Apparently some people are dumb enough to STILL be asking for it, so let's make things clear:

Do NOT ask for re-streams, and do NOT post re-streams.

Do not come here and muddle the thread by bitching about PPV.

Mvp and NesTea will probably fall off though or they might just become those Ro16 guys.

NesTea is quite old for progaming and Mvp has wrist issues, so it's kinda unfair.

Flash had wrist issues, and he's 13-0 this season so far. Just saiyan! Also, 29 isn't that old for pro gaming. He can probably continue being a professional gamer in some regard for the next 10 years, whether it be moving on to a MOBA game, or being a low Code-S/Code-A player.

It's really amazing how much people are posting here with no idea about how SC2 works.

1st: 12/14 rax vs Zerg: This is very economical opening, cause it forces the zerg to a lot of zerglings and at least one spine early on. therefore terran sacrifices some eco of his own, but it is worth it, if you have a good marine/scv control (and MKP has definately the best in the world, so this is a good opening for him per definiton!), you can expand easily behind that, since you still have a very good income due to constant scv production.

2nd: the fast 3rd in game 6: Did you ever think about what would've happened if DRG scouted the 3rd and made f.e. a roach attack on it early on? MKP did not slide a single scv to this base until he secured the entrance with a lot of siege tanks and marines. the timing of this base was so fast, that it would've been finished, when the roaches arrive there. And then he simply flies back to his natural or main and is fine, cause zerg sacrificed a lot of eco for an attack which didn't do anything because MKP was well defended with a bunker and already a tank out and siege mode nearly done.

MKP didn't play his absolute best, but was near to it, due to nerves as he mentioned. You should not forget that he had the Shakuras game in the bag, if he didn't make that huge blunder, overcomitting into DRG's natural, which made absolutely no sense and was a big sign, that he was nervous and wanted the game to end right there. To come back from such a disappointing lose shows a strong spirit and high skill. He mixed up very agressive styles, several builds and good economic openers. he controlled the final battle very well. DRG took a huge risk, teching this fast to hive and got punished for that.

Overall it was a good tournament, a good production, BUT yes: Where was the fucking winners ceremony. It would've been nice to see the Top 8 alltogether again. I think we have a great Top8 with nice players, that can be happy about really good performances, like violet or Huk (who made his personal little comeback, after doing not so well lately).

And yes. I didn't like Tastosis trashing on MKP even when he won. But they just don't like him, it's allways the same, if you watch the gsl, you know that. They never say a positive word about him, that really fits, only such general phrases like "he is solid, blabla", but are so critical about him (like this 500gas issue: HE wanted to go for dual upgrades, a siege tank and siegemode: these are 425 gas in total!!! And you complain about him having 500 gas? STUPID?). This is the only point I hate about Tastosis. These two are so biased. When Nestea or MVP play, everything they do is gloryfied to be genius, even it's totally common or simple. But MKP, he must've messed up with them. I actual don't know why, maybe they think his playstyle is gimmicky, or they blame him for his stupid decision making, which he showed for a period of time, or they just don't like his character. I DON'T KNOW, BUT PLEASE, don't let this affect your casting this much.

And finally, the best player in the world discussion: Can any1 say, that there is acutally a best player in the world right now? This is just not possible, because these very top guys are playing so much games between them in a short period of time, and taking games off each other day by day. Even naming a top10 could be hard right now, because there are so many good players out there. I think the top16 of the current GSL season makes a good top16 of the world with very little exceptions. But anything behind this, like a top 5 or so in any form, will be so questionable, that it doesn't make sense to discuss about it.

There are two types of great players. One type of them like to play save and macro games and make decisions base on their scouting. Examples are MVP, NESTEA and DRG. Artosis loves these types of players and he hypes them like they are bonjas. The other type of players like to apply constant agression and they are confident about their micro and love to take advantage of early aggression and if they can not win they will play a macro game from there. They are brave and not afraid of taking risk because they trust their skill. Examples are Mc, MKP, SC and alive. Artosis knows they are great but he does not like their play style very much. And Tasteless actually loves the second type of players a lot, but somehow he just agrees everything Artosis says.

Personally, I love the second type of players more. I love that everyone knows 2 rax against DRG should never work, but it works when MKP is on top of his game. I love DRG just destroys every single toss, but Mc is able to force him to gg at about 12 mins in the game. Sup, in thoery that would not work, but it can work because of their micro.

YES YES YES. Thanks for wording nicely the thoughts that my 3rd-language English cant express. The "500 gas" bit by Artosis was completely wrong. The whole game was poorly read, from that opening to the end, where both players knew full well it was over but the casters had no idea what was going on. I dont even blame Tasteless anymore at this point, he seems to follow anything Artosis starts, players bias included.

Quoted for truth. Tastosis bias is starting to get freaking annoying. but they dont care and they wont read this so it doesnt matter. and this goes for MMA too

MMA wins blizzard cup: "DRG should have won 6-7 of those games"
MMA wins GSL: MVP was tired
MMA rolls through ro 32 and 16: eh
Alive beats MMA while MMA is sick: BEST PLAYER OMG SO HOT BEST TVT OGMGMGMGMGM

fuck im so pisssed off about that
whatever, #rage

Yeah, only giving credit MMA has a lot of heart... Pissed me off as well, since he's saying it everywhere, on SoTG, on GSL, on his stream~~ Even when MMA beat Oz. I really like Artosis, but I can't stand his biased opinions.

He just hates MMA's style. He is all about passive macro play (MECH!) and suffocating your opponent (Artosis never attacks if you watch him play on his stream) and MMA can basically beat everyone by taxing their multitasking once he gets ahead (which is why he cheeses or plays super greedy like every game). Artosis I believe thinks that if players in SC2 were any good as the ones in Brood War that style would never win but because most players in SC2 suck MMA and MKP can just destroy people with their Micro and Multitasking.

Now he has called MMA, Boxer with Mechanics (huge compliment) and compared him to Jaedong multiple times and when asked about if Brood War players switched over who would still remain and he included MMA with MVP, Nestea, MC, Dongraegu. He knows MMA and MKP are really good. He just doesn't think they play the game optimally. Until the players catch up to their skill level what they are doing will still work and I'm sure they will adapt since both are great players.

I don't know how spot on you are with your assessment, but when you are a caster (or rather part of THE casters), it's very unprofessional to half-heartedly congratulate the winner.

Moreover, that is a very stupid belief. Micro and multitasking has won many games in BW. For example Bisu vs Savior was pretty much the epitome of Bisu's multitasking and incisiveness that flattened the king of management-style zerg Savior.

I don't even think Jaedong can be compared to MMA though...JD is just very deadly and rather aggressive. I think his magic lies in the ability to make engagements go in his favour, and of course his once impeccable muta micro.

Generally though I prefer to lay off the direct comparisons. But having multitasking is very essential to both games. Going into long macro games, not so much, even in BW. I think TBLS have been unusually aggressive this year, especially Flash. The only true "macro or die" player is Best, and he still gets owned by a bunker rush.

So stop putting a player down in either game if he doesn't go into those long macro games, especially if he still wins.

This makes me wonder what will Artosis say if Flash switch to SC2 and 4-0 DRG in a final with 4 bunker rush games. hahaha....

It was fantastic to see MKP finaly get the win though.

The event as a whole was incredibly entertaining. I loved the feel of it, especially with the main and side-caster back and forth after games and the design of the arena page tops everything I've seen in the past. There are obviously areas of improvement to focus on and to me the specific issue is that of how MLG operates with downtime. I'd liked to see more interviews (for casters and players), more community interaction, and generally more "stuff" to fill the moments where games aren't going on and more than just people playing games to entice viewers on the free streams.

Watching these guys play is obviously a ton of fun, but when you're watching it with just game sounds and no casting, your essentially getting the bare bones of what you would get on any other player stream. I bought the pass before the event even started, but I was keeping an eye on that throughout and I think there are better ways that you can throw potential buyers a hook in. Or at least give them and the paying viewers some kind of auxiliary content to enjoy.

Lastly, I just want to say that the casting for this event was top notch especially with the way that they handled it. Bringing players in when it was pertinent, varying up the casting duos, etc. In particular, I really feel Tumba is starting to fully come into his own as a caster after this event, he didn't seem nervous at all and was entertaining and and well-spoken for the duration. I loved his casts with Grubby in particular and it was really nice to see him playing off of Grubby's obvious wealth of information so perfectly. He asked all the right questions and chimed in at perfect times.

Look forward to more MLG, I really enjoyed the weekend.

No, not really. 5/6 Games were some sort of Bunker Rush/Contain... No doubt that MKP is a good player but the finals were just not satisfying. At least in my opinion..

Yea, final wasn't great. But only reason for that was score between players DRG 11-1 MKP so MKP try every game bunker rush with 2 rax (only 1 game he go 15 exp first). The last game was preety decent, i think DRG could take it. 5 base vs 3 base, but DRG dont have upgrades and good army composition, he go big macro. MKP show cool build, bcuz he has 500 gas at 5 min game, he went double upgrades and tank siege mode. He make timing attack when have 2-2 bio + few tanks.|

Edit: I think that not listed on TL Calendar this event make huge difference.

Just to be sure, only one of them was a cheese, the other bunker rushes were just pressure with a 12/14 rax.

That one game where mkp "cheesed", on metalopolis, was more in my opinion a calculated risk. MKP's 2 rax was scouted by DRG and MKP had 2 rax pressured DRG in previous games with moderate success. DRG probably thought he could just hold with a spine and drones at his expo if it was just pressure. MKP knew DRG saw the two rax and thats when he pulled his scv's and went "bitbybit" all in at that point expecting DRG to be not ready for it (which he wasn't). In my opinion that was a good calculated risk on MKP's part and it worked out. After that game DRG just wasn't the same, you can see it on his expression and play in the next game.

Good observation.

I think that game alone killed DRG momentum. He felt like he was tricked by a little kid and maybe that got to him.

This event was really entertaining. It was of course not worth 20$ but you can see that there was a good production value.
I found the matches less entertaining than during the other big events but that's only my opinion and mlg can't do much about it.

i hate MKP for his cheesy play right now. I dont mind if a Player cheeses once or twice in a Bo7, but 5 times in 6 games is just too much for me, i cant enjoy sc2 with that kind of play

How did he cheese at all?

yeah, 2rax bunker rushing is solid macro play!

Zergs 6pooled into macro play all weekend against Protoss. The 2rax with bunkers is a much, much tamer version of that. God these threads are depressing. Everybody just wants to get some bitching out in the form of pretending to comment on a tournament.

I thought it was awesome, congrats to MKP, DRG, and everyone else who performed.

yeah, they do it once a series. as i said, i dont mind a player cheesing occasionally...

Same here bro. I find macro games just boring most of the time if not constant engagements the whole time. Guess us younger folks with short attention span just can't appreciate what artosis can. I dont really like watching idra, MVP or nestea play at all. My favorite player has shortest match history in GSL but what's wierd is he's even better when going the distance and artosis never comments on his perfect execution cause he's already prebiased. Good examples were back in NASL when he beat sen and puma in those macro games with deadly tech switches, 5 bases, staying under 200 minerals, shut down drop harrass and so on.
