren't very many Zerg players in Code S.

I feel confident even if I don't ever meet a Zerg. Throughout last season, Life always stated in interviews that he had confidence in himself, and I am just the same. If I meet any Zergs on the way, I can Immortal rush them whenever I want, so I hope that they start sweating.

Do you have any last words?

I'm thankful to my team's sponsors, Red Bull, Zowie Gear, and Joy Gear. My manager used to be disappointed in me for only practicing for individual leagues and not showing good results in team leagues. With today's all-kill, I hope that he forgets all of that and starts to see me as an ace. I plan to make a lot of noise in the team house today (laughs).

How do you feel about grabbing your first victory after taking down BaBy?

I think this is the first time I was able to practice for a match up feeling this jolly. Normally I feel really pressured as I prepare for my games but this time I was able to prepare calmly. I didn't think about titles like GSL or KeSPA as I prepared so I think that's why I was able to play such a great game.

At the group nominations you seemed very bold but weren't you feeling the burden of losing?

I was confident that I was going to win as long as I met a Terran opponent. I thought to myself that since I have so much confidence against GSL players that KeSPA players should be easier to win against.

BaBy attacked you early game.

During my practices, the scenario that I really wished for happened today. That's why I was able to block it with such ease and take the victory. I felt like I didn't need to play a long macro game. So I practiced against a lot of all ins.

Has anything changed since the group ceremonies?

I looked at my twitter this morning and saw that I had a lot tweets than usual so I realized that I received a lot more followers. That really livened me up. Lately I've been practicing even harder for the fans.

Today's ceremony was very unique.

It was a ceremony I had thought of after BaBy provoked me. My next opponent will be Flying hyung and since I'm good friends with him I am going to show a grand ceremony. Instead of using a sponge I am going to prepare a different ceremony.

With this momentum you could probably aim for the championship.

Since it's only the Ro16, I think it's too early to talk about the championship. I think I'll get there eventually as long as I keep working hard. After losing to Mvp hyung in the last GSL, I realized that I shouldn't be so cocky.

Anything you would like to say to BaBy?

I was supposed to exchange number with BaBy but I ended up losing my cell phone. In order to become friends with BaBy quickly I think I'm going to have hurry up and get another phone. Today's ceremony was for the league's success. If he beats me next time I am prepared to take on whatever ceremony is thrown at me. Personally, I wish to advance to the Ro8 with BaBy.

Anything else you would like to say?

I want to thank Sparta, Harrier, Bomber hyung, Sound hyung, Hack hyung, and Sculp for helping me with practice. Now that you've reached the round of 8, how do you feel?

Back when people were saying that I was going to become a champion, I suffered a big loss at the hands of Mvp-hyung in the GSL semifinals. At the time, I felt sure that I wouldn't lose, but I remember that that was the first time that a Terran player had brought me down to my knees after I had beaten many of the best Terrans in the world. Afterwards, I learned not to become so overconfident, and that is why I was able to win today. Because I felt like I was able to get revenge for that time, I feel great.

You managed to reach the quarterfinals after winning an elimination match.

At first, I was planning to win all of my games. However, I wasn't able to play as well against Flying-hyung as I had prepared to do. Too many thoughts were floating around in my head as I was playing, and that's what made me lose. I felt that after I had lost to Leenock-hyung as well, and I believed back then that my skills weren't good enough. But I went into the mindset that all that mattered was that I advanced, so I quickly regained my composure.

How far have you progressed through your revenge scenario?

Now that I managed to put Mvp to sleep in the OSL, I'm about 80% satisfied. Now, there's only Flying left. The only opportunity we have to meet is in the final, so I definitely want to reach the final and get my revenge.

You won today's game more comfortably than expected.

In the waiting room, Mvp tried using psychological warfare on me. He brought up the Code S semifinals and told me that he would go for his signature Jung Jong-King cheese rush. I hesitated a bit, but I decided to play my own way and perform a counterattack. My head was starting to fill up with thoughts because what Mvp had told me, but I went with a build that I don't usually use and easily won. I feel that I won the battle of the waiting room.

Do you still believe in the importance of psychological battles?

I felt that even back in the semifinals of that GSL. People were saying that I wasn't very good at playing mind games, so I was constantly worried.

You made it into the round of 8 with your own hands.

I had wanted to play against my senior, Flash, from the beginning, but I got matched up with Rain-hyung instead. I don't have a problem with playing against him, but I was slightly disappointed because I wasn't able to play against Flash.

Why are you so focused on Flash?

He is a player who aims for the peak. I feel it even in SC2. If I went up against him, I would be able to understand his play style and the way he practices. Because of that, I have a strong desire to play against him.

How do you think things will go with Rain in the quarterfinals? Your PvP does appear to be shaky.

I don't think that my PvP is weak. If I try my best, I can win. During my BW days, Rain-hyung would do things like letting me watch his games. Since we were able to meet like this in SC2, I want to play an entertaining match with him.

You've participated in a lot of tournaments recently.

I wanted to emerge victorious in all of the tournaments in which I played, especially the GSL and the OSL. But from there, I even fell out of Code S, so there's only the OSL left for me now. I want to make sure that I win this OSL.

Any last words?

ST_PartinG lived up to his namesake, the "Terran Killer", today.

During the first three rounds of the RO32 on the sixth day of the Korean WCS, Parting took down MVP_sC 2-0. He took the first set with a miraculously composed defense, and he held off sC's offensive wave in the second to make it through to the RO16.

How do you feel about making it to the RO16?

I feel great. If I win just two more matches, I can reach the top 10. If I make it that far, I can make it to the Asia finals, so I feel quite confident. I will face either Jaedong or aLive in the next round, and I am okay with either one, as my PvZ is getting better.

SC's attack during the first set was formidable. What was your secret to defending it?

All Terrans are the same; that type of play is predictable. If I just play as I usually do, I can predict their timings and counter them. Even in the second set, I knew in advance that sC would pressure with marines.

During the RO4 of Code S last season, what is the reason that you lost to Mvp?

At that time, my win rate was quite good in practice games. I primarily only played with big-name players, so I felt like I could beat anybody. I think I lost because I got cocky; I don't let myself become overconfident anymore. From the beginning, my coach told me not to get full of myself, but I said "yes" only in word, but after losing to Mvp-hyung that way, all of that pride completely disappeared.

In the second set, did you predict how strong sC's attack would be?

That is true, but sC's play was still good. I predicted that he would hit a medivac timing, but I didn't see the follow-up coming.

In the first set, you held off the siege tank attack very well.

Terrans can no longer play only as they used to. I don't think siege tank compositions are bad in TvP; those creative and original types of play give other races more to think about.

You are very strong in the late game. You almost never lose games that last over 25 minutes.

If I don't die in the early game, I am confident that I will not lose later on. If I get 3 bases and manage to hold them, I feel that I am invincible. However, there are many players who spot and take advantage of my weaknesses in the early game. I am working hard to patch up that aspect of my play.

If you play against Jaedong in the RO16, what do you think it will be like?

Many fans think that this would be very exciting, so I really want this to happen. Since the opportunity could come soon, I would like to take it. Jaedong is a great player in Proleague; I think he is the most skilled player in the TBLS. I've watched Jaedong's matches very often. I think that Team 8 is one of the stronger teams; I have a good feeling about them, and I see them very often when I turn on my TV.

Are you looking towards reaching first place in this tournament?

I've moved forward in every Korean tournament, so I feel like I have momentum, but I still don't know. If I get past the RO16 of the winners' bracket, I think I will become much more confident. I will feel even more comfortable if I secure a spot in the WCS Asia finals.

You were the first one to advance in to the finals.

I am more than thrilled that I defeated the Protoss player that was on most form and current GSL champion Seed hyung. Of course I also feel a little down that I had to beat someone I'm good friends with. But my joy is bigger right now.

In game one, you were very aggressive with your harassments.

PvPs are not about the amount of practice you put in but the amount of thought you put in. That's why for today, compared to the other match ups that I normally I prepare for, I practiced a very small amount for today's match up. But out of all the opponents I had prepared for, Seed hyung was definitely the most stressful opponent and I had no confidence in myself. Lately these days, my confidence for PvPs seem to just find me all of a sudden. I was thinking of my build orders as I was riding the car over to the studio and I decided to implement them while believing in myself.

Game two ended with a huge final battle.

I tend to think about all the PvPs I had lost in the past and how crucial that final battle timing was. I was also thinking about final battle timing during today's game two. I think today, that timing that's been on my mind for a really long time finally worked itself out. I'm satisfied within myself and I am proud of my victory.

The finals is going to be a PvP. Who would you prefer to face that would be easier?

I never thought to myself that there was someone easy while participating in this tournament. Aside from the KeSPA Terrans, I even considered the KeSPA players a threat. While it's true that the finals will be difficult regardless of who advances, I would like it my fellow teammate and hyung Squirtle, advanced. There is a reason. In the GSL season 2, if I had made it to the finals and hadn't lost to Mvp, I would've faced Squirtle hyung in the finals. I even had build orders all planned out to use against Squirtle hyung. So since I missed my chance last time, I want Squirtle hyung to advance so that I can use it this time and get recognition for it by him.

You became a star during the OSL Group Nominations.

I honestly can't say that I did that by myself. I want to thank all the participants from the OSL nominations. I was able to get the spotlight for the fans, and I was able to correct my dirty image I had been known for so I am relieved about that. (referring to the time he said that he was going to go to the finals since Terrans are so easy and that he was going to walk over Mvp, only to get roflstomped by Mvp) It was something I had been wanting to say those things for a while now and I'm glad I did. What were your games against Curious like?

During the first set, I used mind games to win with an all-in. For the second set, I played a macro game and ended up in an advantageous position, but lost because I had trouble staying focused. I didn't even know myself what I was doing, and losing that game almost made my mental state collapse. However, I performed my trademark Immortal all-in during the third set to secure my victory.

You have a match against Liquid`HerO ahead of you in the fourth round of the winners' bracket.

I've talked about a lot of things with HerO-hyung. We told each other that we would advance together, and we shared builds and had discussions about them. Initially, I only wanted to qualify for the global finals, but now, I want to take WCS Asia.

What do you think of the possibility of playing against Rain?

It would be an opportunity to get revenge for my loss during the OSL quarterfinals, so I definitely want to face him. Can you give an overall assessment of your individual performance at the WCS Asia Finals?

Actually, I really never thought I would be able to come in second.

When I saw the match ups for WCS Asia Finals, I knew the group I was in would be really difficult to play in, and so I set my goal at being top 6. But unexpectedly, I kept winning, and unwittingly I became more and more ambitious, but sadly I lost to Rain.

Parting your strength should be in PvT? But in the end it was all PvP this time.

The evaluation that people have of me is that I am a Terran killer, but I think I am equally good at PvZ and PvP. That there are lesser Terrans doesn't make it any different for me.

You played 3 PvPs against strong players consecutively. Did you lose the game because you were getting tired?

In the few days I have been in China I never slept more than three hours. I was indeed not too used to the environment. Also, the competition at WCS Asia Finals is really strong, and in the end I was really so so sleepy, I had to wash my face to be able to continue playing. I was really too tired.

(Sighs) Ahh I let Startale down. Keep talking about shaking the runner up curse, but I came in second as well.

There's still the GSL coming up, and Life from our team is going up against Mvp, the Startale counter. We might very well get another runner up, and that'd make it 10... (bitter laugh)

How's Life now?

Life's skill is really great now, and he's really young, and very confident, and has very strong combat ability. But in terms of the results of the internal games we have in the team, I have a 50% winrate against Life.

Startale's results have soared since Startale and Zenex merged.

Previously in Startale, our Zergs had really poor results. But when we merged with Zenex, our Zerg became much stronger, and that directly raised the combat ability of our Zerg, which caused the results to soar.

Squirtle is in a slump recently. Afterall, all professional gamers have their slumps, but for Squirtle, that he is unable to play in tournaments at the level that he does in practice is really worrying me.

The GSTL game against LG-IM was postponed to next Saturday. Both are strong teams. How is Startale preparing?

Startale's tradition has always been to focus more on the team leagues. As for the match of Startale against LG-IM next Saturday, we have an overwhelming advantage in terms of our history.

I'm thankful to Blizzard, for giving the players such a level ground to compete in. I am quite satisfied with the place and the environment for this tournament. But, I feel that I am personally more willing to have the chance to have some interaction with the crowd. Perhaps Blizzard wants to let us focus on preparing for the competition, but to repay the support that the people are showing to the tournament, I feel that there needs to be more interaction.

You didn't do any ceremonies after your wins today. Will you show us some tomorrow?

As long as I'm in a good mood I'll definitely do them.

In the GSL round of 16, all 4 Startale players fell out and wasn't able to make the round of 8. Is it because of a problem in Startale?

I'm not sure either. Before that, everyone was in really good condition, but around the time of the Code S tournament, everyone's condition just downslided together, and I don't know the reason for that either.

You know, Dustin said that the mothership might be made such that it cannot be affected by neural parasite. As a Protoss player, what do you think of this?

(When the reporter mentioned mothership, Parting already guessed the question) This is definitely something that must be fixed. Infestors are too imba. This is your first championship victory. Please tell us your thoughts.

I doubted whether I could win the tournament with my level of skill, so I'm happy that I was able to win like this.

During the Day 2 playoffs, you faced three Zergs in a row. Didn't you have trouble?

Even before playing, I had already anticipated the result of my match against Scarlett in the Round of 16. As long as I could play using the strategies that I was best at and could execute most reliably, I felt that I would not lose. I thought that I could also manage to beat Suppy 3-0, but I think that I had a difficult time during that match because I broke down psychologically.

Sen, the Taiwanese player whom you faced in the semifinals, had reached the Round of 4 by defeating Curious and HerO. Had you planned to use Immortal rushes when you went into the match?

I thought, "If even Korean players have a hard time blocking this attack, how can a foreigner do it?" Personally, even I was curious about how to break the Immortal rush.

Which match would you call your most difficult during this event?

There wasn't a single player whom I would consider an obstacle. The person whom I wanted to face in this tournament was Rain-hyung. I wanted to get revenge on him for the WCS Asia finals.

After winning, what was the first thought that passed through your head?

After taking the victory, the first thing I thought was, "[I just won] 100 million [won]!" (laughs)

What are you thinking of spending your prize money on?

I plan to save all of it and hand it over to my mother. I'm planning to receive some of it as an allowance whenever I need money.

Life did win a tournament recently, but this is the first championship victory by a core StarTale member.

Life may be on StarTale along with me, but he's a ZeNEX native. Before my games, I told my manager, "As a core player, I will make sure that I win so that you won't have to deal with people calling our team KongTale." I'm glad that I was able to keep that promise. I want to go back to the team house and tell my hyungs that we won't have to settle for second place anymore. I also want to try bragging a bit (laughs).

We've heard that during your quarterfinal match against Suppy, there was some kind of problem.

Compared to foreign players, Koreans are willing to practice to the point of cutting down on sleep. But after I defeated Scarlett, Suppy examined her replays. Having seen my timings and strategies in those replays, Suppy blindly built 15 Spine Crawlers and Zerglings even before I had moved out to attack. My pride as a professional gamer could not tolerate such actions, so I decided to show him what for by attacking him even harder.

Please tell us about any future ambitions or last words that you may have.

Recently, I think I've done well during tournaments that have a "W" in their names, so I'm looking forward to showing good results during the upcoming WCG. You've successfully taken WCG 2012. Please tell us your thoughts.

I was naturally guaranteed to be the victor, so I don't feel too excited. I'm simply glad that I was able to preserve Korea's championship victory record.

During the first set, you quickly scouted your opponent's proxy Stargate. Had you anticipated this in advance?

My opponent's Gateways were supposed to be up and running when I first scouted him, but he wasn't producing any units out of them, so I was sure that there was a proxy building somewhere. When I checked the 6 o'clock position, I found the Stargate.

During the second set, you confronted your opponent with a Phoenix composition followed by Immortals. Didn't you feel vulnerable?

Had my opponent been a good player, I would have felt vulnerable, but I believed that I would easily be able to block his attack and win the game. After seeing with my Phoenixes that my opponent was going for Blink Stalkers, I decided to use the power of Immortals.

Even though it feels as if Koreans are taking all of the StarCraft II tournament medals, you alone were able to earn a gold medal [at WCG]. Why do you think that the other Koreans failed to take the other medals?

I think the reason is that the other Koreans got careless. If they had stayed on guard, they would have been able to take bronze at the very least. Meanwhile, I made sure to watch all of my opponents' most important VODs, which was of great help to me.

You had a difficult time making it to the finals, dropping a set during each of your matches.

It's true. I realized during this tournament that it's possible to lose even against players who haven't won tournaments before if you underestimate them. I went into the final series with the mindset that I needed to focus and make sure not to let my guard down.

After winning the BWC, you were able to take the WCG victory that you desired.

My original goal this year was to win three tournaments, and I've gotten close after winning the BWC and WCG. To be honest, I created new goals for myself once I won the BWC. I wanted to become the undisputed world champion by taking WCG, as well as show a proper performance at the GSL Grand Finals. With these objectives ahead of me, I felt very eager and excited. I want to complete my objective of winning three events with a victory in the GSL Grand Finals.

Do you have confidence that you will take the GSL Grand Finals?

I am indeed confident. I think that it'll be just like winning WCG 2012: aside from Rain, I've had experience defeating all of the other players, so I think I can manage to win. I've lost to Rain before at WCS Asia and the OSL, so I want to face him at the GSL Grand Finals and make sure to get my revenge.
