He played really well, and Terrans are still doing extremely well in tournaments.
Everyone including Stephano lol.. he just said ghosts are bad and Zerg is good. Also, I dont know why people keep saying Terrans are doing "extremely well" in tournaments. Korean Terrans are. Foreign Terrans have been struggling for a very long time. The last one to win a major live event was Jinro at MLG DC... well over a year ago.
well, koreans win all of the tournaments (korean or foreign), so its not surprising that we dont see non-foreign terrans winning anything. ;-)
Not true. We've had Huk, Naniwa, idra, Stephano, and Dimaga win. Mana has been in the finals 3 times.
lol. the last foreigner win was in october.
There was also a huge break in foreign tournaments.
by huge break, you mean only 2-3 huge tournaments per month? http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Premier_Tournaments
Are you even listening to what you are saying? If you actually read that list you'll be hard pressed to find any foreigners that win tournaments in general. And most of the tournament wins are by Terrans. Of course you'll go on to point out the runs of Huk and Naniwa, but the thing is when Huk was winning tournaments, he was considered the best protoss at that time, and Naniwa beat the best Koreans in the world, show me a foreign terran that can do that.
why can foreign toss and zergs beat the best Koreans in the world, but "show me a foreign terran that can do that."
We dont got many Terrans in the foreign scene while we got tons of Protoss and Zergs
But Kas, Thorzain still doing very well

I'm not going to take anything away from Stephano, he played an amazing series, and it's nice to see a foreigner holding his own against koreans, time and time again. Every game was pretty much the same story though, Stephano utilizing the power of tech-switching, forcing Polt into a unit compostion which will deal with Wave # 1 just fine, but is terrible vs the inevitable wave # 2. You force Terran into anti-ultra, take a fight, switch onto broodlords, all of a sudden Terran is left with 15+ tanks and marauders which they can't really do much with unless they go around the map avoiding a direct engagement forever, looking to trade those tanks and marauders somewhat efficiently.
I think we terrans need to start looking into mech TvZ again, seeing how the 3-3 200/200 mech army is pretty capable to deal with just about anything that Zerg has, if accompanied by vikings.
Not really. Until T gets back to normal levels again, we have an enviable number of weapons that the other races jealously refer to as cheese and all ins. They should be used more. Banshees. Reapers. Helions. MMM. Bunkers. Make them suffer.
In fact, with the number of early game options available to Terran, it's a disservice not to use them every single game, unless you're doing an "eco-cheese".
Congratulations to Stephano, he's a great player. I just wish he was brave enough and had the desire to stay in Korea. |

Probably the same people who always talk about balance.
Or maybe they understand than investing heavily in anti-psionic only (because they have no other purpose right now) is suicide against a race that tech-switches like its nothing
Yeah this is the main reason Ghosts are probably a bad idea vs Zerg at any point except maybe when you are ahead and the Zerg can not tech switch. |

If he lost, he was "clearly overhyped" - now that he won a tournament AGAIN, he only had mediocre opponents.
I wondered who these haters are - so I looked up their nationalities in this and other threads and drew a surprising conclusion: The vast majority of his haters are from Canada. Why? Why of all TL.net users do so many Canadian ones dislike Stephano? Is it that they can't deal with the fact that Huk lost the throne of being the best foreigner? I can't think of a better reason.
its because he is from USA and Canadians hate the USA because we have freedom.

Inc did the best with what he had and if you ask me his questions (even though there was repetition between the player ones) did a good job. |

Yeah and I woke up 30min ago, but it's dumb because I can't watch the recorded stream. It's sad :s, in Europe if you have a normal job watching the grand finals was just not possible.

The stream was on twitch, so it was automatically archived as VODS.
Here is the whole 13 hours long stream from today.
http://www.twitch.tv/lonestarclash/b/312086279
The winners bracket Final is at the 7hr mark. So jump to there. Obviously the Grand Final is later on at 11hr 10 mins mark. Definitely watch both series.

| The reason why terrans feel they are "underpowered" is because they have been over powered for such a long time that when they are finally balance, it feels they take so much more effort to play. They don't want to put in the effort, they just want a easy game. I understand, its not your race, its you. even artosis says terrans who think they are underpowered should face the truth and understand their race is not underpowered. Its just the player who is too used to easy games that when it takes effort after terran is finally balance, they just can't do it. Last edit: 2012-03-19 14:56:44 |

So far I haven't seen any other high level terran whine about the race being under-powered except Demuslim in the context of Terran vs Protoss. It's just mostly foreigner bias causing all this balance nonsense.Last edit: 2012-03-19 14:59:27 |
