A t-shirt will last a lot longer than an MLG event. Plus I can take this shirt to events like PAX and possibly get some awesome signatures on it. Throwing a sharpie and t-shirt at my monitor will not get it signed unfortunately. |

How to print your own money.
Make limited edition T-shirts for probably the most popular (though least successful) starcraft team.
Sell said Tshirts in limited batches.
2500 T's = $62,500.00. Talk about good return on investment.
I do wish they were more affordable.

Ok I gotta pipe in here finally after seeing a couple of these posts. This math is all wrong lol. Anyone in business knows that the actual "profit" from a product sold is not exactly equal to the price of the product. Keep in mind that TL is in fact using another company (Teesey Tees) to make these shirts, of which their average shirt sells for around $18-$-20 on their main website. These shirts are also much more complicated to make (requiring lasers etc.) than Teesey Tees typical shirt order. They even blog about the complexity on their website.
Based on on the fact that Teesey Tees is getting mass-orders from TL, we can assume that TL gets a discount. But it's probably not THAT much of a discount. I'm betting TL pays around $15 a shirt for the mass production of these (more complicated) shirts. Shipping is not a factor in the profit margin because TL is carrying the shipping on to the customer.
So if these basic assumptions are even close to correct then $25 - $15 = $10 profit a shirt = $25,000 profit for Team Liquid.
That's not a small amount of money, but it also isn't $62,500. Last edit: 2012-02-18 14:58:39 |

Actually typical commercial flat-rate ground or economy shipping is about 5$.
edit: I meant for the individual customer.

Good point. However I don't think Teesey Tees is charging TL for shipping - they do free shipping for orders of 3 or more.
Furthmore and regardless, I don't think TL actually has the shirts in their possession either. It's more likely that they are simply carrying on the order to Teesey Tee's wharehouse and having them ship them out, saving on costs for both parties.
Wouldn't make much sense to have TL recieve a shipment then hire people to re-mail them to customers when they can carry the shipping fees from Teesey Tee's over to the customer!
Doesn't matter to me either way, I bought one and don't regret it!Last edit: 2012-02-18 15:08:46 |
