It literally came into effect today for the U.S., I think. EU here. It came into effect here a few days ago. I turned off ad block, wathed 1 add, turned on ad block again, and have never had to watch one again

you could use a proxy from a country not where you live?

I got this notification when I attempted to play a song today EDIT: I live in the US btw
It seems that depending on how much you pay changes how much you get for 1 month before another payment, if you choose the 0 Dollar option then it plays you a video add and wont bother you for another 4 hours. If you choose the 2$ option then it wont bother you for another month if you choose the 4$ seems to be the same as the 2$ The 6$ option will have no ads on the site for a month, and the 9$ option gives you access to their mobile services as well as no ads for a month. Seems to me like it's pay or get spammed with ads now; a video ad every 4 hours is going to get annoying; it also seems that adblock users won't be exempt from the this video add either, because its a notification that comes up (stopping your music) and makes you click "play" on a Youtube video, and once it has been playing long enough (you can't just skip to the end of the ad, I tried) you can click a "resume playback" option and continue as normal for another 4 hours.

There's a firefox extension that removed the old popups that stopped your song. This will probably be handled the same way.

Single 30 second ad every 4 hours in US? Seems fair to me.

Yeah, still better then having to pay for 4 hours of music.
|
I've been paying $3 a month for Grooveshark for a long time now and I do it because I support it. I understand that it costs money to create the music that I listen to on there and money to host the servers that it streams from. Paying $4 a month for unlimited music is not asking too much. I'll keep paying for it until it gets shutdown when the music labels are done with it.
It's a good service anyone who thinks it's a service when they aren't paying for it it's considered charity because you don't pay them a dime for what they do. I hope others support this kind of unlimited for a monthly cost deal.

Yeah, for the quality that Grooveshark gives, I honestly don't mind at all watching a 30 second ad every 4 hours. To be honest I wouldn't even mind once an hour, though hopefully they don't get anymore ideas. :p

I havent gotten any ads for grooveshark and ive been listening the last couple days

I don't know about other countries, but at least in Denmark it is no longer possible to acces Grooveshark without a proxyserver.(or atleast i haven't found another way around it). It says something about it being illegal.
Anyone knows how to get around this?

It was nice a a free thing, but I wouldn't pay for it because sometimes the songs you had on playlists just disappeared. Like, I had about 500 songs on a list and then one time I went to it and there were only 420. I had no idea which ones were gone either, lol. I'm not sure how it works, but their library changes.
|
I've had no issues accessing Grooveshark in Canada. No ads either.
|
They've been letting me even close the video after 10 seconds had passed. Seems more than fair for free music, playlists, basically not having to pay for music at all. I'll probably subscribe and give them more money so they can continue being internet superheroes.
|
I go on Grooveshark, start a song, video pops up, 10 seconds later I click close video, now I listen to music for 4 hours. It's really hard to find a way of complaining about this.

I used spotify for a while, but I switched to grooveshark. I found the ads far too invasive.
