Most of the soon-to-be-dead people they somehow manage to convince to monitor exams at the higher education in Holland are already confused by the concept that you can communicate with a phone without talking. A friend of mine does an IT study. The amount of cheating that goes on there is just flat out ridiculous. All of the supervisors for an exam are old people, like 80+ old. All hundred or so students can do whatever they feel like on their phones, these people just don't understand what is going on. With these glasses they might as well abolish the exams, lol.
Schools need to change the way the exams are thought and what they are evaluating. Knowing something by heart is no longer such a useful skill now that information is quickly available anywhere (there are some exceptions).

Agreed. With technology making it easier to find and process information, a lot of technical professions (mine included) are becoming more about your ability to find the answer rather than know the answer. Obviously, after you get years of experience this no longer matters, but at least in my case, examination for my certification was more about my ability to know what the relevant information was, look it up in the reference materials in a reasonable amount of time, and apply it to the specific problem.
Now if only we could test for common sense.... |

I've been trying to find out but can't seem to find anything
Will these come in versions able to be integrated with prescription glasses? I've been getting tired of contacts and would rather wait on these. |

This isnt gonna happen anytime soon, though it should. The current style of education is largely redundant. |

Thought about this idea a long time ago when someone mentioned the use of "virtual tags" (not someone exactly, it was some other company).
This is just too cool. |

Now I have an excuse for wearing glasses for so long and never switching to contacts! I've been training to heft these bad boys around on my face...lol
The first thing that comes to mind when considering this idea is that people ALREADY wearing glasses every day are going to be the only ones interested in this. Anyone who has taken the time to wear contacts, and/or get surgery, is not going to want to go back to wearing glasses all the time.
This could be pretty cool! We shall see.
But y'know what? If they are cool enough, I can definitely see some of the non-glasses community wanting a piece of this, especially 12-30 year olds.Last edit: 2012-04-06 03:43:08 |

Batman: Beautiful, isn't it? Lucius Fox: Beautiful... unethical... dangerous. You've turned every cellphone (insert: set of eyes) in Gotham (insert: world) into a microphone (insert: camera/gps/microphone/etc). Batman: And a high-frequency generator-receiver (insert: internet connection). Lucius Fox: You took my sonar concept (insert: HUD) and applied it to every phone in the city (insert: head in the world). With half the city (insert: world) feeding you sonar (insert: about everything), you can image all of Gotham (insert: image/map/locate/record the whole world) . This is *wrong*. Batman: I've gotta find this man, Lucius (insert: make money). Lucius Fox: At what cost? Batman: The database is null-key encrypted. It can only be accessed by one person (insert: google). Lucius Fox: This is too much power for one person (insert: company).
As much as im a fan of google and their products and corporate philosophy, this kinda scares me ! What scares me even more is that I wouldnt think twice about buying one today if i could... |

I was a little disappointed in the mapping... rather than show a 2d map for you to look at... it should actually draw a line along the floor and point to the destination in the overlay. Augmented reality right?
I also hesitate to start wearing glasses again after spending thousands on LASIK a few years ago... lol! |

| Honestly, I find it scary. Then again, I'm sure something like the Internet would be a scary concept for your average person a few decades back, so who am I to talk? This technology is exciting of course, and I wouldn't be against developing it and bringing it out, but I would be iffy about it personally. |

+ Show Spoiler + ^^ I am so torn on whether or not to get these if they were out (and assuming i had the money and they worked out all the kinks i.e will it strain your eye). I already wear glasses and this right here would be so god damn badass. But my main concern is highlighted in the futurama episode shown above.
You are connected/utilizing Google's network... a company that specializes in advertisement. I highly doubt they would keep your information private. And what is the security measures for the wireless connection? I really hope it doesn't utilize blue tooths security measures considering it is so shitty but then again I can't imagine them giving it a type 1 encryption.
