I recorded all the IPL4 tournament data for Champion Bans and picks then sorted it by the number of times a champion was banned + played (*). In total, there were 34 games played by some of the best teams in the world playing seriously for a good deal of money.
This should give you an idea of what characters the pros think are Ban-worthy and highly desired to play. Teams that went further obviously played more matches and their personal ban/play preferences naturally got more weight due to more games. Also note that this doesn't necessarily mean that a character is OP/UP, it only means that they were used as part of a specific strategy or banned to prevent a specific strategy. However, it should give you some idea of which characters you'd want to ban/play/avoid in competitive games.

Interesting things to note:
- Shen was banned the 2nd most (behind Udyr), but was only played 50% of the time he was available.
- Janna was the most popular character overall, only being ignored in one game. Yet, Janna was only banned 6 times.
- Compared to this graph + Show Spoiler + by "57 Corvette" who polled reddit, the pros seem to disagree in many cases. Shaco(#1 banned), Kassadin(#3), and Rammus(#4) were never played/banned by the IPL4 pros (Did the tournament itself ban any characters?).
*Unfortunately, when grabbing the data, it looks like I messed up and managed to put some bans in the "Played" category (12 extra "played" and 12 missing "banned" characters). I don't feel like going back and finding the errors, but the numbers should be very close to accurate, and the totals for each character should still be good.

I like how Sona went from the top picked champion at Kiev out of all champions regardless of role, to only being picked 3 times in a role that only has a pool of about 7 champs.
The sad part is they will probably just nerf janna and sorraka again rather then buff the ones that have been nerfed into the ground. |

i am flabbergasted at 0 ww bans/picks, is that correct?
one time after playing against IGI (EHomda and crew) they imparted the wisdom onto me that warwick is a direct counter to kog, because kog is so positioning-based and warwick destroys careful positioning. i suppose the triple support can alleviate that, but it would have seemed that he'd be a soild pick against those kind of comps IMO |

| Just happy to see Vayne get some play time even if they were all only from one player, since her nerfing awhile back I can't even remember the last time I saw a Vayne played in solo Q that wasn't me. |

Having no on demand escape (your opponent being low health for speedboost is way too conditional) and the current focus of teams on ganking toplane/mid mostly leads to a horrible laning phase for warwick.
