That is because it is true, LoL is a joke compared to SC2. And 2 times more of a joke compared to BW. In terms of skill ceiling that is.

And I don't know who in their right mind would say that SC2 is not easier than BW. It's way easier, but still way way harder than LoL or DotA.

I must have missed that objective measurement that was figured out to discern a qualitative ranking of difficulty between games of different genres. I'm a very curious person so I would love for you to link me to some information on the matter. Wouldn't want to be one of those people not in their right mind.

The both games are both so different. One is team based and one is solo. One is RTS and other are... dota-like game(???).

In any case I find playing LoL way too casual, I don't find the pro-factor in this game even satisfying or watching it is so boring. Everygame seems to be the same. Early game, no way you can rush like in SC2 and win the game in few minutes, is just people bashing and harrassing eachother in lines and with better combination you will win your line. One has to be in jungle, one in the middle, one for ex. top lane and 2 in down lane.

It makes me very sad to hear this kind of shit taking over the esport scene.

What's positive in LoL? Bushes I guess.. makes somewhat tactical possibilities possible, but where are the creep denying like in HoN/LoL? It makes people's game even harder if you know what you are doing.

EDIT:
Didn't think of it earlier, and which will give more props to Riot is that they are promoting the game like shit. Blizzard hasn't done anything since the release of WoL and it has been losing player counts rapidly after last summer. I don't need to blame LoL being shit, I guess I can blame Blizzard for not listening enough the community and focus other products more.

Blizzard was more worried about fees than about getting a huge playerbase a la BW.

And people who hate on LoL for being too casual, remember to not be a hypocrite.

^This pretty much. SC2 has not lived up to its expectations in korea. And the additions of the expansion sets are not going to really shake things up. Theres a business side to it; blizzard is trying to make money at the same time it is trying to "balance" SC2 as an esport. Those things don't mix.

Also: someone talked about esports now being in the Age of Casual. I think this is really true. Nobody seems to be willing to play a difficult game that requires serious and long-term dedication in order to become a top-class player.

Lol I am fairly certain that hockey ratings recently have started to overshadow basketball in the American market, so quite the opposite actually. BW has been dwindling guys (Team 8 lol), it is time to accept the new wave

I'm pretty sure regular season basketball gets better ratings than Stanley Cup finals games

Will they be hosting these LoL VODs on youtube similar to the BW Proleague/OSL?
LoL is still pretty young as a game, its depth and complexity will more apparent as more progamers play it seriously. This is actually one game that I think Western progamers have an edge over Korean progamers, for now at least.

People need to stop complaining about it's skill level requirement, its just as stupid as comparing tennis/golf to football/basketball. Good teamwork and strategy between great players is enjoyable to watch.
This goes to show how successful a well-made F2P can be, and China will be LoL's next big step.

I'm a featured LoL streamer on here and I've been doing my best to explain the game to the average SC2'er and I've gotten some praise.

Sigh, so many hipster nerds mad because sc2 isn't the second coming of esports....LoL is a great game, it's insanely popular, and it's the only game right now that has a chance of having worldwide success far past any other game ever made competitively . It’s vomit inducing how many fake esports fans we have here on TL. It seems most are only sc or sc2 esports fans, all other games be dammed.

What the fuck is "fake esports fans"? I watch BW, some sc2 and some high level DotA from time to time. Do I have to like every game or "ESPORT" because I watch those 3 games and play one of them? People watch and support what they like. Just because I only watch and support football and hockey when it comes to real sports i'm not a fan of sports? k
I like hockey.

I just.... dont.... get it. LoL is so lame, I really think that it has so much popularity simply because its free to play (or at least start). Makes me sad

lol no, BW audience base hasn't gotten any smaller, it's just that more people are watching games (esports ftw) right now, so while bw isn't "dying", it just seems like it is because they make up a smaller proportion due to a bigger esports audience (tekken, super street fighter, sudden attack, LoL, etc etc)

This decision simply makes me sick. Even though I see the reason why OGN wants to stream LoL (a lot of viewers -> high income) but how the mechanics of that game work just make the game too simple to be played at a high competitive level. The amount of time you have to invest into that game to become a pro is merely a few hours a day for a month or two.

I'd rather watch a game that requires a lot of time from the professional players just for the sole reason that the games that have more complex mechanics open countless new possibilities to impress their fans by doing something that might seem small but it still has an enormous impact on the outcome of the game. Why make a casual game into a competitive one when the game simply lacks the balance for the competitive level and also rewards for investing money into the game?

Yea, too many hypocrites in the SC2 community.

We could copy-paste their defensive posts from the BW vs SC2 threads and reply to their LoL-bashing-posts in this thread...

SC2 is dying in Korea, and there is no one else to blame but itself, deal with it.

Besides, if anything this is good for Korean SC2. Tourney organizers can take some of the money they earn from lol and put that into SC2 if they want.

its funny how riot is pushing his game so hard, they try to get as much market share as possible to make the moba scene stuck into LoL before dota 2 is released. I think they are afraid.

LoL is no good as a competitive game.

prize money will draw players, and for a while it will draw viewers. in the end, LoL is very unexciting to watch at a high level and the game is very shallow in terms of strategies, how similar characters are to one another and how few items are ever worth getting. it is, very simply, like someone made DotA for small children in the way that farmville is like harvest moon for small children.

I dont particularly like starcraft 2. despite my enthusiasm for the game engine, I think acti-blizzard did about everything wrong that they could and it shows. but seeing LoL succeed means seeing a game explicitly balanced around terribles is succeeding, and that really does make me sad.

5. intuitive mechanics; things like AP/spell damage scaling, brush/vision, objectives/buffs, "free" recalling, lack of deny mechanic are all things that are very intuitive to put into MOBA game that focuses on "fun" rather than "l33t" after a few years experience of DotA; these are the issues that fix the game for new players and cause DotA diehards to complain of "lack of depth" due to lack of buggy vision mechanics, and the possibility of efficient recalling and spell-based champions actually being useful lategame

How did Riot manage to brainwash you all that denying is a bad mechanic is beyond me.
LoL however cute it is, it's downgraded from dota, it's not evolving the genre. They just removed some of the most hard features like denying and tree juking to make it more casual.

Just take a look at the dota2 subforum and then at the lol one. See how many are jumping ship from lol to dota and the opposite. The ratio is hugely in favor of dota2.
That's because when all these players whos only arts experience is lol, play dota for the first time, they find the promised land. They find a game complex and rewarding.
And when lols lead hero designer(forgot his name) thinks that all heroes should be based with the thought that lols players are stupid(his words) then I rest my case.
