Hey guys , I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get my stream up and its really been frustrating me.
So basically I upgraded to a sick computer that should be able to make me easily stream in 720p. For some reason when I put stream up there is no lag when someone watches it , but when I'm in game and start to box units , buildings and things I start to feel either a bit of delay or lag , so bascially its not immediately responsive. I even tryed to scout around with a probe and when I follow the probe scouting it seems like its a bit jittery.
I am a relatively fast player , 160APM+ , and having a bit of delay like this is hard to play with. Typically my FPS is around 180(not streaming) , but when I stream it stays around 120. Even though 120 FPS is GREAT , I still feel that very little difference in lag / delay, which gets to me. I tryed to mess around ALOT with my settings but cant seem to get it working. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you try and push too much data over your internet connection you will start to have lag and this is what I believe your issue is. If you want to test what your ping is open a command prompt and enter: Ping us.battle.net /t. That will ping the us battle net server and the /t switch will ping until you tell it to stop. Then run xsplit and start streaming and then do the same. Most people say anything over 150ms is really bad, Lower then 100 is optimal.
Please post and let us know the results!

| Try maybe to lower resolution, or change preset to one beneath"faster" so xsplit will be using more Your CPU than bandwidth. |

Yes, dump more of the load into your CPU to get a higher quality stream by increasing FPS, Quality, and Preset.
I have 6Mbps myself, but I am not able to stream more than 2000 bitrate most times because of random dips. Basically, just because your internet is capable of working at said bandwidth doesn't mean it's doing so consistently. This is why xsplit provided the "Test bandwidth" function. It tests your connection over a period of a few seconds. I suggest you adjust your bitrate until you can do this test 10 times in a row with less than 2 yellow signals.Last edit: 2012-02-03 10:29:27 |

Seems like the problem is fixed. all I had to do was chagne the default speed to "faster" and seems to work. thanks for the help from everyone. |

@Pandablunt Pinging 'us.battle.net' will hit their web server cluster, not the game servers, so the test is not very precise.
Generally: If you are very/extremely sensitive about lag, streaming and playing on the same computer is not for you. Most find the added value of being able to stream worth a hit in performance. Streaming without a hit is currently close to impossible no matter what hardware you use. Look into dual computer setups if you really want to achieve this (the XSplit forum has some guides).
Input lag: Since no one mentions the screen capture method, I will . This is the parameter mainly responsible for input lag (sluggish unit control/boxing etc). Using GameSource or DXTory will allow to stream at high fps+resolution+quality settings while minimizing input lag to something most people find acceptable to play under.
Stream lag (frame drops): When OP has his max bitrate set to 1500 on a 4000 kbps upload, changing the preset to a slower value (like you have done) will (or perhaps I say should) not help on input lag. It can help on stream lag, but there's nothing that should limit you at 1500 or less with a 4000 kbps upload. 'jacosah' does mention some valid reasons, but ~8/10 times this is solved by changing the location setting in channel settings away from it's default setting (to a named server).Last edit: 2012-02-03 12:48:15 |

I am having a similar problem and yes, ill say it, I am new to all of this, so Im sorry if i do something wrong, (like bumping this post perhaps), or ask something dumb, but I do need assistance.
My setup is as followed: AMD Athlon II X2 240 Dual-Core Processor 16 GBs Ram AMD Radeon HD 6570
I have a Hauppauge HD-PVR, and I already know that I should expect some lag, but only around 3-5 seconds. But as I have my webcam and Hauppauge going at the same time, I have only a 4 second delay witht the webcam, and a 17 second delay with my game capture, I have 640 x 360 resolution, and only 25 FPS, I am kinda new to xsplit, and have been trying to tinker with it and get the right settings, but I am unable to accomplish any productivity. If anyone here can assist me, I believe I may be able to finally stream after all, everyone here seems knowledgeable about the program and its settings, so any help or input would be much appreciated. My internet speed is about 90 down and 5 up, with about a 15 ping, through command prompt, it is: Without streaming: Packets: Sent: 4 Received: 0 Lost = 4 (100% loss) With stream : Packets: Sent: 4 Received: 0 Lost = 4 (100% loss)
Please if anyone out there can assist, it would be much appreciated, thank you.Last edit: 2012-06-07 07:29:21 |

yea, well, it wont matter anymore, xsplit got an update, and i have a patched version and i cant sign into it without doing the update, so now i have to worry about a membership of it before i do anything |
