I found the entire romance plot awkward and hard to watch. Very forced and only rescued by Bo Lin being legitimately charming and funny in a Sokka-like manner -- but that just shows me he should be more relevant in serious episodes to relieve tension moreso than he has been.
Still got high hopes for the series but this was clearly the worst episode thusfar, for me. |

I'm honestly trying to figure out if people here actually watched TLA. Everything that people are complaining about was prevalent throughout the entire first series.
Does no one remember the fortune teller episode? The cave? The beach?
Not to mention the criticisms about cheesy humour, wacky characters, villains not being "cool", not enough "avatar" stuff...honestly, if that stuff bothered you so much, you shouldn't have even cared that there was a Season 2 of TLA, let alone a sequel. |

Lol this is true. TLA had the very same aspects woven in to most every episode. Though the difference is the quantity, this episode had so much romance in it.
Also there is the fact that everyone knows this series is only 26 episodes long. For some people that doesn't feel long enough to really develop a good story, they may feel like any filler or secondary story episodes are a waste of time.
It was always known that TLA would be a longer series, though because of that people may have found the filler episodes more palatable. |

| The fillers episodes were generally worse in TLA anyway. No reason to complain. Plus, Korra/Bolin/Mako are infinitely cooler than Aang/Katara/Sokka making it much more bearable. |

We've gotten older. While we can recall Sokka's antics fondly, we don't have as much patience these days for Bo Lin's silliness. We want the plot to move forward.
And by we, I mean all you haters.
I do feel some frustration at the "plot not moving forward", but it happening once every now and then (1/5, m=so monthly) is perfectly fine. |

| 26 episodes is enough time to make a good story even if you have some fillerish episodes. I think the episode was fine. Bo Lin being himself made it enjoyable and you guys have to see it this way, now that we got all the love stuff out of the way the series can move forward and concentrate on more important issues. I am sure the love triangle with Mako, Asami and Korra will play a role in future episodes. But for now it should not be as much. Last edit: 2012-05-06 17:37:02 |

I think the episode reminded me a lot of hentai. Basically where the roles of male and female are reversed to fulfill perverted male fantasies.
In hentai, the guys always act shy as fuck and the girl is the rapist/sexual aggressor. The guys always act like they don't want it, and that they are reluctant about the girls fiddling with their penises. In real life, a guy who acts like that sort of pussy is never going to get the girls - if anything, it makes the girls lose attraction. But the writers of hentai know this, they know that the people purchasing the hentai are probably sexually frustrated 20+ year old men who never got the girls in high school and think it's unfair that because they weren't confident like the jocks that the girls never noticed them or showed them any sort of sexual interest. So they live their lives vicariously through hentai.
Likewise, in the last episode Korra tells the guy she likes him. Korra makes the move to kiss him. This doesn't happen in real life. In real life, if the guy doesn't express his feelings or make the move, the girl will think he's a fucking loser who doesn't have any balls. So the creators of Korra obviously made it like this so that all the teenage boys watching it will be like: "Fuck yeah, this is the life." Little do they know that they're going to become 20 year old virgins in the future because they spent their time watching anime and playing computer games instead of sport. |

| There were no fillers in TLA lol. If you think there were then you didn't really like the series. Just like there are no fillers in Naruto if you like the series. Fillers don't excist in a good show |

I don't think we have the same definition of a filler episode. Tales of Ba Sing Se, for instance, would fit into my definition of a filler episode. It didn't contain anything particularly permanent or critical to the plot (sure character development is important, but not essential) and definitely didn't 'need' to be made, although I'm very glad it did. It's one of my favourite episodes.
A filler episode doesn't mean that the episode is immediately pointless and bad (let alone the show) it just means it's an episode that deals with an idea not essential to the main plot. |

Haha. This made my day.
Seriously tho, I think you've watched a bit too much hentai. You probably haven't met many women in real life either.

No see, that's the thing that puts me off from watching hentai and other Asian porn, and what made me dislike the latest episode. It's why I don't like shows like Dawson's Creek - too much male crying/Katie Holmes testostrone for my liking. |

Lol. Well this kind of character relationship/role is pretty common in all anime generally anyways. If it's a shounen there's usually that kind of stuff in it. Same with shoujo except the genders are reversed. |

I like how Avatar series don't have to fully focus on plot, they do good job of character development.
One of greatest things about TLA was filler episodes, like Tales of Ba Sing Se. Masterpiece. |

I wouldn't even offer $1.01 odds on that happening, that's how likely it would be.
I was sort of hoping the Pro Bending tournaments would have more interesting characters pop up. I guess I was hoping for a league format, but perhaps the tournament is like an introduction and it grants them entry to some sort of league? I don't know, I just wonder what Pro Bending there is to have after the first tournament? I guess they could take a boxing route and have 'ranks' and 'world champions'. That would be pretty sweet actually.
Regarding the romance: yeaaaah was pretty forced. No real slow build up between Mako and Korra either, it all happened really quickly. To be honest, I'm hoping Bolin gets the girl. His constant attempts, though comical, are endearing to me and I think a lot of the viewers. He's sort of written off because he's got that Sokka humour, but I like his chances. The writers totally might go that route.
Though Mako gets the irl fangirls as the responsible one with the more narrow cheeks, so I expect the writers will keep throwing Korra at him.
And was anyone interested by the Tenzin's past love story? Makes me wonder. Expect shipping of Toph's daughter and Aang's son within the day. |

| I think one aspect of the TLA was that most people watched it after it was already done, so just blasting through an episode with lots of romance was nothing. But now having to wait a week for a new one is pretty brutal. |
