Water spilled on blackwidow keyboard, slavagable?

So im watching ipl4 eating some sourdough bread and drinking a glass of water. I then stupidly knock my glass of water over, it spilling on the keyboard and iphone. I hold the keyboard upside down while my bro gets paper towels. In the chat box on twitch i noticed -------- was being inputed, and then nothing. The computer then started making the sound when you connect/disconnect something repeatedly, so i unplugged it. My iphones fine btw.

The keyboard is currently under a fan. I decided to try to plug ot in after water was no longer noticeable, but my comp was "unsuccessful in installing driver software".
And the keyboard obv didnt work. So its under the fan

I've read online that some people take apart their keyboard, pour distilled water over it, and let it dry put it back together and its fine.

I've also read that some people use blowdryers and let it dry for a few days and its fine

However, ive read you should immediately unplug the keyboard, and i didnt do that.

So TL, is it salvagable? I promise i become chobo gosu progamer and beat all koreans if you fix it.

STOP USING IT. RIGHT NOW. AIR IT OUT FOR THE NEXT WEEK.

I did somethign similar, except it was a whopping 12 drops of water. I was like pfft whatever and just continued to use it.

I broke that keyboard forever. It would constantly think I was pressing and holding alt every 5 seconds or so.

Up to you man. I was pretty pissed that I killed a $100 keyboard with about half a centimeter of water from a small cup.

Open it up and dry it off. If it's currently not working there's a good chance water drops inside the case might be causing short circuits. If some worse damage has happened then it's already too late any way. Putting it under a fan for a week would be silly, if you do have a short, it's inside the case and not really something the fan can hit, so it won't make a difference.

Be careful not to break it further if you do open it up, find a guide online, I'm sure some one has opened those up before.

EDIT: Be aware opening up your keyboard probably voids the waranty. Although spilling water on it probably does as well

Yeah i read on razers website that spiiling water voids the warranty. Could i perhaps try to plug it in tomoro and then if it doesnt work RMA it saying its defective? I read that someone did that and it worked(cuz the internet is a trustworthy source.)

Well, you could. I have no idea how effective that would be. I imagine they probably know how to determine if the cause of the damage was a liquid spill of any sort fairly easily.

A couple hours should be sufficient, especially if it was a little bit of water. plus you did the right thing by putting it under a fan. Now if it was soda or some other drink product you might not be so lucky

Strange. I've washed cheap keyboards under running water which worked just fine. Thought they could take it. Maybe depends on if they are plugged in..

I have spilled water in lager amounts on my blackwidow (not the ulitmate) about 3 times now at least every time I just have unpluged it flipped it over and let it dry for about 20 mins then plug it back in a go back to gaming.

From what I have seen its a pretty sturdy board water wise i have killed quite a ferw in my day with carless water habits.

Sablar its about short curcits which need power to occure but I still wouldnt recomend using that much water to clean a board because you risk water getting inside and staying there better of with high% alcohol, or a damp cloth.

I cleaned my old one by running it through water lol, I imagine yours will be fine once it dries out.

This is the reason I switch to my rubber dome keyboard when i know that im not gonna be gaming. no joke, seasoned keyboards feel as good as mechanical ones

I spilled half a glass of water on my Filco Majestouch. I immediately turned it upside down and drained all the water out that I could. I pulled many of the keys off and dried out underneath the keycaps and in the switch wells. There was a significant amount of water built up in some of the switches. Some of the keys still didn't work after waiting a day with the caps off drying, but pressing them repeatedly and waiting even longer worked for most of them. Some of them didn't work well, for a couple of weeks, but eventually started to work again. I presume there was a small amount of water in the switch where I could not easily access it to dry it off.

Don't give up hope! Pull off keycaps and try to dry it off as best as possible. It would suck to lose such an expensive (and nice) keyboard!

You sir, are a genius. I spilled freakin Iced Capp on it and i left it for like half an hour trying to figure out what to do with it (the keyboard wasn't working). I left it upside down overnight and it works fine this morning.

Interesting, I did something similar to my black widow...except it was a full glass of soda right into the key tray, I just took out all the keys and dabbed it down. Mine works fine except for occasional sticky keys that I clean out and they work fine. Fucking indestructible if you ask me...but good luck, sir.

Just because its working doesn't mean some sort of damage may have been done already. Just thought I'd point that out.
