Hi wanted to ask if it is possible to hide the current poll results until you voted or clicked a button "show results".
I think the users are affected by the showing of the results. |

| I support an option for this, but don't see a real dire need for it. |

Dammit I lost to Torte this time but anyway.
I agree ! Especially in the ESPORTS bracket a few weeks ago. I kept trying to look at the option without seeing the results first but wasn't hugely successful. It feels like the "dont show results until you vote/click a button" is super standard across the entire internet, even on the front page TL poll. |

TL forum polls aren't exactly some kind of solid scientific test, literally anyone can vote and if you have a separate device or IP you can vote multiple times. Honestly I don't see why this makes a difference.
If it results in less polls, that would be a good thing too IMO. |

When reading the OP, my first instinct was to agree. Then I considered some ramifications of this change.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but on the other side of the argument wouldn't this ruin recommended game polls? I only check them if I am considering whether to watch a game or not.
Also, there are some polls I really do not know enough about to want to vote. I still want to see opinions, but do not personally know how I feel about said issue or game or whatever it happens to be. Look to the recent TL poll about "which mobile device do you own?" I owned none of the options and there was no "none of the above."
I suppose a "view poll results" option could be included but then it's just getting complicated.

Have the option when you set up the poll for the results to be visibile pre-vote or not.
Have the default be not. |

I strongly agree with this. You should not be able to look at the current standing. Voting is to gather and then at the end check everything. It's not the same as a tally. You should never be able to see the standing or it's not voting anymore. Keep in mind when you have elections, everything you hear until the actual results becomes known are based on statistics. Estimations. Which is not the same as a tally. The tally is the actual, real representation. The estimation is an approximation based on probability.
I would like to add as a suggestion that when there is a show vote option instead of voting. Using this option also uses up your voting right for that poll. With a pop-up to warn the user before continuing. Making him/her aware he is giving up his vote, should he/she choose to continue.
I would almost make a new thread but I will add it here since it's also to do with the polls.
Different suggestion: add blanco vote.
Add the option "blanco vote" to every poll. You can make it seem smaller, and have it be a seperate "tally" rather than counting it in with the votes. Or making this a toggleble option. When you look at the votes you can click to include and uninclude it as you like to see the differences or pick the one you prefer.
The reason for the blanco vote and why I think it should be an automatic/default option to every single poll that gets created. It allows the voter to vote against the voting process. We continously see the most terrible polls. This allows the voter to say your poll is bad.
I find the topic very interesting and would strongly recommend googling a bit and reading up about this blanco vote. Since we use it here in the kingdom of the netherlands I almost see it as a "right". something mandatory that must be included.
But to also give an example.
If a poll is bad. I choose not to vote in it, or pick the dumbest least popular option to purposely delude it. Someone else may choose to vote in it.
If a poll has bad options it can be hard to find a suitable one. One person might then choose something, the other something else, another will not vote at all. This creates an inconsistency and makes the poll deluded. In the case where a blanco vote is available all three would have most likely picked blanco, (if they didn't then they actually would agree with one of the options, which is a contradiction since we are talking about voters that don't agree with any of the options). Instead of some random result that would be hard to interpret, it would show a clear sign of multiple people not agreeing with the poll or the way this has been conducted.
There is an endless stream of bad polls. I think this is arguably the best way to allow anyone to not get upset, delude the actual poll and or negate their terribleness.
Please consider and in any case read up a little if it's unknown, in my opinion it's a valuable concept .
+ Show Spoiler + I don't want to make a new thread. I will check in a couple days to see if this hasn't gone unnoticed. If it has I will extract the blanco vote point and post it as a new thread in the feedback section.

I support this. Simple, versatile, works for everyone.
Although I'd rather the default be "visible", as it is the usual behavior on the site right now. Let the poll creators determine it. |

I like the idea as well, but I disagree with you - I think default should be hidden and you have to unhide it. I feel like that should be the same for the SC2 spoilers as well but w/e.
