Today the compLexity Syndicate is happy to announce that we have returned to DotA with the acquisition of Team Fire. After fielding one of the best teams in North American history we are excited to welcome a DotA2 squad considered to be one of the best in the world:

- Tyler “TC” Cook
- Michael “ixmike88” Ghannam
- Brian “FLUFFNSTUFF” Lee
- Jio “Jeyo” Madayag
- Tony “HANNAH_MONTANA” Talavera
- Brian "Chappy" Chapman, Manager

coL.DotA is currently ranked #1 in the world by GosuGamers and #2 by ESFI.

Jason Lake, compLexity founder and CEO had this to say:

We're thrilled to be part of the DotA community once again. DotA2 has brought new life to the genre and it's only appropriate that we field a global contender. We've done our homework and spoken with lots of teams. We're confident in this roster and expect big things.

Brian Chapman, coL.DOTA manager commented:

We simply could not be more honoured to join such a prestigious eSports icon. Complexity has always been the beacon of North American eSports and we proudly join the players before us in continuing its tradition of excellence, dedication and respect. Our goals are aligned and we look forward to realizing them together, ensuring that North American Dota is a force to be reckoned with, and that it's here to stay.

"coL.DotA is currently ranked #1 in the world by GosuGamers and #2 by ESFI."

yeaaah, i mean theyre probably really really good and stuff but if theyre gonna market themselves as #1 in the world were already starting off on the wrong foot.
i cant dispute the ggnet/esfi rankings but until i see them going up against navi/chinese teams i have my doubts.

that being said i wish the team the best of luck.

They aren't pasting themselves as anything but an American team hoping for the best. They ARE rank 1 in the world based on those two websites rankings, not by anything else but those websites.

??? i'm confused.

Well I don't really know how you can dispute that number 1 spot anyway. The only other team you could really put up there is Na'Vi and the 2 team haven't met yet iirc. They've basically beaten everybody else(Their one loss coming to EG), and bringing up chinese teams is a moot point. With that 20-1 record I don't think anybody can argue they shouldn't deserve either 1st or 2nd in any ranking right now.

What are the chinese teams atm? why r they being moot? visa problems?
Bioware is like Wade. The best armor smith in Denerim who can make a masterpiece of an armor set if given enough time. EA is like Herren, who makes Wade rush his armor sets and the quality isn't nearly as good but they make more money. Wade made a mistake

They've largely not participated yet in the dota 2 tournaments, with dota 1 still going strong.
I liked Dota before it was Mainstream.

please dont get me wrong im not trying to hate on coL.dota.
i actually loved the interview fluffnstuff gave on ggnet and srsly wish them all the best.
but pointing to those stats and saying "were the best in the world" after a samplesize of 21 games (from ggnet rankings, all online iirc) just feels extremely wrong.

and fwiw i dont even think thats how the team would describe itself. its just the coL publicity machine.

Maybe I'm missing the statement here, but do you mean the "#1 ranked in the world by GosuGamers" is a statement the team is the best in the world? It simply means they are the #1 ranked team by the GosuGamers ranking, which is an acomplishment that they can be proud of and there is nothing wrong by stating it. It's a fact. That rankings don't have to mean the team is actually the best should be common knowledge, their statement already says they are also #2 at a diferent ranking. If the rankings use wrong stats for placements or something like that is a diferent issue. I just don't see where you got that vibe from what I could read, he says "one of the best in NA history", which isn't exactly as huge as it may seem, and a global contender, which is definatelly true right now, but I couldn't watch the video.

I love that Fire got sponsored so NA DotA scene could be a bit brighter but coL isnt that great of a name among the sc2 scene. They simply picking up every sc2 players that they could regardless of skill level but mainly based on how marketable the player is. Truely hope that Fire got a good deal out of this.
