Attention: We have gone with the decision to remove our 1080p / 30 fps option in favor of 720p / 60 fps. Throughout our testing this week we have discovered that it will be too risky to go forward with 1080p for this event. On the bright side, with 720p / 60 fps, it means that every resolution under 720p will also be at 60 fps, whereas if we had 1080p / 30 fps, all other resolutions would only be available at 30 fps. We hope that you understand, but if not, we will offer refunds to those who have purchased HD subscriptions for this month. Send your TwitchTV username to iplsubscription (at) gmail (dot) com if you will require a refund.

This is our first time doing any sort of paid option for our streams, so this thread is here for you to ask questions, give feedback, and just discuss our new plan.
Starting on Thursday, April 5th, IGNProLeague is switching to a subscription model on TwitchTV. Here is the basic information for how the subscription works:
- It is a $5 (USD) monthly subscription that automatically renews each month (like Netflix or a World of WarCraft account).
- You can cancel at any time. You will still have HD qualities available until one month has elapsed from the time of purchase.
- Major credit cards are accepted, as well as Paypal.
- This pass gives you access to 720p and 1080p stream qualities for all of IPL's events.
- VODs in 720p and 1080p will be available to subscribers. Non-subscribers will only have access to 480p and below.
- You also get this neat little icon next to your name!

Here are all of the TwitchTV streams that ONE $5 HD subscription covers. These channels will still have free 480p and below for everyone:
- IGNProLeague (Main Stage Stream for IPL4 / All IPL online SC2 events)
- IGNProLeague2 (Secondary SC2 Stream during IPL4)
- IGNProLeague3 (On Sunday, April 8th, the Championship Bracket of IPL4, the Korean commentators will be broadcast on this channel)
- IPLLoL (Main Stage Stream for IPL4 League of Legends / All IPL online LoL events)
- IPLLiveU (Roaming camera crew and hosts / interviews during all of IPL4 and other live events)
- IPLFighters (All IPL online or live Fighting Game events)
Here are all of the events coming up that the HD Subscription will cover:
For the GSTL Finals on the evening of Saturday, April 7th, our IGNProLeague subscription WILL NOT grant you HD qualities. GSTL has its own subscription model that we must adhere to. You can find more information on how to subscribe to GSTL and GSL here: http://www.gomtv.net/ticket/index.gom
GSTL Finals will be shown for free on IGNProLeague's stream in 480p quality and below.
GSTL Finals VODs will not be available on any IGNProLeague channels in any quality. These will be for GSTL subscribers only as well.
For people who purchased 1-year or 2-year IGN Prime subscriptions on or just before IPL3 in September/October 2011, please e-mail iplsubscription (at) gmail (dot) com with your IGN Prime login name. We will e-mail you back with a 1-year HD subscription coupon code for our TwitchTV subcription package. The cutoff to request this coupon code will be April 21st.

So will the revenue for this go directly to bigger prize pools or to the casters/production or what? I appreciate that it costs a lot of money to run a quality tournament, but I can't help but want to drool over uber money. |

I paid for the IGN prime subscription for IPL 3. Will I be able to watch IPL 4 in HD? I have the 2 year subscription.

Sorry IPL.....I will not be purchasing an HD pass for the event, I don't think it offers enough to me for the price.

This is helping directly pay for our new production equipment that makes it possible for us to stream at 1080p when we're at our home office in SF - tricasters, various other technical things that I don't know about or understand but look cool and impressive, etc. |
