This is not the place to talk about LoL viewership.

This is also not a place to caster bash/balance whine/flame, etc.

Please don't argue about how many views LoL has, or which game is better, or we will be upset.
(added page 174)

Also, lay off Scarlett please. (added page 227)

foreigner better get better!

i dont have a problem with korean only non korean tournament - good way to show the rest of the world that they have to train much more or prepare better...

isnt it good to see that non koreans could get that much better... (even the koreans aren't on their highest lvl yet i guess)

well, there are plenty of smaller tourneys that have all foreigners in them, why not watch those?

Yeah, it's really sad that the players with the most dedication and skill are winning the big prize money. Oh wait.

What I like about this tournament is it proved right the people who suggested the first genuinely good female player in the foreign scene would not be signed on gender. Based on play vs Koreans Scarlett can probably be seen as one of NA's very best players, and she didn't have to stream with a webcam pointed at her breasts to get attention, but has proven it on skill alone. This is basically what every person hounded by the TL whiteknights has been waiting for. Awesome.

I view the whole Korean vs foreigner thing similar to how I view basketball in the US vs rest of the world. In the end, I basically want to watch the best of the best when it comes to any sport, or e-sport. If the best happens to come from one country, they're still the best.

Cultural diversity is nice and good, but in the end I want to see the best play.

If you're worried about being banned I can imagine what your argument is based on anyway, so good plan.

No, what's bad is that when a scene is based only on "who is the best", there is no real emotional involvment, because, well, you don't actually care who wins, so what's going to happen is that pepole who can't get the dopamine rush of having their favorite win will just drop off, they also happen to be a very large majority of the viewers (check out MLG's votes on "who's the favorite" between HuK and Heart, Huk got 93% of the votes without being a favorite in any way).
Less casual viewers - smaller tournemants, smaller prize pools, no more IPLs, no more MLGs and so on, less Koreans going abroad, and that won't fix the problem because by then...

The current "good foreigners" will do the intelligent thing and drop the game, and go to school, they are all pretty intelligent people, who could make a lot more money by having a "real" job, like a physician or so, I find it incredible when people tell foreigners to train more, why should they? so that they can, maybe, win an extra 5,000 a year?

The best thing to do for the foreign players themselves is to quit playing the game as a profession, andgo towards a more stable, better paying job, while maybe keep on playing as a hobby.

Cultural diversity ?
How do skin color equals "cultural diversity" ? The east-asian nations and players are among the most mono-cultural ones.
Skin colour/Ethnicity != cultural diversity lolmao.

Besides, if the european/americans weren't invited to these events they would drop even lower in terms of skill...
If anything, we should look toward new promising players rather than keep inviting the likes of white-ra, brat-ok, incontrol, machine, arguably idra... who've did their times so to speak (not a question of age, but they've shown their limits in Starcraft 2 for quite some months and even years for some).

.

(Wiki)IGN ProLeague Season 4/Pools

I'd say that's about right. White-ra and Idra are already 0-2 in their groups and the chance of Idra beating Jjakji and Ghostking and somehow advancing with 2-2 is low. Whitera can possibly beat JYP in PvP but I don't see him taking out Curious which would leave him at 1-3.

Stephano still has to play JYP which I think he can take unless JYP pulls an Inori and wins somehow, and he has a good chance vs Curious too. If he wins both of those matches he will be 3-1 and likely advance in second place. If he beats JYP but loses to Curious he will be 2-2 and it will depend on how the rest of the group performs to see if he gets through, but again the chance of advancing with 2-2 is low.

If by "win it" you mean take the entire tournament, then that is a very small chance indeed. I do however believe he'll make it out of the pool play, given that he absolutely crushed JYP 4-0 the last time they played. As far as Curious goes... well we'll see, it's hard to say. Regardless, I don't have very high hopes he'll make it any further than the RO8.

lol why is that bad? Just because causal players cannot appreciate the much higher gaming standard from the korean players, it doesn't make the scene bad.
What they want is show matches, not a real competitive tournament where koreans are just better

without doing the math exactly, I think that everyone can (theoretically) still make it out of the pool.
F.e:
Bomber beats Jjakji and GhostKing and is 4-0
Idra beats Jjakji and GhostKing and is 2-2
Jjakji beats MMA and GhostKing and is 2-2
GhostKing beats MMA and is 1-3
MMA is 1-3

Idra has beaten Jjakji and takes second place in the group - or it is decided by wins/losses (don't know the exact format), which is also possible (I believe).

Because the scene will die, duh, it isn't like BW where there's ton of korean viewers, without foreigners watching the current SC2 scene is unsustainable.
