NFL: Bounties are bad! We are punishing the Saints really harshly! Everyone else stop doing it, like seriously, we know you probably all are because like a bajillion players said it was but we aren't going to prosecute you for whatever reason but still like please stop doing it okay?

Man, people can talk all about cover ups and stuff. I'm trying to understand how there were 50,000 pages of "evidence" for a bounty pool that apparently never exceeded $50,000. Real bullshit.

Thing is, NOTHING came out of it. The Saints were actually one of the least fined teams for violations the last few years. The worst two injuries they caused were actually to Sean Payton (broken leg) when Graham was pushed out of bounds on to him, and another time some member of the chain gang got hit in the dome after a player went out of bounds. Huh. I'm looking at all you other players who accuse the Saints of being a "dirty team".

Goodell better bring the National Guard with him if he wants to attend the Super Bowl, cuz aint no way he's getting into New Orleans unharmed, lol.

Bret Farve? Did you even watch that game even the refs apologized to Bret afterwords for not throwing out the defenders that wanted to take him out of the game. He never played anywhere like he did after that game. The problem is that these people are giveing away money to hurt people and ruin their careers. If you think that shouldn't be punished harshly then you're blind and stupid. I hope you enjoy the an'ts coming back because thats what they deserve after this.

Are you seriously blaming Brett's one miracle season ending because of that? He was old. He was out of shape. Sure, I'll grant there were a couple illegal late hits, and I'll even give you that they were influenced by the presence of a bounty. However, most hits were perfectly clean but hard, just like they should be. If anything, you're saying there was a problem with the officiating with the game. The problem is that pretty much all teams have/ had bounty systems, and the Saints seem to have been singled out.

You obviously didn't read my post at all and just posted a generic "oh, Saints fans bitching" response.

Pick any game of the season and you'll see similar type of hits. That was a horribly officiated game, but it doesn't take away from the fact that there was nothing special about the type of plays that were made against Favre.

Thing is, people are already getting paid to hurt people. It's simply in their contracts under a different name. Every defensive player probably has clauses in their to get bonuses based on the amount of tackles and making more tackles can result in injuring more players. This is simply under the table.

Saints thought they were bigger than the league and Goodell thinks he literally IS the league. I can understand if these suspensions were handed out solely based on how the Saints continued to defy the league based on this, just don't sell me the bullshit that this ruling is all about protecting the players.

Give me a single illegal play that clearly demonstrates a will to cause serious injury and can be linked to an organizational policy to cause intentional injury and I might believe you.

Awesome Lions off-season signing wise, able to keep everyone except Eric Wright from their play-off team from last year; specifically getting Tulloch on a five-year deal for much less than what D'Qwell Jackson is getting in Cleveland.

Why the hell wouldn't the Raiders just pay him? Bush is a solid back who could probably start at some places or at least take the lead in a platoon. Run DMC rules, but like sixfour said, he is bound to get hurt. Didn't he have a linsfranc last year??

The Bears also just continue to piss off Forte. He's gonna end up sitting. Pay an outsider, neglect the dude already on your team who kills it?? It's Thomas Jones all over again

I guess the Bears really dont want to re-sign Forte beyond this year. Some team is going to be really happy next year with their new RB.

To be fair, his injury was due to someone falling and hitting him in the knee with his helmet. He's done 16 games every season besides this past one

hi I love you
Stanton traded to the Colts. This actually isn't a bad spot for him, depending on how whatever rookie plays, he might get some decent playing time, for better or worse

Forte is just another example of Running backs being replaceable. Teams aren't going to drop insane money into RBs anymore with it being a passing league. QBs, WR, and TE are a much harder thing to come by and will be making the big bucks now. It's sad because Forte had such a break out season but look at teams like NO and NE. No high paid star RB. and teams like TEN, HOU, STL....etc. did what exactly? Even MIN, Sure Houston made the play off but with Schaub gone they were just a shell of their former selves.

Whats to question? He said most hits were perfectly legal hard hits. That means some could have been illegal and should have been flagged. These two thoughts are not independent of each other.

That is a pretty good spot to end up for him. Obviously if Luck (or RG3 if the Colts throw out a curve ball) isn't ready for some reason, he is competing for the job to hold down the #1 spot until whoever is ready. It didn't seem like the Colts were particularly enamored with any of their QBs last season, so he has a shot there.

Forte is just another example of teams that think running backs are replaceable. It may be a passing league, but nothing can replace a really good running back. Just ask the Texans, who are suddenly relevant post Arian Foster and with a good defense, or the Titans who saw what their team looks like without a dominant CJ.

Cutler has a good arm, but is a mediocre QB when it comes to winning. Anyone who thinks it wasn't Forte who carried that team last year is delusional. That team has no chance of making the playoffs without him.

And saying TE's are harder to come by is laughable. There are so many good TE's in the league now that it is absolutely no problem to find one that can run routes and catch the ball. Are they all like Gronkowski or Graham? No...of course not. But there are plenty good ones out there.

Waiting for the competition committee to make Tebowing a 15-yard penalty.

On the radio, they were talking about Washington trading away pretty much all future shit to rise up to the #2 pick just to pick up RG3. Basically, they're putting in all their chips on one player. Not really a good idea. And Washington's management is really good at thinking up bad ideas. I don't know if this is rumored or in discussion at the moment. I'm not at all a Washington fan, but it pains me to hear they might fuck up once again.

As a Seahawks fan, I wanted to put in my 2 cents about the Matt Flynn signing. I'm not all that excited, nor hopeful, that he will be much better than T. Jackson. I'm glad Seattle did something to try and rise in the NFC West again. A division title is possible, as I wonder how effective Alex Smith will be next season given that he is so unloved and almost shipped away for a shot at Peyton Manning. But I remain skeptical.

I don't have much to say about Peyton Manning going to Denver, other than that they will probably win the the not-so-good AFC West without much of a fuss. I want to see Manning play before I make any predictions beyond that.

I have too much to say about Tebow going to New York. Though allow me to take this shot: Last season, the Broncos advanced because of their great defense. They held strong to compensate for their horribly inaccurate and larger-than-life QB, who was defined as "clutch" simply because he put his team in a bad situation the entire game until the end and made himself the hero. But recall that even behind this good defense, New England slaughtered Denver, twice. Now Tebow's with the Jets, who have to play NE twice... Does acquiring Tebow really give the Jets a better chance against the Pats? Doesn't seem like it to me...

Fuck philly and kof

Cutler is way more than a mediocre QB. No doubt that Forte was a huge part of that success, but at the same time, a major part of the reason he succeeded was that Cutler's ability to keep defenses honest somewhat mitigates shit OL play

I think Flynn can very easily go either way, but at 3 years, it isn't gonna kill their franchise if he tanks. I think Smith will still be ok. I don't think the Manning situation really got to him, and overall he was compensated quite fairly I'd say. If anything, he still owes the Niners for not being cut like two or three years ago (even if they gave him a toxic atmosphere)
