Invite Online Qualifiers

From April 27-30, we will hold the Invite-Only Online Qualifiers, featuring: the 9th – 80th place finishers from the Winter Championship, the Top 8 from each Region of the Open Qualifiers, and the bottom 4 from Arena 1. The Top 8 from each Region of the Invite-Only Qualifiers will get all-expenses paid trips to Arena 2. This will be broadcast online and cast by some of the best in the business.

Spring StarCraft II Arena 1, April 20-22, NYC

The Top 8 players from the Winter Championship will compete live in NYC. The Top 4 will get direct seeding into Arena 2, later in the season, a share of $10,900 in prizes, and guaranteed entry into Pool Play at the Spring Championship. The bottom 4 finishers will drop into the Invite-Only Online Qualifiers.

Spring StarCraft II Arena 2, May 18-20, NYC

This Arena will be very similar in structure to the Winter Arena. There will be 32 players:

Top 4 from Arena 1
Top 8 from each Region of the Invite-Only Qualifiers
4 additional players TBA

The Top 8 from Spring Arena 2 will share $26,400 in prize money. 12 players from Arena 2, in addition to the Top 4 from Arena 1, will start in Pool Play at the Spring Championship, and the bottom 16 will start in Open Winners R5.

Spring Arena #2 Format
1. The Event will support as many as 32 Players
2. Players finishing in the top 12, not including the top 4 from Spring Arena #1, will earn a starting spot in Spring Championship Pool Play.
3. Players finishing in the bottom 16, not including the top 4 from Spring Arena #1, will earn a starting spot in Winners Round 4 of the Spring Championship Open Bracket.
4. The Event will consist of a Double Elimination Bracket with Consolation Matches (See Bracket Format #3).

Match Format
1. All Matches, except for the Finals, will be Best of 3 Games, unless the Players have already played each other in the Event.
2. If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in the Event, in any Round other than the Finals, their Match will expand to a Best of 7, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off. For example, if Player A beat Player B 2 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 7 will resume with Game 3 and Player A leading 2 Games to 0.
3. If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in the Event, in the Finals, their Match will expand to a Best of 9, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off. For example, if Player A beat Player B 2 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 9 will resume with Game 3 and Player A leading 2 Games to 0.
4. If the Players scheduled to play each other in the Finals have not yet played against each other in the Event, an initial Best of 5 Games Match must be played. If the Player who came from the Winners Bracket wins the initial Match, they will win the Event. If the Player who came from the Losers Bracket wins the initial Match, the Match will expand to a Best of 9, include the initial Match, and pick up where that Match left off. For example, if the Losers Bracket Player beat the Winners Bracket Player 3 Games to 0 in the initial Match, the Best of 9 will resume with Game 4 and the Losers Bracket Player leading 3 Games to 0.
5. The winner of a Finals Best of 9 will win the Event.

Bracket Format
1. The Event will have a Winners Bracket and a Losers Bracket. After losing a Match in the Winners Bracket, Players will enter the Losers Bracket. A Match loss in the Losers Bracket will result in elimination from the Event (See Bracket Format #3).
2. All Winners Round 1 Matchups will be set by the Players seeded #1-15. Starting with the #1 Seed, Players must choose their Winners Round 1 opponent from the Players seeded #17-32. In Winners Round 1, the #16 Seed will play the Player not chosen.
3. Players eliminated by way of Losers Bracket Rounds 2 & 3 may be scheduled to play one, two, or three Consolation Matches in order to determine the Player(s) who earn a starting spot in Spring Championship Pool Play and/or to be ranked as Spring Championship Pool Play Alternates. Consolation Matches will be scheduled for Sunday. If Players win one and lose one Consolation Match, they may be scheduled to play another Consolation Match in order to break any ties that exist.

Seeding
1. Spring Arena #2 Players who qualified via finishing top 4 in Spring Arena #1 will be seeded, at the top, based on the following criteria in this order: Spring Arena #1 Final Standings and Spring Arena #1 Round Robin Standings.
2. Spring Arena #2 Players who qualified via a Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier or Dreamhack Stockholm, and some Replacement Players, will be seeded based on the following criteria in this order: Invite-Only Online Qualifier Standings, Winter Championship Standings, and 2011 Pro Circuit Rank Points (See Replacement Players #4). Winter Championship and Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier Consolation Match results may be used to break ties. Ties may also be broken by the next available criterion or randomly. If the Dreamhack Stockholm winner was qualified for a Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier, they will be seeded alongside Players who win their Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier. If the Dreamhack Stockholm winner wasn’t qualified for a Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier, they will be seeded last.
3. The following Winter Championship Standings placements will be used: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 13th, 17th, 21st, 25th, 29th, 33rd, 41st, 49th, and 65th.

Replacement Players
1. If a Registered Player chooses not to participate in the Event, and notifies MLG prior to the start of the Event, a Replacement Player may be selected to take their place.
2. If a Replacement Player is needed for a Player who qualified via Spring Arena #1, the Replacement Player will be the next highest placing Player in the Spring Arena #1 Final Standings.
3. If a Replacement Player is needed for a Player who qualified via a Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier, the Replacement Player will be the next highest an OQ Player, the Replacement Player will be the next highest placing Player in the specific Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier’s Final Standings.
4. If a Replacement Player is needed after the Bracket is set, the Replacement Player will be seeded behind all Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier participants and given the exact position within the Bracket of the Player that they have replaced.
5. When a Replacement Player is used, other Registered Players may see their Seed change. However, if the Bracket has already been set, all Players will keep their position within the Bracket.
6. Players who are replaced may not participate in the Event.
7. If a Registered Player chooses not to participate in the Event, and notifies MLG after the start of the Event, a Replacement Player won’t be selected to take their place.

Registration
1. Qualified Players must confirm their attendance by 5 PM EDT on Friday, May 11th.
2. Only Qualified Players may participate in the Event.
3. There is no Entry Fee for participation in the Event.
4. After obtaining a Player Pass, all Players must use Team Builder (http://team-builder.majorleaguegaming.com/) in order to complete their Registration, including accepting the 2012 Pro Circuit Official Rules.

Equipment Rules
1. Players must provide their own mouse, keyboard, headset, and mouse pad. Players must use the PC and Monitor provided by MLG.
2. Players must provide their own Battle.net account, with an active Starcraft 2 license, for the North America (NA) Region.
3. Please submit all mouse, keyboard, and headset driver requirements to kkramer@mlgpro.com by 11:59 PM ET on Monday, May 14th.
4. All Player equipment is subject to approval.
5. Players may not use a Wireless headset or a headset that requires an outlet for power.
6. Mice and keyboards must utilize standard USB interfaces. Players may not use PS2 interface equipment.
7. Players may not use 3rd party Add-ons.
8. Players may not alter game files or modify drivers.
9. Players may not disable the “Save All Replays” Gameplay Option, remove a replay, or copy a replay.
10. Players may not watch a replay between a Match’s Games.
11. Players may not have applications, browsers, or streams open other than the Starcraft 2 launcher or application and any necessary drivers.
12. Players may not change the video settings in Windows.
13. Players who break Equipment Rules #5-12 will be given a Warning. Each subsequent Warning that a Player receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game (See Gameplay Rule #8).

General Rules
1. Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game and/or disqualification from the Event.
2. The exact MLG Map version must be used for all Games.
3. Players may be asked to wear MLG apparel while on a Stream.
4. In the case of a Computer/Monitor/Battle.net malfunction, the Game may be restarted from the beginning, determined by the Commissioner of MLG.
5. If a Player fails to report to their Station within 5 minutes after their Match’s scheduled start time (Grace Period), they will Forfeit the 1st Game. If a Player fails to report to their Station within 15 minutes of their Match’s scheduled start time, they will Forfeit the Match. If Players scheduled to play each other both Forfeit a Game or Match, the higher seeded Player will win the Game or Match.
6. If their Match has not been completed, Players must ask their Referee for permission to leave their Station. Referees may set a time limit by the end of which the Player must return to their Station or they may deny the Player’s request. Players may Forfeit a Game(s) if they haven’t returned by the end of their Referee’s set time limit. Players may Forfeit a Game(s) if they leave their Station without their Referee’s permission, or are otherwise unable to play.
7. In order to dispute Game results, Players must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Game before a new Game has begun. In order to dispute Match results, Players must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Match before the Match’s Score Sheet has been submitted to the Tournament Director.
8. Players may request that they be allowed to concede victory of a Game. Players may request that their opponent not receive a Forfeit penalty or a penalty associated with receiving a Technical Foul.
9. Requests made pertaining to General Rules #7-8 will be decided upon by the Commissioner of MLG.

Conduct Rules
1. Players may not Pause a Game unnecessarily.
2. Players may not chat about companies, sponsors, or products.
3. Players may not chat excessively.
4. Players who are scheduled to play a Match within one hour have priority over other Players regarding the use of Warm-Up Stations. Also, Players who haven’t been eliminated from the Event have priority over other Players regarding the use of Warm-Up Stations.
5. Provided they are setup on the appropriate Tournament Station, Players may participate in a Warm-Up Game(s) until they are instructed by their Referee to join the Game Lobby.
6. Players must disable Toast Notifications in the Battle.net options.
7. Players must set their status to Busy.
8. Players found to have broken any of Conduct Rules #1-7 may receive a Foul. For the consequences related to receiving Fouls and Technical Fouls, see the Pro Circuit Conduct Rules.
9. Language used in in-game chat will be governed by the Pro Circuit Conduct Rules.

Gameplay
1. Players who look at an opposing Player’s Monitor or projected screen, during a Game, will Forfeit the Game.
2. Players may request that their Referee conduct a Blind Pick of Races for any Game.
3. Both Players may switch their Race after each Game.
4. If a Game is started without the approval of a Tournament Official it will be restarted from the beginning.
5. Players who quit out of a Game before it has ended, without a Tournament Official’s permission, will Forfeit the Game.
6. Players who are disqualified prior to the start of a Game will not be allowed to play in the Game. Players who are disqualified during a Game must quit out of the Game. Players who are disqualified won’t receive any benefits (seeding, prize, etc.) for their ranking in the Event. Such Players may also be subject to a Temporary Ban from MLG’s Network of Websites and/or a Ban from a future Pro Circuit Event(s).
7. An observer will host all Games in a Match.
8. Only MLG Staff members may connect to a Game as an observer. Inviting someone to observe a Match, without permission from a Tournament Official, will result in a Warning. Each subsequent Warning that a Player receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game (See Equipment Rule #13).
9. If a Player loses their connection to the Host during a Game or their connection becomes unstable, the in-game disconnect timer will be used. If the timer reaches 0, the Commissioner of MLG will decide whether the Game should be replayed or a winner should be declared.
10. If an observer loses their connection to the Game, when the Game launches, the Game must be restarted from the beginning.
11. If an observer loses their connection to the Game, after the Game launches, but both Players remain in the Game, the Game must continue.
12. The higher seeded Player must play as the Red team and the lower seeded Player must play as the Blue team. The highest seed is 1.
13. If a Game ends in a tie, it must be replayed. The Commissioner of MLG may also declare a tie.

Map Selection
1. Prior to a Best of 3 Games Match’s Vetoes and Map Choices, the higher seeded Player must choose to act as Player A or Player B. Player A must veto one Map first, then Player B must veto two Maps, and then Player A must veto one more Map. The vetoed Maps will not be played in the Match. Player B must choose the Game 1 Map and then Player A must choose the Game 2 Map. The Game 3 Map will be the Map that hasn’t been chosen or vetoed.
2. All Vetoes and Map Choices must be made prior to the start of a Match (See Map Selection #4 & #6).
3. If a Best of 3 Games Match is expanded to a Best of 7 Games Match, a new set of Vetoes and Map Choices must be made. If Game 3 wasn’t played in the Winners Bracket, the Game will be played on the Map that was originally designated for Game 3. This time, the winner of the Winners Bracket Match must choose to act as Player A or Player B. Player A must veto one Map first and then Player B must veto one Map. The vetoed Maps can’t be chosen for Game 4 or 5. Player A must choose the Game 4 Map. The Game 5 Map will be the Map that hasn’t been chosen or vetoed. Player B must choose the Game 6 Map. The Game 7 Map will be the Map that hasn’t been chosen.
4. For a Finals Best of 5 Games Match, the Losers Bracket Player must veto one Map first, then the Winners Bracket Player must veto one Map. The vetoed Maps will not be played in the Best of 5 Games Match. The Players must then alternate choosing each Game’s Map starting with the Winners Bracket Player choosing the Game 1 Map. If the Match is extended to a Best of 9, the Winners Bracket Player must choose the order in which the vetoed Maps are played for Games 6 & 7.
5. No Map may be played more than once in a Best of 3, Best of 5, or Best of 7 Games Match.
6. If a Best of 9 Games Match reaches Game 8, another series of vetoes will be used to determine the Maps that are repeated. Players must alternate vetoing one Map, starting with the Winners Bracket Player, until there are only two Maps remaining (Repeated Maps). Finally, the Winners Bracket Player must choose the order in which the Repeated Maps will be played. If a Game, involved in a Finals Best of 9, is Forfeited according to General Rules #5, MLG reserves the right to modify this rule.
7. No Map will be considered as having been used in a Game that is Forfeited according to General Rules #5.

Important information for those who have purchased Season Passes: you should have received an email from MLG, titled either "MLG Store- Major League Gaming Order Confirmation" or "MLG SCII Online Qualifier and Spring Arena 2 PPV Code." This email contains your Season Pass code. If you haven't seen this email, please check through your junk mail; it may have accidentally been caught by spam filters.

2012 Spring Championship!

This tournament is open to everybody! The Player who wins the Championship Bracket will be crowned the 2012 Spring Champion.

Competitor Passes for all Spring Championship games go on sale for Gold Members on Monday, April 30 at 7pm ET. They will become available for everyone to purchase on Tuesday, May 1 at 7pm ET.

Spectator passes can be purchased in the MLG Store

The MLG Anaheim event will take place June 8-10 (The Full StarCraft 2 Schedule has not yet been released.)

Please try to purchase your pass as soon as they go on sell and come to Anaheim and show your support for MLG and the North American SC2 scene!

As always, please feel free to ask any questions regarding the event, and I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability. Please keep in mind that there are still details to be released, so if the information is not below, it's likely not available yet.

Registration for the Championship event does not end until June 4th, so the player list cannot be released until after that date. However, the pools, including any replacements that are made in pools, are typically released a couple of weeks earlier than the rest of the competitor list.

North American and European Open Online Qualifier passes are still being sold. They will only be available until April 9th at 12th respectively, so get them while you can. Top 8 in each OQ will get an invite to Invite Only OQ to play for a spot in the Arena 2 where you can win $$$.
