Hi. I recently started playing Dota 2 Beta, and I am really fond of that game and most of the time enjoy myself while playing on the ladder.
But sometimes, the matchmaking seems to be pretty flawed, as you get ranked with and against guys who never even touched the game, who take Venge with 12 Tangos and rush mid without talking all game long...
I really appreciate newbies who want to get into the game and I actually try to help them out and explain a little bit of the basic Idea/Item Build behind the hero they are playing, and their feedback and progress during the game is really refreshing.
However there are situations where you just want to play a straight up game, not having to explain everything 10 minutes and also not having to watch Weaver going Shadow Blade (yes, I actually saw one guy do that) or your carry auto-attacking the creeps towards the enemy tower and ending up with 140 gpm after 40 minutes.
I don't want to be mean and isolate newer players and thats not what this thread is for. I just you to vaguely describe how experienced you are and with what type of player you want to play with, such as:
"New to DotA, searching for someone to help me out a bit on the ladder and showing me some tricks so that I can get better!"
or
"Played DotA 4 years, now wanting to play with some experienced Team mates, can play support."
TL;DR: I basically want you to tell me with whom you'd like to play with, so that teaming up and matchmaking in dota gets a little more fun and organized! Just write your response and your experience and we can contact you via PM and play together!

| Been playing dota since reign of chaos and played alot of hon since it came out but not much recently (1800 with the new compressed mmr). Have less time than i used to but still love to play some casual dota. |

| The problem is, to actually start winning. It's kinda random, the last ridiculous game i played, i randomed (first pick) Morphling, and my other 4 teammates then decided to pick 4 melee carrys. How is that supposed to win? It's just based on luck wether your team mates suck or nor, and if they don't its still not an auto win. |

Teamcomp really doesn't mean anything at lower levels. All you need to do is farm well and go mid since the other team doesnt know how to farm, push or gank with smoke etc. Last edit: 2012-02-19 02:41:34 |

I never said that my opponents were that dumb... Just sometimes we get ranked with and vs total newbies.
And I doubt that it is possible to farm with eihter 2 double melee lanes or 1 double melee lane and melee mid... |

Hey Gold (or is it Cat),
Been reflecting on this situation myself, actually. A short story:
Seems like nearly every game in matchmaking I get paired with people who, within the first few seconds of draft, decide to go carry, carry, even needier carry. (Fairly common set: Drow, Void, Sniper. [Parentheses within parentheses: have you noticed that every single noob LOVES Sniper? WTF?] ).
Being the nice guy that I am, I try to go support or gank support to be helpful and try to let the carries freefarm while I harass.
How it ends: It's 48 minutes in, I'm max with (insert your favorite support gear here) with ~200 CS; my carries are level 11 with shadow blades (ha!) and 38 CS.
How did it happen? I harass and end up getting a few kills. My (silent) team roams around willy nilly.
What happens next? If I'm a support that can soft-carry or a pusher (Lich, Enchantress, Rhasta) I can sometimes pull off a big win in spite of my team. Generally, though, I sit with my CM, Lina, Lion, etc. and just cry myself to sleep.
I fully endorse this thread.
So my about me:
Played Dota2 since before International (never played Dota1 but does it matter?) -- LOVE playing a support with a good team but otherwise I'll just solo mid thank you very much.

I have been playing dota1 since 2005, so it's about 7 years since I started. I usually play with a friend or two and get a few people from the Teamliquid channel for mm. I play carries most of the time average about 600gold/min each game. But I also play support when I'm tired or when someone else wants to carry.

| Been playing HoN for a really really long time, always play support even when I'm solo-queueing so support4lyfe. Got a Dota2 key a few days ago, only managed to play two games but played both and ended up with highest gpm in both games with furion |

am also looking to find a regular group.
Played for a few years on and off but never organised and consider myself noob. Know about 3/4 of the heros but fail really hard with cm (move bitch move). I am on the noob end of the scale as will make a couple of terrible judgements a game - mainly because i inevitably end up having to find a way to initiate in pubs. Looking for people to beat out all the bad habits i've gotten from pubbing, talk about the game and generally have fun with it.
But am playing 2-3 games a night atm. currently aiming to play 10 games with every hero.
Like you get annoyed with pubs and the randomness of people - as said above there is no point in letting the carry get the farm in pubs as he is probably going to fuck it up. I just want to play the game properly.Last edit: 2012-02-20 01:43:13 |

I read something somewhere that made me laugh that sounded a little like this;
"if you go support in matchmaking, your carry sucks. If you go carry so does everyone else"
And i find that true for my whole experience. Once in a while you find a great set of players often for me its not. Im trying to start streaming aswell and i cant risk streaming and losing 5+ games in a row and trying to show viewers im kinda okay at the game while this keeps happening, because ill never get any viewers. i just want to play dazzle 10 games in a row without wondering if my carry will fail me! :D |
