You do see him glide in on one before he tries to get Korra to stop heading to the island for the midnight showdown with Korra. Perhaps he only keeps it with him when he intends to fly. These are people in their native city, not adventurers scouring the world. There's no need to keep all their things with them all the time.

To be really fair, Toph really was considered the best Earthbender on the planet by a longshot. Way better than Aang. If not for her blindness she would have been far more powerful than Ozai ever was. The fact that she overshadows some random police officer, and her daughter who while may have had the training from the best may but still not the simple raw skill, is no surprise whatsoever.
Toph was the best Earthbender on the planet, Katara was most likely the best water bender (at least by the end of the series), and Zuko was damn strong.
Aang had some powerful friends.
Korra is getting the raw end of the bending spectrum allies. I really hope the bending improves, because she herself is still pretty terrible.
Bug Fixes Fixed an issue where, when facing a SlayerS terran, completing a hatchery would cause a medivac and 8 marines to randomly spawn nearby and attack it.

There was a great comment about how the two strongest earthbenders in the world were a 12 year old blind girl and a crazy 112 year old geezer.
To be fair though, I'm expecting a bit more out of Chief Bei Fong and Tenzin. She IS the chief of police and Toph's daughter, while Tenzin is the ONLY airbending master in the world AND son of the last avatar. And yet they can't take out more than one or two enemy grunts before getting taken out by electric something.

while toph was pretty sick, i always felt like katara was the most powerful of any character excluding aang in avatar state and ozai
a toph that wasn't blind wouldn't work of course, much of her power resulted from being blind
Guys, we're only at episode 7. If you watch the first 7 episodes of TLA, you don't see the ultra powerful bending your guys are talking about. That gets going near the end of S1 and increases through S2 and S3. Give it some time and I'm sure we will see a fast progress in bending power soon.

But 7 episodes through the last airbender was only about 1/9th of the series. It's a significantly longer portion of Korra. Also, the characters in Korra are older and should have more pracitce and skill bending. Katara and Toph were just children with a few little experience. Tenzin and Lin are adults and Korra is supposed to have mastered 3 elements. I'm personally a bit disappointed with the bending level so far, especially since the main characters are being defeated so easily.

Yes, I agree. It's not really a huge deal, (not so bad that I'd stop watching the show) but it's starting to feel really DBZ-ish. Like, every time a new enemy appears he just roflstomps everybody.

You can't rule out the fact that each time Korra and her crew face people they catch them by surprise. First, with chi-blocking and the second time with giant mechs that shoot electricity and incapacitate people. You can see that the second time Korra faces the chi-blockers she absolutely wrecks them. So, I'd wait until the next few episodes when the benders start taking the equalists seriously and pull out all the stops to defeat them before passing judgement on their bending abilities.

Totally agreed. I am watching the series and the first thing I noticed was the level of bending. Other than Korra making an ice wall against a metal bender police I dont think I have seen some big stuff. This is quite disappointing to see as the series is actually shorther(?) than TLA.
I like the caracters and the story so far, maybe some adjustments and new characters are needed. The main focus is on agility right now, but it makes the fight scenes too similar to each other. But I am sure it will change.
Oh and, I also dislike that the main characters are so bad now. I'm guessing we'll be seeing the kind of over-exaggarated character progression where they just whoop around with Chiblockers later on in the series while 2-3 chi-blockers right now pose a huge challenge.
Either way, I'm not watching this for the reality. I'm watching this series because it has a really good plot, some great characters with a lot of personality, and they've shown that they're good at evolving personalities. Plus, the fights are cool!

Lets go over some TLA history. In the original series Aang learned to remove people's earthbending from the lion turtle. The lion turtles was described as one of the oldest living creatures in the world and would have known this because he was there for the early earth.
Moving on. Koh, AKA the face stealer, was described as one of the oldest spirits in existance. He was there when the moon and ocean spirits decended to the planet and would have been privvy to early bending. He's likely as old or even older than the lion turtle. He also has a distrust of the avatar since Avatar Kuruk tried to kill him, he even mentions a previous avatar tried to kill him when talking to Aang.
Now fast forward to Amon. Not only does Amon not have a face he spoke about how he was given the power to take people's bending from the spirits. Amon claims the spirits said the Avatar had failed humanity. Koh dislikes the avatar, had an attempt on his life from a previous avatar, was old enough to know about the old form of bending, and Amon has no face.
I'm calling it. Koh is involved in this series and I have good reasons to believe so.
