Price needs to be lower. $15 for 2 months of GSL content seems fair. $20 for 2 days is not.
MLG here is what I am willing to pay: $60 for the same as last year (six Pro Circuit events).

Theres no reason to believe that this will help 'raise standards' as opposed to 'make MLG a shit ton of profit if successful'. Nor do I care about 'raised standards' if it means SC2 will become an expensive, PPV-laden hobby. I paid for 4 seasons of GSL before it became unreasonably priced, I've paid for two ESL.tv events (very low price, much higher quality than this event will be). I hope this initiative fails and people don't become suckered by the ever-present 'support E-sports!!1!' lines, but we'll see and good luck to MLG and the events to follow this in the future if it succeeds. |

Everything they had last year is the same. You can watch the equivalent of the stuff they had last year for free, or you can get HD for a little money.
The new content that they are adding this year that wasn't in place last year now is going to cost money. |

For one, the GSL is a better deal in EVERY SINGLE WAY, and two it is the same weekend as another tournament with a good player list as well. Oh yeah, and they offer a free stream. |

| I am going to be watching Assembly I guess. $20 for a 3 day tournament just is not worth it to me. They should have at least offered a discount price for people who already have an MLG gold membership. I hope the games are good, but it is not worth my money at this point. |

| I tried to skim through the thread to make sure I'm not repeating anything, but why didn't they make the event available to live spectators? I feel like an audience would provides a lot of the excitement in a tournament and the money they can get would probably cover the venue cost and then some seeing as how they already have computers for the event and IEM has already shown that NYC has buildings that can accommodate such a tournament. I mean why spend the tens (maybe hundred?) thousands of dollars flying in players without any fans or anything. It seems like a mix of HSC and a regular LAN tournament without really accommodating either. |

What the hell? 20$? I paid 15 for this season of GSL and am getting like 10x the content (if not more) plus higher quality production + higher quality play + higher quality casters.
I really hope this fails hard. I could afford the 20$ if I wanted too but I will absolutely not pay for this simply because of how they are pricing it relative to the GSL while being a worse tournament. It is completely ridiculous.Last edit: 2012-02-14 08:31:55 |

im paying for the gsl since season 1 and im fine with that.
but i wont pay for mlg. i know that i wont watch the vods and im pretty sure that i wont be able to watch all 3 days...so 20$ are just too much. |
