if anything not participating makes me a neutral observer. all i see is an organiser using their position to leverage an advantage in the tournament. everyone would love to play under a smurf if they could, being able to play people without them drawing on your meta is huge. jealous aka fanatacist (right? or are you a different pbu i forget) said he wanted to play on one but was denied. sorry if i'm not here sprinkling rose petals everywhere but as an observer of the tournament it makes the competition seem less fair if one person is gaining an unfair advantage that is smurfing while others are denied it despite asking. as for my own participation, i couldn't commit to a tournament of this length of time due to uni commitments, i simply play when i can, so taking up a ladder spot only to have to forfeit later if i did qualify would be pointless

You are asshuming that I even play against these players on a daily basis. It's an unfair advantage in their favor if they know I was noise, not only are there VODs of me from GC, but there are multiple replay packs from ISL2 and ISL3 qualifiers. I dont know how you think that's fair at all when I only have the 3-4 games vs Lumire I've played months ago vs him to look back on. Or the one ladder game I play against Dsyxelic. Yea maybe you should do a bit more research before running your mouth like you know what you're talking about.

Just because you played in a streamed tournament one time doesn't mean you cant have a "fair" game against anyone else. you make it sound like every single person in the tour studied your vods from GC and you are completely ignorant of everyone elses playstyle, which is completely not the case... |

Hmm... this has really gone too far. Honestly, I don't know how any of you can stand for blatant defamation even if you agree to the point that was brought up. We're not dealing with a murder here, we're not dealing with a case of abuse... Let it go.
Stuff like this has to stop in order for BW to survive, you can't have a solid improvement in the scene if at every turn people try to defame any organization that arises. Regardless of how strong you feel about your point, if you feel strongly about Brood War you wouldn't voice it. |

defamation? Lol? how is that even a valid argument. I'm following a thread of a tournament I want to watch, and i see something going on that i dont agree with so i raise it in a public forum? Suddenly this is defamation? I'm not stating anything false to my knowledge, and I think it's important that tournaments have integrity. if we just let bullshit slide because someone is sponsoring then the tournament result because invalid, and it detracts from my own enjoyment of watching it, hence why i'm raising this issue here...on a public forum.
"doing it for Brood War" is exactly what i'm doing. just because proleague is switching to sc2 doesn't mean we suddenly have to accept sillyness. if anything, we need to fight against it. once tournaments get compromised by biased treatment of players based on arbitrary bullshit like "i played in gc so people could go study my playstyle if they wanted to" while others are denied the same right, the issue should at least be raised, rather than calling me out for defamation of character or some bullshit lol. |

Not that I particularly needed a smurf, I just wanted one because I like changing names ^^ Plus, ASL.ShitFaced is an awesome name... I was debating on having ASL.WutsUrSign like "age/sex/location? wuts ur sign bby?" xD.
Also, I don't think it's super unfair that he got a smurf because we can download his replays as he participated in the ASL tournaments, I downloaded a few ^^. Obviously it's not the pinnacle of justice either but seriously, I don't think it's that important - the person who seemed to care about it the most is ShotCoder himself, I doubt many others care at all really lol. Maybe krndandaman a little bit because of their recent altercation hahaha xD.
I DO want to brag and say that I have like 100+ replays on repdepot and some of them have been downloaded like 30 times! I'm famous, let me smurf next time! A/S/L BBY?! |

You entirely missed the point, there are 50, perhaps 100, or maybe 1000 people who have ONE issue with an event, if you all voice them, you all say "OH Stupid organization, why you do stuff like this"... How does Brood War survive? Why would an organizer go through that abuse. I defend Shimy because I know how it is to have 5-20 people complain about 10-50 different things every week while you're running a league and if you change to adapt to one of these, you have 5-10 other people who rise up and want to tell you what to do without doing any work for it. And in the end, it all boils down to "that's a stupid proceedure" "stupid decision" "stupid organizer". I mean, look at the first post, you took the most offensive route possible.

Nothing gets improved if everyone just sits back and lets bad things happen. I'd like to think i am helping someone, someone being people in future tournaments, where hopefully the rules about when and how smurfs are provided are clarified and made more equitable for all participants, and not just people pony-ing up the cash.

Alright then would this be an issue if Kororo, fold, or S2glow smurfed? That's where I'm getting at. you have an ulterior motive that isn't attacking the decision. if they asked and were denied after you were allowed i would have a problem with it. if they were allowed and you were denied i would have a problem with it. tournaments should be fair

I'd like to think i am helping someone, someone being people in future tournaments, where hopefully the rules about when and how smurfs are provided are clarified and made more equitable for all participants, and not just people pony-ing up the cash.

I'm just questioning what i see as an unfairness in the competition. as for shotcoder "conceding" in a passive agressive way to try and imply that i have a problem with him personally, there's not much to say but that's just...wrong. questioning things when I percieve as being unfair and giving my reasoning shouldn't be seen as some personal attack.
