Never make the 1st or 3rd out of an inning at 3rd base.

Is Bret Lawrie the next Mike Schmidt? or maybe the next George Brett?
Right now he looks like the next Garth Iorg.

Dunno if anyone follows the MLB draft but Mark Appel from Stanford has slipped past the Royals at 5. Yikes. With his contract demands, it might be some time before he gets picked up, but whoever picks him will be quite happy to get a prospect of that caliber at their draft spot.

did you watch the game or just quickly read the stats?
he misplayed a catchable fly ball during the game and was given an error that led to a White Sox run.

it is nice to see him have a 5 hit game, but it does not change his inadequate offensive production while playing in a hitter's ball park.

Absolutely nobody deserves it more than Matt Cain, either. Guy is so humble, works so hard, and is possibly the most consistent pitcher in baseball.
Giants haven't had good run support, so our pitchers don't have those huge win numbers, but look at ERA.
I'm so happy for Matt Cain.

Sooo I'm going to be at the park tomorrow, and could have been there tonight.
Chose tomorrow as the US Open starts tomorrow in SF at the Olympic Club, where my great great Aunt is a member.
Hopefully get to stop there if I'm lucky
