Nobody Plays 1v1 Ladder Anymore? - Page 68

I wish more people in this thread would listen to day[9] people seem to have this concieved perception of what ladder is and how it should be played. You complain that there's not enough creativity in the game, as if it's the games fault that you can't do crazy shit. No one is stopping you from trying out crazy things and having fun with it. Rank doesn't mean anything unless you put meaning into it. Focus on yourself and what you want to accomplish. If your goal is to go pro, then sure by all means try to play as close to perfect as possible. But if your goal is just to have fun and try to get a bit better at the game just have fun with it. Try creating your own builds, timings, all-ins. Try to make a valid BC rush build, go experiment with nydus network.

I completely understand if you don't find starcraft 2 ladder entertaining, but I feel a lot of reasons given in this thread are very wierd and are based on the notion that mmr and rank actually matters. It doesn't! Play for yourself and your own enjoyment and you might find ladder more fun. Also, try to make friends when you can. It's possible even if it is hard...

Why are you complaining about bad players when you're in Silver league?

Starcraft II just isn't fun. =/ I played Brood War for years and never stopped having fun. When Day[9] discussed how there just wasn't a good enough gap for skill improvement in his frisbee/baseball argument it explained exactly why I didn't find SC2 fun.

Moved to LoL because SC2 wasn't fun anymore basically. The ladder system is extremely flawed imho, and things like not being able to watch my replays together with friends definitely contributed to it.

Everyone time I hear people say Laddering is too stressful I'm dumbfounded.
SC2 has helped my Anxiety IMMENSELY. Their is only two outcomes (not counting the rare tie).
Once you learn to accept a loss and learn from your mistakes the stress goes away.

I've never been a big 'broodwar' > SC2 person. I actually fully engulfed myself into sc2 when it was released and BW was basically dead to me from that point on.. however, oddly enough, recently as my interest in sc2 fades I start to respect BW even more.

SC2 is just not a great game. I know it's exploded esports in the west and i LOVE it for that. You can't buy the attraction esports has gotten since SC2 has released. However, I feel as though sc2 is being shoved down our throats. After 2 years and little to no improvement to the UI or the gameplay, I think now that the hype has subsided it's just not nearly as interesting or engaging as broodwar, or any 'good' game.

I don't think the units are as interesting or the gameplay is as deep or exciting and it really hurts the spectacle of watching or playing the game. The game is simply more boring. The strategy, the micro, the unit interactions it's just not as good. It's the game we have and the game that's 'carrying' esports, but it's not the game we deserve. We deserve something much better.

I think SC2 would have been so much better if they just cleaned up the UI, kept the BW units and maybe added small, user friendly features like auto mine, or maybe even MBS, and unlimited selection slots.

I hope HOTS brings something major because as much as I try, I just get bored with SC2. I didn't get bored of broodwar or even war3.

Dota 2 to dota 1, is what SC2 should have been to BW.

I never played sc1 or warcraft,so i dont know the differences personally in the interface. When i played WoW the biggest thing i loved in that game is the guild system, the calender was such a good way to keep organised as a clan.If sc2 gets a clan system & a Clan war system then i dont see a reason why not add a calender for the clan system to keep track from CW.A calender could be used for other purpose's,even if you are not in a Clan, you could sue the calender to see up coming eSports events like mlg, iem, ipl, gsl etc.. There could prob be a lot more uses for it,but i cant think of any more right now.
Where do whores go?

Because 1base/2base plays in this game are easy as fuck, and strong as fuck. Welcome to the ceiling cap. Where playing long, macro style games are a joke because why not just do an easy ass 1base all in 1/3 the time? Honestly, Im more excited to play Barrins 7m/6m1hyg maps because they take away all the stupid 1base/2base bullshit in this game.

I have been getting back into it recently but it's hard to stay motivated. Don't have many people to play with and like others have the said, the interface of SC2 makes it feel lonely and cold. My only option is to grind out games which is boring as fuck.

The gameplay is a huge problem as well. I dislike the whole hard counter system it has with the units. Makes blind countering really dumb and it forces strict unit compositions most of the time. This leads to frustrating losses on my end. Just lacks spark imo. I can't even focus on improving as a player since all I am doing really is stopping these stupid fucking allins all the time. I am too busy having to get good at stopping all these allins instead of improving as a player.

My thoughts exactly. It was new and shiny but after time I started missing that thing I fell in love with so long ago.

Yeah its just not as fun as it could be. I played BW for 6-8 years and never stopped. Had a crew of people we would chill on battle.net and then iCCup when it came out. We would try and get better than the other guys all the time. Nowaday when I log on its just me and the find match button. Its just not fun.

The game itself is not as fun as it could have been. Hard counter style of unit is just bad design imo. Oh you made vikings to kill his collosus and suceeded. Great. But now he is going more templar zealot heavy and your vikings are useless agaisnt 3/3 chargelot of glory. Those kind of things and the deathball mechanic are just no fun. Kinda makes me sad.

do you really think 600000 ranked players in season 5 1v1 are "nobody" ? (after 18 month circa from release)

Sometimes i get bored and sometimes i come back ... and this happens to thousands of players and this is nothing strange and nothing to worry about. IMHO.

It feels like "nobody" because we are all divided into 5 different servers, time zones and auto-MM with hidden MMR without cross region play.

Oh and lobby chat channels, clan support etc etc.
