| RoA if you're jungling is pretty bad in general. You get it late and it's not as effective as in lane. Aegis and HoG are better hp sources in the jungle. |

| As for "getting it late", would you consider it situationally if you got some really good ganks for kills/assists and had the extra gold? In that case, I wouldn't really want HoG, since I don't need the additional Gp5, I'd think. |

RoA seems... ok on him I guess. I dunno, he scales well off HP and his AP ratios aren't bad, but his mana pool is fucking crazy (1100 @ 18, wtf?) and as such I don't see why he would need the mana stat off RoA. Also just seems like he scales better off CDR and resists, so I'd be hesitant to invest that 3K+ in RoA, even if I had it. |

I think I'd like RoA on him played top, but not in the jungle. As BP says, you get it late, and I'd much rather get CDR on him than HP/AP in this period of time, to get my shield up for each camp and anchor the fuck out of gankees.
Only game I played as top I started philo (for mana regen) into RoA, perhaps I could just get RoA first. I just don't like that idea of "no sustain till 1650" (factoring in boots but not pots/wards) on a melee champ, but I'm often wrong.  |

| Remember that the %hp on his shield scales with resists and hp, while the non-scaling portion of his shield only scales with resists. In other words, resists first then hp. |

He's more of a Maokai/Blitzcrank style: powerful by himself, great burst early on which tends to fall off despite good ratios because you build tanky, highly disruptive, philo-HoG style jungler, awesome ganks.
He has a hook, shield, AoE slow, and his ult is kind of a delayed Malph ult I guess, since it knocks up everything in its path while it advances to the champ you targeted. |

Nah, you'd miss out on a free auto. Didn't they change it so that all champions attempt to AA directly after a gapcloser? I'm 99% sure that applies for the monkey aswell. Sure, later on, it's not a big deal, but I'd argue the difference between having that AA or not having it can be pretty detrimental early game.
monkey will attempt to auto after E and then you can mix in a Q right after for a lot more damage but the Q is not guaranteed and sometimes you'll chase for it if you don't do it perfectly. makes for an easy first blood everytime though. Eauto Q repeat till they are low. lol kinda like gp or panth but a little stronger |

| Snoopeh did it a lot. I think I remember him going cloth+5 but this was old jungle (haven't seen it since revamp) and kinda worked off dinging 3 at wraith's if I remember right for a really fast grab and pop up gank at mid. |

For anyone needing clarification: the flat part of his shield will give him hp, which contributes to his survivability multiplicatively with armor/mr. The scaling part of his shield ALSO contributes multiplicatively with armor/mr, so in a sense it scales off both.
The intent is primarily to address a misconception that some people have, namely that buying flat health is better on champions with defensive abilities that scale off of %maxhp.

| my only thoughts is that i dont like it. his gap closer being a skill shot while not the worst thing in the world is a shot in the foot compared to volibear, moakai etc etc. i know people are gonna say "skill shots are easy" but its still added difficulty. |

If you can get in range you absolutely should auto > Q > auto > E > auto. Q gives them a massive armour debuff and E is a physical damage nuke so doing it that way gets you a lot more damage. If you can't get in range then E first is what you do, but Q first is much more damage. I think if we want to talk about wukong more tho it should probably go in the champ thread. |

Philo + HoG is almost always going to be better than Catalyst for junglers. Catalyst is 300g cheaper, but it only takes 5 minutes for double gp10 to make up for that.
The other side of it is that Catalyst only builds into items with direct personal benefit (RoA, BV). Most junglers who build double gp10 are very team-oriented, and items that reflect that are preferable. |
