The Bo7s you watched were post-season play-off matches. Only two teams are left in contention, SKT and KT. They will play in the Proleague Final on 8th April. |

Whenever I see the CJ team, I'm reminded of the glorius GO team that had the likes of Go_Rush, Nal_Ra, Midas, ForU, and of course, Xellos. Xellos was a GO man through and through, and stuck with his team and even shared is tournament winnings. The team just oozed class. Plus, coach Cho was awesome. Throughout the years we've seen the rise of so many generations of superb players from the team.
Team 8 reminds me of the now gone POS team and PLUS teams. How July came out of nowhere into superstardom. How he played his designted 1v1 games, 2v2 games as both zerg and terran, ACE matches, and to top things of even 1v1 games as a random player, to support his team while coach Ha constructed the team from rock bottom to discover stars such as Sea. How MBCGame eventually conquered all with their three musketeers. Or the parallel story from the PLUS team with Anytime, and their rise to the top only two years after being the worst team out there by far.
Then there are teams that steal. Like when KT snatched Flash when WeMade Fox was under financial stress. Especially so with SK Telecom T1 with the likes of Midas, and Bisu. Their success and victories are less meaningful because their stories can be summarized with "So we bought these guys, and some faltered because their drive was no longer there because of the high salaries, but it's okay because we also got some other guys and it worked out great for us."
SK Telecom T1 and KT are boring because they are the epitome of the financially stable teams. There are no odds stacked against them. There are no miracles. There are no superstars that come out of nowhere, only mercinaries. They are expected to do well, and often do well, and when they don't, it's okay because they can buy more players. Teams like MBCGame reached the top against all odds, but when they couln't keep their best future prospect in Bisu because of financial hardships, the miracle couldn't be sustained and now they're disbanded.
There's no uncertainty for the bigger teams, and while that may make things easier to support them, just know you're supporting the most boring teams also. A bigger trophy cabinet and fan base doesn't always mean a richer history.
Very well, you described my thoughts
Did I seriously just read a post saying that Flash isn't homegrown KT talent, and that SKT doesn't have a rich history?
That's some insanely selective memory if you remember CJ's legacy as GO team, but refuse to remember anything about SKT/KT other than them buying players.Last edit: 2012-03-27 03:18:52 |

| KT, so clutch. Even as a KT fan, I wouldn't have minded two completely different teams in the finals. |

I had to leave right after Flash won his game... coming back and reading the results now, I'm not surprised.
Shame Khan couldn't do better than this... after such a promising regular season |

Flash while he was on WeMade was a B-teamer, he didn't even play any televised matches and all B-teamers traditionally recieved next to no salary. And you would be lying to yourself if you think that Flash's BW carreer wasn't homegrown by KT. If we tried to track down B-teamer trades between teams who later became significant players we would be here all day.
Since you are responding to a post by Letmelose, I'm only relaying his response from another thread. I don't know enough about the history of the game to really have an opinion about this. Flash was already the best player on WeMade during practice even before he made his debut. Flash already mentioned how much he improved his game as a practice partner during his time at WeMade (the likes of Hero took him under his wing). It's at WeMade where Flash finally realized his dream as a progamer, it's there where he earned the title of "Nada's protege", it's at WeMade where his parents finally realized that this kid was something special, and decided to let the kid follow his dreams.
The thing is, Pantech had just went out of business and WeMade's future was very unstable. All the other teams, out of respect, decided not to abuse the uncertain future of the WeMade players. Except for KT. They realized the kid's potential and took him away. This is no secret. It was a dirty thing to do, and there were a lot of controversy over it. There was a reason why KT went so far just to take a mere practice partner. Word had spread over how good this kid was. While to the average viewer, he may have been just another progamer, the kid had serious skills to begin with. And to dismiss his time at WeMade just like that, Flash would be the first to tell you how wrong that is. He may be a KT man through and through, but don't be so sure to look over his roots. His legacy definately did not start off at KT.
Remember when Jaedong was forced to be a free agent by his parents? I wonder what would have happened to BW if he had gone to SKT (there was a rumour that they gave an offer for him)... Luckily he refused because he loved his team.Last edit: 2012-03-27 21:38:44 |

you should have at least told us the name of the guy youre quoting. i dont remember any debacle about the flash transfer, but i remember a flash interview where he said his parents wouldnt have let him play on if he wouldnt have accomplished anything (win a starleague title) within one year. and he was only able to accomplish this at kt. + Show Spoiler +on wemade he would have been another mind. |

For those who have not voted yet.
There is a poll in the Day 2 thread but it is not getting the attention it deserves, and it seems void because Kiett and flamewheel are unavailable. Since this event and thread is important, I would like to simplify this with the poll below. Please vote for your choice.
Original Poll:
On March 25 2012 15:04 BLinD-RawR wrote:Poll: Finals LR threadHyde (32) 40% Flamewheel (15) 19% disciple (12) 15% Kiett (12) 15% me..... (9) 11% 80 total votes Your vote: Finals LR thread (Vote): Flamewheel (Vote): disciple (Vote): Hyde (Vote): Kiett (Vote): me.....
I did this poll last season...thread was eventually done by lightwip. Kiett can't do it, don't vote for kiett(btw I voted for kiett)
Simplified Poll:
Poll: Who should make the SPL Finals (SKT vs KT) LR Thread?Hyde (67) 86% Blind-Rawr (11) 14% 78 total votes Your vote: Who should make the SPL Finals (SKT vs KT) LR Thread? (Vote): Hyde (Vote): Blind-Rawr
