You basically spell farm the lane, then let your creeps tank the tower and dps, surround (if youre lucky)their hero. And it makes it easier/ more possible to kill them. You can also get unlucky in some cases where the tower focuses you |

| Imo this "mechanic" is the single thing that really separes a bad/new dota player to an good/average one. |

| i dont mean to be negative but this isnt really a trick. This is just game play. If the creeps are dead then you can stun the enemy and let them take some free creep damage. |

| It's good but personally I would have waited til the range creep (with no more melee creeps) has a few pixels left of health. The opposing player would either have to deny it or run back to tower hug. At this point you let loose your arrow, range creep should die (by either your creeps or by deny), allow the arrow to pass and possibly hit the enemy hero for more stun. Run up, Starfall, left-click then Leap if still not enough. Last edit: 2012-03-14 09:16:04 |

I guess it's a good thing to keep in mind for new players.
What is more important is the opposite. Being aware that, in situations where creeps are guarding you, you are only safe as long as they cannot suddenly die. Paying attention to the opponents behavious with creeps is also important, although people can act somewhat random in public games ^^ In general, learning when to back off on a lane is important, e.g. not staying to deny the caster creep if you are far up the lane. |

| This would be much more of a "trick" if you fired the arrow or hook (as Pudge) when the creep is about to get last hit by your attack, creating a window. As is, the guy just kind of stood there for no reason. I would argue that neither is really a trick, but at least good timing makes for a tougher dodge and a more exciting video. |

wow people are waaay too literal around here.
That was cool, kinda seen it many times but still cool.
Why argue over the semantics of trick? The point is that its a useful bit of info that is fairly well presented. Organise a lot of little bits like this any you end up with a substantial guide. It was described as being basic so why criticise it for being basic?
There isn't much being posted in the way of strategy/mechanics which sucks imo. Eg timings for pulling various creep camps (apart from the trivial top and bot ones)

this a million times. once you start thinking about how your opponent can leverage against you and how you can counteract or alleviate that your play improves tenfolds |

Uhm, not a whole lot. Have been busy with studies, so im just playing dota1 (PDC)/dota2 pubs with some friends. Jumped off the 'pro' team wagon with Balsam and Calculus's current team before it started.
Mostly dota1 pubs as one of my friends prefer that X_X, trying to get him to his senses :D |
