XSplit in windowed fullscreen question

Hey there TL, I just recently downloaded XSplit to stream some SC2. I know that XSplit can't capture SC2 in fullscreen, so one must play in either windowed, or windowed fullscreen mode. I chose the latter, however when I enter windowed fullscreen, i notice a sort of "lag", kind of like an input delay. I still get a solid 60 fps (i play on high settings, i'll post my specs at the end) according to the in-game fps meter. The reason I'm posting is because I want to know if there's a way to counter this lag/delay, or if I just have to deal with it.

It's really annoying to have to play SC2 like that, as it makes the game feel a little jittery, and choppy at times. the fps stays the exact same though, so I'm a bit lost as to what is causing it.

I have pretty much the exact same XSplit settings as TheGunrun described in his thread:

except that my max bitrate and buffer are at 2500/2600 respectively (for now, I'm still testing those settings).

My connection :

Windows 7 64-bit
Intel i7 2600k OC'd @ 4.7 GHz
16GB G.Skill 1600
SLI'd GTX 260's
ASUS z68-v/gen3

I have the latest version of XSplit too, I DO NOT have any extra things like Dxtory or anything like that.

I might as well add that the instant I open up XSplit, everything on my computer seems a little sluggish/laggy. Like dragging a window around doesn't look smooth compared to when XSplit is closed.

TL:DR: Playing SC2 in windowed fullscreen doesn't feel as good as regular fullscreen, and I want to know if there's anything I can do with XSplit to change that.

I know there has to be SOMEONE who has gone through this, will disabling SLI help? I'd test it out, but I'm not at home.

Did you turn off vsync and enable the 'reduce input latency' options?

R1CH, I just tried that, however it didn't help =/.

I'm going to try disabling SLI and seeing if that makes any difference.

Okay so I just tried disabling SLI, however it made no impact whatsoever. I'm going to play around with XSplit's settings for awhile.

I have the same exact problem as you noah. I have really god net , but can't seem to stream without having little jitters that are frustrating to play with. The game starts out fine with high FPS , and stays high FPS as it goes on , but it starts to feel laggy. For example I would send out a probe to scout and i can see its animation moving with jitteryness.

Btw. where is the input latency setting?

Okay, I've made SOME progress. In the XSplit general settings window, I had unticked 'Let XSplit disable Aero theme'. I ticked that box and everything ran smoother. Still needs work though. I'm trying to get the XSplit to pick up my starcraft2 sounds.

Yeah I give up. The smoothness that I gained from ticking 'Let XSplit disable Aero theme' is gone. I don't know what's causing my game/pc to perform poorly like this.

After a week of toying around, updating drivers, trying various tips and tricks found in

http://www.gamereplays.org/community/Tips_and_tricks_on_optimising_your_XSplit_broadcast-t773948.html

I can't get the game to feel like it does in regular fullscreen.

I just had a thought, not sure if you've heard of this but you need to change the affinity of the programs... I don't imagine it will solve all you problems but it should help a fair bit...

In task manager under processes, right click starcraft and click 'set affinity'. depending on how many cores your cpu is, i'd recommend checking 2 cores. I have a quad core so with xsplit I check the other two cores under its affinity. So SC2 has cores 0 and 1 while xsplit has cores 2 and 3.

Thats kind of a 'trade secret', I've only seen one person on their stream do it, and the great Day9 has only mentioned it on a special video about streaming that isn't on his channel/archive. Anyways I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

Also, if you run SC2 in windowed mode and crop out the task bar and title bar, it helps a lot. Just a thought.
