What is this?
Welcome to the D Ranks Team League Season 2! Following the success of the first season, CobaltBlu has expressed a desire to continue the league. Sadly, he is being obstructed by real life issues, so I am taking up the mantle.
This is a for fun team league for players in the D ranks. The aim is to provide a team for new/lower level players to practice with. Hopefully, this will achieve two things: Interest more people in Brood War, and help you get better at it. While having fun. Hopefully Season 2 will be even better than Season 1 too!
When?
The league starts on February 25 2012 18:00 GMT and takes place on every Saturday following that. It will conclude on April 28 2012 17:00 GMT followed by a two week playoff.
Where?
The tournament will be held in channel op DRTL on the iCCup server.

Format:
Teams will play one bo7 with an ace match each week with lineups submitted by Wednesday night. A different player must be sent for each of the first six maps. If the match reaches a 3-3 result a player from each team's roster will be chosen on the spot by both team captains for the Ace match. The selected players will play a bo1 to decide the outcome for that map.First to team to win four maps won wins the match however you should play out all the games. Teams must use all races if possible in each match.
Rules:
If you have an issue during match time please contact DRTL.Nikon on iCCup to resolve it.
- No excessive BMing. Manner CCs, hatcheries and Nexii, as well as pylon hearts, however, are encouraged.
- Winning team sends replays to dteamleague@gmail following the matches.
- Standard ICCUP rules apply.
- No excessive chatting, e.g. do not be distracting during the middle of the game.
- If players are race pickers they must announce their races within 12 hours of the lineups getting posted.
- Players need to identify which team they are playing with in their profile during match time.
- Players must play using the ID they used to sign up.
- Games must be played on the maps listed in the schedule.
- Maps must come from the latest ICCUP mappack.
- If a player disconnects in the first three minutes then a regame will be granted. If the same player disconnects again they will be d/q. Any disconnect after three minutes will be reviewed by DRTL.Nikon unless one of the players willingly forfeits.
- 1) I am going to temporarily close the signups. The current team rosters are what you will have to work it for next week's matches. This measure would be subject to change in the future.
- 2) The currnet deadline on lineups remains. For every 24 hours that you fall behind the schedule, your team will receive a warning.
- 3) You will be able to postpone a game if you and your opponent agree to do it. To do so, both people must PM me with the following information:
-The name you signed up with.
-The name your opponent signed up with.
-Both players' teams.
-Time that you have postponed the game to.
In case that your opponent does not show at the rescheduled time (and he has requested the rescheduling of the game), you are required to be present on game night. You are also required to provide screenshots with the time included in them regardless of who has requested the change of time. The game will then be subjected to standard walkover rules. Additionaly, there will be a deadline for postponement: you must arrange the postponement no later than 12 hours before the scheduled game time. Any notifications I receive after the deadline would be discarded.
- 4) Substitutes:
Substitute requests may be granted in some circumstances. They are as follows:
- Both players are experiencing connection issues with each other. In that case teams will be given the ability to sub in a player, provided that he is the same race as the player he is replacing, and has not been included in the current week's lineup. If such a case were to arise, it would be possible to sub out both sides of the match, as per the aforementioned rule. Team captain(s) would be required to notify me of the current situation at hand, regardless of the circumstances. If they do not notify me, standard walkover rules apply.
- 5) Standard walkover rules: If your opponent isn't present a walkover win would be granted after 15 minutes have passed. If the opponent is late but no later than 15 minutes, a warning would be issued.
- 6) Every 2 warnings will result in a -1 set added to your teams' losses in the scoreboard. This could cost your team a playoff spot, so be careful.
- 7) After the 25th of March, I will be adjusting the league starting time by one hour to compensate for dayling savings time.
- 8) Winning team's captain must PM me the result of their match.
Who can play:
This league is only for D-/D/D+ rank players who are willing to participate consistently.
How to Sign up:
Since this is the second season, previous season teams will be allowed to re-enter the competition. If you didn't participate in the previous season, but want to form a team with your friends and enter it, it will also be allowed. After the teams have signed up, free agents will be drafted according to what team captains need. If you want to sign up as a team, PM me on the forums.

If you are a higher rank player, but think you'll have the time to help out, you can sign up as a coach.
Draft rules:
Newly formed teams will have the first picks. Then the teams that were at the last places last season will pick, working their way up to the first place holder. Then the process is reversed. This will be repeated as long as it's needed. The draft will be held on the February 18 2012 18:00 GMT[local]. If you sign up as a free agent, after the date the draft is held, you still can get in the league, but obivously, you'll be last picks so hurry up

Hi, I'm a D- player that still haven't won a match on iccup, I'M still not sure What race i will play but IM deciding between Zerg and Protoss, if i could come on a team i would be Happy to Start practising some BW.

I don't think so. I remember last season someone wanted to sign up with an offrace and were rejected. But then again I am not running this thing and wait for an official statement. |

I would like to put my entry in as either a member of T1 or a free agent, as the status of T1 is not yet clear. Last season we suffered greatly due to lack of participation and leadership. This is why I am entering as such. To be entirely honest, I am a C rank high from a year ago but in this current season I have not settled at anything higher than D+ with 35% winrate, which has made me and hopefully makes me eligible for further play. 2 of the 3 or so other members of my team that I have met (all of them) also said they will not be able to play this season so I feel that my application as a potential FA is justified.

Last season I let people sign up as coaches and help out teams but I didn't totally integrate it into the league. I'm not running this season though so you will have to wait for Nikon's response.Last edit: 2012-02-14 04:48:13 |
