or in case picture posting doesn't work here , which I've never tried before, here's the url : http://users2.ev1.net/~bobcar/scl/wcggroups.gif
so well everyone post your picks for top 2 for the different brackets
my picks would be something like
group A: Naz+HK, whear has a chance but I don't think he'll make it. most likely #4 seems like fizban.
group B: this one is hard. elky advances for sure, if he get #1 france that is. (which im pretty certain he will.) but I mean everyone cept ronny and executor are highly skilled players capable of beating eachother. I guess I'll go for grrr, simply cause well, he's grrr... I think ducky and beast probably have better chances than infinity and wizard though.
group C: starsin and socke. SuKeR gets #3.. only one really good player here.
group D: wowow harrrrrrrrrrrrd boxer fo sho. I think sobad gets #2, however froz has a pretty good chance.. didi, androide and possibly france #2 are good players too though. poor kazachstan #1.
group E: yellow and strafe. ranger has a chance, dunno if mumu[rush] is good or not, but I wouldn't rule him out. yellow advances for sure though.
group F: MTY and eSsaY. essay goes 7-0 and MTY 6-1, they can't possibly lose to anyone but eachother.
group G: Fisheye and Star.Leona I haven't heard much or seen much from star.leona, but the fact that he qualified from china is good enough for me. eza has a good chance too though, and cafone can probably steal a win or two. (pretty cheesy player from what i've seen ^_^)
group H: blackman advances for sure. other than that either hellghost or chobo, either way the #2 player will lose his first two games in the tournament afterwards..
I dunno if I'd characterize group D or group B as more group of death'ish, but those are easily the hardest brackets..
seems like whoever made the groups has a strong hatred for both usa and france, considering the brackets the american and french players were put in.

Haha.. > I love conspiracy theories. The brackets where drawn in China, and the Chinese players are all in the "easier" brackets, except for H.

not like I was serious.

Group A: Nazgul and Whear, maybe HK. I have huge faith in Naz. I don't know a lot about HK tho, so I'm betting for a player I know.
Group B: Grrr and Elky (given that he's F#1). See Drone's reasoning which I agree on.
Group C: starsin and socke. See Drone.
Group D: Hard group. Boxer first, because he's Boxer. The rest, omg, I don't know. Androide has proven himself quite the suprise beating Asmo in several games in Russian WCGs. Froz is Froz, I mean, he's good but not masterful imo. DIDI8... ahhh, total wildcard, imo. And Sobad has some real skills there.. ok, betting for Boxer and SoBaD.
Group E: Yellow and Ranger or Strafe.
Group F: I agree with Drone on this one too.
Group G: Fisheye and Leona, maybe Toss.
Group H: Goin' with Drone.
Man, this is going to be great. Some really, really nice matches coming up. Does anyone know if they are using the same gay gay gay rep system as last year?
|
from what i heard mumu isnt good (yeeh)
Does anyone know what ranger uses?
|
If you mean race Ranger is often random or he'll choose a race if he thinks his opponent has more trouble with that race. Apparently there's a system but he hasn't wanted to give it away in any interviews I've seen .
|
will we be able to c the reps oof these games?
|
What about Legionnaire i heard he beat MTY 5-1 recently .
go aussies go!

maybe he'll surprise us all. :O
haven't heard anything about him apart from that he's the best australian gamer, which in my experience doesn't say that much t.t
what race does he play?

maybe, last year it was possible.. hopefully this year too, considering that wcg is a worldwide arrangement and the koreans can't expect nonkoreans to watch vods with korean commentators over replays. :/

You just reminded me of something Drone. The WCG USA Finals in NY this year were broadcasted worldwide by TSN. It's very sad how little the TSN announcer knew about Starcraft. If you haven't heard the mp3 of the coverage, it's both sad and funny. If American companies (that is, more than CompUSA) put even a small fraction of resources into televised tournaments and pro-gaming in general, I would die a happy man. And, since English is the most influential language in the world, other countries could more or less benefit from English-speaking commentators They could do what the Olympics do and broadcast in multiple languages simultaneously.

Alright, I did this earlier, but now that there's more official players, I'll give it another whirl.
Group A: Nazgul / Whear. Naz is a big newbie, but he'll probably get lucky, so he gets a nod . I also have to root for Whear cuz he's such a good guy and a very solid terran (stay away from toss plz). Possible upsets from Fizban and HK, but as with the other guys I'm not real familiar with HK, and I think Whear can handle Fizban.
Group B: Grrr / Elky. Elky presuming he qualifies, but it's still an incredibly competitive bracket with Beast and Infinity as potential challengers. I think Grrr's still got the game to handle a win, and Elky's obviously just playing fantastic now. Wizard? I'm still surprised he got to the USA WCG Finals.
Group C: starsin / socke. It's already been explained why.
Group D: Joseh / Kazahkstan1. There's no real competition for them in this group. Seriously though, it doesn't just say AUTO next to Boxer's name because he got a free entrance into the tourney. This guy's auto-advancing to the next "round". After that it's so tight. I'm going to root for Froz though, gotta show my patriotic spirit right? Not to mention Froz seemed to really be rolling at USA WCG. Soso, Didi, and Androide could all grab that spot however.
Group E: Yellow / hmm. Yellow's pretty well got a lock on his spot because of his superb Zerg, after that I'm really not very familiar with these guys at all. From what I could dig up, my pick is going to be [pG]Ranger though.
Group F: Essay / MTY. They really should dominate this bracket. I haven't seen any of Lego's recent matches, but the ones before that don't indicate he's going anywhere fast.
Group G: Fisheye / Leona. Basically the same reasons as everyone else. I know Fisheye's better than most of those guys, and I know a long list of Chinese players that Leona beat who are better than them.
Group H: Just call this the talent division. Blackman should advance or retire from BW. After that I'm clueless, but I'll take chobo.

A: Nazgul and HK B: Grrrr... and Elky C: Junwi and Socke D: Boxer and France#2 (probably Chobo) E: YellOw and Ranger (ranger has pulled off soe big wins) F: Oddysay and MTY G: Fisheye and Star.Leona H: HellGhost and Blackman

group d - group of death
group h - group of life....that group really sucks
|
A- Naz, HK. I don't think Whear will make 5-2. B- Elky, Grrrr. End of story. Elky advances 7-0, Grrrr 6-1. Nobody here is even close to them. C- Starsin, Whoever. Star advances 6-1 with a freak loss in there somewhere. D- Boxer, Froz. Sobad has a hole in his swing. Froz will find it, while Androide won't. Also, Froz is better tvp and tvt then Androide. Froz advances. DIDI punches a chair or 3. E- Yellow, Whoever. F- Oddy, MTY. G- Leona, Whoever. Luckily Fisheye won't get 8 rine rushed and outclicked 2x by Boxer first round. H- Oh man lol.

or was that chobo? i forget lolz

Dont underestimate this group... BlackMan is probably the best zerg playing wcg after yellow and junwi, and Hellghost, this one Ill just let u all see on wcg... the group is the easier but I really would like to see what this 2 guys can do in the next round if they dont face any korean player or naz or elky.... well, luck is part of the game...
|
I'd counter that Blackman's Zerg is also very "limited". He doesn't have a wide variety of moves, so his "talent" will be hampered by those limitations.
Also, you can check out SCL's hot replay to see why I don't think HellGhost will be able to advance.
