I don't get the reasoning why having to win 2 boX makes it a bad final... You can treat it as 3 BoX series with the winner 1 up.
It is like saying game 2 of a best of 3 is anti climatic because the winner of game 1 only has to win 1 more game while the loser has to win 2... |

Yeah, but I think what he's getting at is that the fairness of giving the WB winner an advantage should be reconsidered because it makes for a poor finals. Having both players start off fresh and having only one bo5 would make for a better final than two bo5, even though it is less 'fair'.
It's a lot less fair and I don't think that it's worth making that kind of sacrifice for a more even final. This is a crux of double elimination, but you can't just give everyone a shot at double elimination except for the player who performed the best in the tournament. If you don't want the double Bo5 finals then I'm fine with single elimination tournaments but I absolutely do not agree with removing double elimination at the last minute just to force a closer final.
the advantage is that you played a dozen less games and makes the finals more interesting.
The disadvantage is that it's not fucking fair to the winner's bracket finalist who only gets to drop one series while everyone else in the tournament gets to drop two. That's a pretty big fucking disadvantage. If it wasn't double elimination, Alive would have potentially won already.
Look guys, if your going to bash on having two sets for player coming from losers to win, don't cite that it is not UNFAIR because it is FAIR. Instead, bash the fact that dual-elimination brackets suck major ass spectators. Dual-elimination is FAIR (MLG is the only one that botches this with extended) and is easier to organize events with open brackets. However, it doesn't bring the hype like a single-elimination does.
It was IGN's fault for trying to be more like MLG instead of NASL or more importantly established Korean leagues.
