The American Colonies, 1775. It's a time of civil unrest and political upheaval in the Americas. As a Native American assassin fights to protect his land and his people, he will ignite the flames of a young nation's revolution. Assassin's Creed® III takes you back to the American Revolutionary War, but not the one you've read about in history books.

- As a Native American assassin, eliminate your enemies with guns, bows, tomahawks, and more!
- Join the Continental Army in a war for our freedom. With your comrades at your side, hunt down the British redcoats through chaotic city streets, and engage in full-scale military assaults in the wilderness. Experience the real war that shaped our nation.
- Experience the truth behind the most gruesome war in history: the American Revolution.
- Introducing the Anvil Next game engine, the stunning new technology that will revolutionize gaming with powerful graphics, lifelike animations, immersive combat, and advanced physics.

Game Informer April Edition

+ Show Spoiler +

Facts

- Game has been in development for three years. Possibly after the completion of Assassin's Creed II.

- A completely new ancestor of Desmond Miles.

- The name of the game’s new protagonist will be Connor (as he calls himself), although his birth name is Ratohnhake:ton. He is half English, half Native American, and is described as more of a hunter/ predatory Assassin than the likes of Ezio or Altair. He is described as a freedom fighter who acts in the name of justice rather than acting based on personal revenge. The American Revolution setting means that the supporting cast includes the likes of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Charles Lee. Connor’s interaction with Washington is one of the core relationships in the game.

Assassin’s Creed III will be set between 1753 and 1783, in and around the cities of Boston and New York. Locations like Bunker Hill, Valley Forge and Saratoga are mentioned. New York especially ties in with Desmond’s location at the conclusion of Revelations. There will be puzzles similar to The Truth, only they will not be given by Subject 16 this time around. In addition, the economic system of the game has been reformed.

- The protagonist will fight on the American side, with primary allies George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Charles Lee. However, this does not mean that the Americans are the good guys and the British are the bad guys. Templars are everywhere…

- There will be seasons in the game, meaning that the sun will shine during summer and the landscape will be covered in snow during winter.

- Fighting and stealth will be completely re-innovated, with Connor being compared to a “predator”. The player will be able to climb trees and other natural elements, and dual-wielding weapons such as a dagger and a mohawk is now also an option.

- Animals will be present in the woods, like deer and bears. The player will be able to kill them and pelt their skins, to sell them later with the reformed economic system of the game.

- There will be puzzles similar to The Truth, only they will not be given by Subject 16.

- Desmond will go into the new Animus 3.0 and will find himself going into “significant events”.

- 100% sync in memories returns, though this time you will be rewarded when you complete memories to 100%.

- Checkpoints will also be introduced to mission replay, meaning you don’t have to replay an entire mission to get that 100% sync.

- The Brotherhood, or Assassins Guild, will return in some form, albeit differently than we have seen before.

- There will be no more Mercenaries, Thieves, Courtesans, Romani or other factions, but there will be a replacement for them.

- Den Defense will not return.

- Release date slated for October 30th, 2012

- Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Revelations are considered spin off games, BUT is canon for the universe. Ubisoft only numbers an Assassin's Creed game when there is a new ancestor AND time period.

I don't think so. There was strong hints towards this considering what Shaun Hastings said at the end of Brotherhood. I think Ubisoft did a nice job giving hints to multiple time periods. In Brotherhood, there were hints towards the American and French Revolution. In Revelations and Embers (animated movie), there were hints pointing towards Egypt and China.

Looks pretty cool, but the American flag in those two concept shots is laughably cheesy.

American revolution.... not bad.

Oh and we're going to see 'spin off' games from this new character as well right? That also probably means AC3 won't conclude everything and wrap it up well. Why would they since the AC games make Ubisoft a ton of money. I might as well just wait until everything comes out before playing it.

Absolutely love the creed series! Can't wait for this one. Sad to see the end of altair and ezio, but revelations did a good job of wrapping their storylines up.

i havent played the last two AC games, simple because i lost interest in the serious and that when i played ACII it took me 16hours to complete,i still enjoyed it very much but thinking back it def was not worth 50euro.Maybe if they make the game with 400+ hours of gameplay such as skyrim/fallout i would consider buying it.If its another spin-off serious then i will save my money and wait until D3.

I was kind of disappointed in Revelations although I absolutely love the storyline/lore of the series in general. Regardless, I'm quite excited - glad they went with one of the revolutions.

We don't know that for sure. The lead members of the development team said time and time again that Desmond's story is a trilogy and that Assassin's Creed III will end it. They did say that they're considering rebooting and restarting the cycle after the third game.

I hope it doesnt turn out as bad as revelations, 2nd worst assassins creed game. No side missions at all, nothing to do but the main story, also they need to make the game harder, cuz if it as easy as it is now, I will not use half of the machenics in the game. I never used bombs. Also it was smaller the brootherhood, overall very dissapoint, but still fan,
hope this game doesnt turn out like that.

Also the last armor piece needs to look less terrible.

I don't think the American Revolution was quite as... vertical as Jerusalem and Italy? I wonder how much climbing and those sorts of mechanics are going to figure into it.

What was that about?
Is Revelations worth buying? I suddenly feel like it's not worth the money. o_O

I can't say I like the choice of the American Revolution all that much at first thought... Wonder how they are going to find shit for us to climb on x) Also, I guess the introduction of more guns was inevitable, but I still don't like it :/ That's pretty much why I loved the first one, and liked the successors less and less(except AC2, that shit was awesome). Then it was all about the hidden blade, and how you were going to get close enough for the kill, while now you can just toss a bomb on the wall, so it bounces onto a target, or straight up shoot him in the face with a gun. It's been a while since I played Revelations, but was there ever a big target that you could sneak up on, and just kill, without there being a scene where Ezio walked up and they talk, before you *assassinate* him in 1v1 sword combat?

tldr: I want to get back to the time where you needed at least some sort of cunning or finesse, and where you could actually play Assassin without tossing bombs at peoples face or get forced to fight him straight up

EDIT to poster above: Brotherhood and Revelations are smaller side branches that contains story elemements. Revelations was kind of a let down, but upon learning that they are kind of just there to keep the Assassins Creed series known until they bring out AC3 I can live with it(Then they better make AC3 hell of a game)

But to answer your question : If you like the story, and you don't mind playing through Brotherhood, just with another story then go for it! I don't regret buying it at least

The building architecture during the American Revolution wasn't that bad.

The only thing that will be missing is the lack of landmarks.

Read the op... It IS apart of the main story and is canon to the universe. The idea if Revelations is worth the money depends on what you are looking for. If you are a fan of the series, then go for it. The game is currently 50% off ($25) on Steam, but the price might drop in the coming months.

Was hoping for Victorian London or French revolution :/ No offense to the US but their history is kinda lackluster compared to GB and France because it's a young country. And history is a big part of why I play these games. Will still buy it, the story is awesome

Did they ever fix stealthing in this game? I played the beginning of two and couldn't do it. I liked #1's (pretend you're a monk thing), but in #2; it's more (let's just walk with these groups of people)
