I agree. This race picking drama needs to be nipped in the bud before it really starts to get ugly. Pick a race, and play.
PM your opponent once the line-up are chosen, if someone is random let him be, and if someone offraces for a match-up, it only causes a problem if two people meet, in that case, let them decide this between them. I don't really see the problem.
The problem is that the person who signed up with multiple races gets to change his race after knowing his opponents' race. I'm not saying he can't play different races or matchups, I'm saying he needs to determine what race he will play when the lineup is sent just like the rest of us.
Let's say I want to play FS because Team X has been sending the same player on that map every week, and he has weak TvP. He sees that he is facing a P, and then chooses Z instead, after knowing he would be at a disadvantage. That's not fair imo. Note: I am not saying that the person has to choose just 1 race every game, they should have the freedom of saying PvT TvZ ZvT for example. But what the hell does both Z and P mean? It just means that they pick as they feel like it, imaginably after knowing their opponent.
I'm not blaming anyone of doing this, I'm saying it's a possibility and that's not right. |

No BMing
Winning team sends replays to dteamleague@gmail following the matches.
Standard ICCUP rules apply
No excessive chatting, ie do not be distracting during the middle of the game
If two players are race pickers they must announce their races before joining the game.
Copied it up to the rule I wanted, you're not a race picker and so, being a race picker, I don't have to announce till game according to the rules. |

Derp... It clearly states that you only need to announce before the game if both racepick... dunno where you have any evidence to back these claims up with. The rules are fairly straight forward. |

Personally, I don't care enough about it to carry on a lengthy argument, but my opinion is it's kind of lame, and if people don't state explicitly what matchups they play but instead only 'announce' their race when the game is about to start it's just dumb. I spend maybe 3-4 hours a week playing BW if that, I was very happy to see that we'll know our upcoming matchups in advance because it gives me an opportunity to try out builds that may be more interesting than just generic "get 3 bases, max out, a-move" stuff; I can't do that if I don't know what race my opponent will play. The fact that a race-picker sidesteps matchups they consider themselves to be less comfortable in is already an advantage in itself, I really don't see why shouldn't I know their picks in advance. |

That's one case out of many potential cases. Sethronu just outlined the opposite case, where the player who doesn't racepick is highly limited on time, meaning the racepicker can get in over twice as much practice (half the matchups, more time.) Everything else held equal, the racepicker who doesn't announce his matchup simply has an unfair advantage in practice time. The advantage may be insignificant or forgivable, but it's an advantage nonetheless.
That said I'd like to ask again if Team 4 or Advisory could please reveal Advisory's matchup scheme? |

Well, the way I see it, if there isn't really a requirement to state the matchups you will play, I might as well cite myself as a racepicker and just 4-pool / proxy rax whenever I feel like I'm playing an unfavourable matchup or map. I mean, why not? |

I for one prepare with my specific opponent in mind. It would be stupid not to and it's not a question of dedication at all. Some ppl play 50 practice games a week and watch 10 relevant progames in preparation for their match. Then there are ppl who play 5 practice games and only watch 1 progame vod. If you know the race of your opponent it helps your preparation in both cases, because you know what matchup to study and practice.
The solution to this problem is simple. When sending the lineup, just make sure that all matchups are written out, like this.

When it's written out like that it's pretty obvious that he plays ZvP, PvZ and ZvT, so his opponent will know what race to prepare for.

in regard to the whole race picking situation... i strongly agree that you shouldve be allowed to pick what race u want day of the match because like the others said you already know what to practice for etcetcetc. i have a few people on my team that play different races as well and its pretty obv solution what i have done when i send in my lineups on wed. if your partner wants to say play as zerg vs a protoss but his main race is zerg u strictly write in the line up to nikon ***NAME**** Terran (Zerg if opponent protoss) ....
and in regards to the person who said people dont train for the matchups i think most people actually do i mean although this is a d league people still treat it as a league... not just to have fun but they still want to win and prove that they have what it takes to either by like this quoted person said training 50 games watching 10 vods or playing very minimal games at all |
