Be sure to check out his stream during the event for live coverage!
Venue: The Oregon State University Gaming Club is hosting a LAN at West Dining Center on Saturday, March 3th, 2012 until Sunday, March 4th, 2012. During the LAN we will be hosting a Starcraft II tournament starting Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 at 1:00PM.
Sign ups/Start time: In order to play in the tournament you will need to sign up for both Let There Be Lan 3, and the Starcraft II Tournament.
Signups for the Starcraft II Tournament will end at 12:50PM on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012, and the tournament will start shortly after.
Entry Fee: Unfortunately there is a $15 entry fee to attendees of Let There Be Lan 3, however this will entail much more than entry. The 15 dollars covers free soda throughout the LAN, pizza that will be delivered at some point through the day/night, and Buy 1 Get 1 Free Chipotle. Other gaming tournaments include Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Age of Empires 2, and Worms. In addition there will be a Minecraft Building competition. You are welcome to enter as many events as you can within the time restrictions.
In order to facilitate a prize pool for the Starcraft II tournament, there will also be a $5 buy in for anyone in Masters League or higher. This $5 buy in will go 100% to the prize pool to be payed out immediately following the tournament. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond players may enter the Starcraft II Tournament for free.
Prizes: 1st place: 50% 2nd place: 30% 3rd place: 20%
Rules: Race is chosen before the tournament and you play the whole tournament with that race.
Format: The format of the tournament will be Best of 3 - Double Elimination
Settings and Map Pool: All Games 1. Category = Melee 2. Mode = 1v1 3. Game Speed = Faster
Maps: Ladder Pool
-Cloud Kingdom LE -Korhal Compound LE -Antiga Shipyard -Entombed Valley -Metalopolis -Shakuras Plateau -Tal'darim Altar LE -The Shattered Temple
Seeding: Will be based off of Ladder ranking at the time of the tournament. When you arrive at the LAN, please check in with Frogis and give him your race, ladder league, and points.
Map Selection:
WINNERS BRACKET: Each player is allowed 1 VETO per round. A default/starter map will be established for each round and used for the 1st Match in a set.
LOSERS BRACKET: Players will first state their VETOs, then take turns eliminating maps from the pool until there is only 1 left; lower seeded player gets first pick. Loser of the 1st game picks the next map from the available Map Pool.
Late to tournament/Delaying tournament: Double elimination tournaments are notoriously long, so a couple rules will be in place to assure there aren't huge delays.
1) Signups END at 12:50PM; Must have your character code, league, and points given to Frogis by this point.
2) Games should be played as soon as they are available -15 minutes late to a bo3 will result in loss of Game 1. -30 minutes late to a bo3 will result in loss of SET.
3) Taking short breaks after matches is completely fine, but if there are large delays in the losers bracket from people taking 30+ minute breaks in between sets, the results will be disqualification for both players.
Any sign of cheating or smurfing may result in a Forfeit of the Game or disqualification from the Event.
No Map may be played more than once in the same Set.
HEADPHONES ONLY. No speakers.

How many people usually sign up for this? I've been wanting to participate in a LAN in Oregon only problem is OSU is about 1.5-2hours away depending on what time I leave. I don't want to show up if it is only like a 20 man tournament.

I can't assure any numbers for this tournament, but I can let you know what we've had in the past. For the last 2 tournaments we've had 16 and 19 people respectively, however this LAN is going to be larger than the previous two. For "Let There Be LAN 2" we had about 30 people, and for Civil War LAN last year we had 59. I'm hoping this tournament will have between 20-30.
Would be great to have you come and enter

20 people is a good number for LAN.
Nice, I wish I went to OSU :\

Sounds like fun...but there's also a rave in Seattle I want to go to on the third. I'm in Portland so both are like a 2-3 hour drive. Decisions. >_<
Any idea when the actual fee for the whole LAN is gonna be announced? Or at least a vague idea of what price range it's gonna be? Also is this a BYOC event or are there gonna be computers?

I believe the LAN fee will be under 10 dollars or at least somewhere in that range or lower.
edit: Lan Fee is $15 T.T

If only I still lived in Oregon O.O
Oh well

I live in Gresham, and am pretty interested in this tourney. I'm assuming we're all bringing our own PC's for this, right?
|
Sorry to butt in, but if any of you want to play on the Oregon NSL team send me a PM, looking for more players!

Does bring your own computer include the monitor?

Well I think I will come then. Any idea on how the distribution of lower league players to master usually play out? Also when you say seeding is based on rank, could you perhaps be a bit more specific? A a master league player, am I going to be seeded against other master players at the start, or I itgonna be against lower league players?

Dear Frogis,
Thank you so much for providing this opportunity for the gamer community! Quick question, do you have any casters lined up yet to maybe broadcast the event for the people involved or online? Or has this question come to mind yet? If possible I would like to volunteer my time for casting or helping in anyway for this upcoming event in March.
Thank you for your time

So for example if there are 32 players in the tournament, in the first match it would be Seed 1 vs. Seed 32, and Seed 2 vs. Seed 31 etc etc...
The player with the most points will play the opponent with the least amount of points, (so first match will likely by Masters vs. Bronze or Diamond vs. Silver) in order to delegate the lower league players to equal level matches in the beginning of the losers bracket. The masters league players will begin to meet each other in later rounds, where the losers will be feed into a later portion of the losers bracket.

Hey Venddeta, we have a caster who has been working on our events, however I am certain he would not object to having a co-caster/alternating casting. I will send you an email and get you two in contact with each other.

It doesn't take 2-3 hours to get from Portland to Corvallis. 1.5 hours is the average, 2 at most unless there is some horrendous traffic.
Hope you all decide to go though! =)
