You missed Ret's last game vs Dark Force at IEM apparently. And the 1/1/1 is used by just about every Terran player.

You're equating 2-base hellion to a 6pool vs Terran. Sure, Alive's build was a little cheesy, but 6pooling twice to essentially shit on his commitment to NASL is not the same thing as breaking some ethereal "no-cheese" showmatch gentlemen's code. Showmatch =/= 15-minute no-rush

Alright, I am done with this argument, apparently 6 pooling is illegal, but proxy 2 rax is fine. Saying that 11/11 proxy rax has transitions is like saying the 4 gate has transitions or a 6 pool has transitions. Sure it can transition, but if you do no damage, you transition yourself into a loss, unless the other player messes up royally. Alive went all-in, and he won. He took a huge risk and it paid off. Idra took a huge risk and it didn't pay off.
It sounds like you both don't understand the astronomical difference in viability between 6 pool and 2 rax and the context of game 4. He got about as lucky as possible with his first 6 pool. Alive denied it without a wall even. There is absolutely no way he thought it had a chance of winning the next game.
And even if it did have some remote chance that it could have worked, it was obviously a really poor strategy with a high probability of immediately losing him the game. You can't act like this isn't sending a huge message to all the viewers. |

There is such double standard here it is ridiculous, if I was a mod I would be handing out bans for player bashing. It's not a double standard. The first game wasn't even cheese. Second game is semi-all in but so what? It's still a legitimate strategy. 6 pools vs a Code S player twice in a row is just throwing the games.

Double reactor hellion forces the Zerg to react to not die (defensive roaches, whatever) so they're doing atleast indirect damage as in delaying other tech. Plus you can contain the zerg on two bases until mutas/infestors are out or he pushes with roaches.
Plus you're getting your normal infrastructure up behind it. 1 Rax with Techlab, 2 Rax with the reactors from the factories + 2 factories with tech labs for siege mode. Looks pretty standard to me.
If you suicide all your hellions and don't kill anything you'll prolly die, but if you play it smart you don't have to kill the Zerg. (See SuperNova - violet on TDA from last IEM, SuperNova lost because he didn't have siege mode ready when he pushed, not because of his opening)
(Yes, you prolly behind if you don't kill anything, but the game is far from lost/over)
