My friends and I haven't played WoW in almost a year now. I played it for a couple of months last summer, but didn't have the time commitment to really continue past level 65. I also never had the heart to pay for Cata because back then it was still 50 bucks. But I recently found out about Blizzard's Resurrection Scroll referal service, and had a few questions about it.
1. If everything I've read is true, ANYONE in game can just email me a "scroll of resurrection" and not only will I get a free upgrade to Cata but they'll get a free mount as well. So for anyone who wants to start plying WoW again, it's a win-win situation, right?
2. If so, can someone in the TL community do me a favor and send me a referral? You get a free mount  P.
Lastly, I'm looking more to play WoW a bit more on the casual side. Sure, I know I'll get addicted, and probably more so than I imagine, but is it possible to have fun in WoW without having to do extremely long raids? I know that raiding is part of the game, but I seriously only have time to play the game maybe 10 hours a week. Is that enough to truly enjoy an MMO/worth the money I spend? I now have a job so money isn't an issue, but I still don't want to be wasting it.

I stopped playing a few months ago, sometimes I buy 1 month of gametime and play 3-4 days, im getting tired of the game mostly because theres nothing new to do and playing w/o friends was pretty boring, i was an addict playing 24/7 before but not anymore

As someone who leveled the hard way, back in vanilla/TBC. I can't help but cringe that they give people a free lvl 80. I mean they made leveling easy enough as it is. Give them the RAF experience boost or something not a free ride.
Anyway, my account isn't active atm so I don't think I can send one, was considering activating my GFs account for a month or two to do this though, cause she would prolly like the mount. Last edit: 2012-03-13 09:00:40 |

Same with the yearly pass thing for Diablo 3. Assuming you were going to buy D3 anyway, it's 40-60 euros (cant remember exactly) for a year subscription + beta access. Essentially less than 30 euros off a normal 'yearly' sub + you cant 'cancel' your preorder of D3 either.
Have to hand it to Blizzard though, proper marketing. I'll probably give the game another go during the next expansion. |

| This may just accelerate the decay of the game - much of the new, good Cataclysm content was for lower levels and now people are going to skip it - it also sends the message that skipping a huge portion of the game's content is a "reward," implying that it is bad. |

I don't think it will. It's a limited time offer (it costs them short term profit and may not actually end up stemming the losses from their user base). It's probably designed to lure back old players who've levelled before, aren't really entralled by that process, but would consider playing a new class in the end game. I'd wager a lot of their existing userbase didn't even bother exploring the new levelling in cataclysm anyway; they already had their max level characters and just wanted new end game content.
