I'm hyped that they pushed forward the release by a day even though I am not pre-ordering it. I want to hear how it turns out before I purchase it. |

Thanks! Am very interested how it will turn out. I'll probably still get it even if the port isn't the greatest, just a little worried about the gfwl. So many games releasing all at the same time though, and I didn't plan my budget ahead for it. :D

| Will most likely pick this up unless for some reason it happens to be unplayable. Will still wait till after release though. Also, just a heads up, it's cheaper on GMG than steam with the 20% discount for those who still want to preorder. |

I've personally never had an issue with GFWL, but apparently tons of people have issues with crashing etc. |

GfWL is very unstable and can mess around a lot with your games. For example in Dawn of War 2 for some people ( including me ) GfWL made the game unplayable in multiplayer because it simply would not let you connect to anyone.
also GfWL slows down patching immensely because every patch has to go through microsoft certification.Last edit: 2012-08-23 17:55:45 |

I found GfWL annoying till I realised how to change the default account name it set me, RIP FatterJaguar7. Although changing that messed up with some of my saves but I think fixing it was simple enough as moving saves to different folder or something.
In any case I haven't had any real issues with it. Although I don't think I played any multiplayer games on it. |

There are no "puzzles" or whatever. But... Every boss/enemy is a riddle. Every serious enemy has mechanics that you need to figure out pretty well or they will beat the shit out of you. The difficulty is not in gear checks, people have beaten the whole game naked. It's purely in knowledge and intelligent play. Your first playthrough you will die a lot, as referenced by the name. And subsequent playthroughs you will surprise even yourself at how much quicker and painlessly you can get through the same parts.Last edit: 2012-08-23 21:13:30 |

The thing with gfwl, when it works it's tolerable but when it doesn't it's a pain in the ass but I wouldn't really worry too much about it. I've had some annoying issues with it (troubles with starting a game and buggy menus) but once I got it up and running you can usually blissfully ignore it. |

i think it can't be worst that the ps3 version. Is so much graphic lag and shit, disapointment. I'm pumped for the pc version.

About the port, really? The ps3 is pretty deprecated nowadays, pc owns balls againts any console in terms of hardware. Even putting the same game at the pc it will run sooo much smooth, only this already worth my money. Pick Pyromancer, game is easy mode with him.
Just a forewarning to all people here. Dark Souls PC is a DIRECT PORT. This port was done quickly because FromSoft saw the demand for a Dark Souls PC version from the community. There was no way for them to redo the internals of the game. Remember, Dark Souls was originally meant for the PS3, but was also redesigned for the 360 (and we can see that the 360 version of Dark Souls has alot of issues already like having to deal with areas with volumetric fog, etc.)
The familiarity of From Software with the PS3 means that you will be playing at the same internal resolution as the consoles, just upscaled. You will also be running only at 30 frames, just like the consoles. That being said, the stronger hardware on virtually every decent PC will outperform the PS3/360 significantly, meaning that the performance of Dark Souls is much better on the PC. In my opinion, there's no reason to play the game if you're going to use a guide. The whole fun of the game is getting your ass kicked at first, figuring stuff out for yourself, and then getting better and killing stuff that owned you before. At least for your first playthrough, you should avoid ANYTHING that will spoil that experience for you. Your first playthrough is the most fun, because you're going up against the unknown. Once you've done it all, playing through it again isn't nearly as exciting, challenging, or rewarding, so you really don't want that first experience ruined. |

The only thing I let myself read was the dark souls wiki about classes. Until yesterday I didn't even know the game had classes! I don't read anything console related and the limited screenshots/vids I've seen of hte game always showed a sword and board knight looking guy.
I can't decide which class I want to play first yet, it's so hard to pick! |
