I decided to record my ladder matches from the previous 2 days and upload them to youtube. I'm currently a 34-8 player (80% win rate) and around top 20. As I can no longer make the top 3 for a cash prize, I thought I'd share so that others can see what the current play on the ladder is like. Note that all decks are limited to 300 DP. Included below are 13 matches (one match the recording got messed up on) with some light editing to remove some of the waiting delays. Enjoy.

thanks very useful :o

can you by any chance post a decklist?

Blue Cross = the level 3 Crux Blue Cross card.

Additionally, my deck is far from the strongest type in the end. It is a mid-tier deck at best but this game's design makes it hard to just up and change decks / factions easily.

I think a small "beginner's guide" might be useful. Telling people to do certain quests, saying which dungeons they should start going through, and what they should/shouldn't spend tokens on can't hurt.

I really like the game and had fun playing it the last few days (its strangely hypnotic), but I think tokens (and as such, paying) is too essential. Without paying, the amount of grinding required is ridiculous, especially with things like weekly transmutes and certain materials being more rare.

Was fun while it lasted, but I think I rather waste my time more efficiently in other games.

Yeah I was playing this game then I realized there's no actual skill to this game, you're at the mercy of the AI and you can't really control when/who your cards attack - It eliminates the skill from the game as you can't rely on a deck if you require a certain combo or focus firing/tanking of certain cards etc.

Might as well just make a deck of the 30 hottest cards and just stare at them all day xd

It takes a certain level of skill in order to create a deck and play a deck such that you minimize the chances of you losing. Of course, sometimes, things will just not go your way; however, being able to take what certainties you can from an uncertain situation takes a bit of thinking. Considering every possible outcome and what your best move is based on those outcomes is a common theme in every card game. This game approaches it differently and the "luck" may seem more apparent in this game than others, but that doesn't mean it takes no skill to do well in this game. It's no different than playing Wind-Ups in Yugioh and relying only on the Hunter Loop to win games; you need to do what you can to take a situation and make the best of it.

I wholeheartedly agree with the last statement, though.

I don't really see how it's that much different than other card games. If you start with 2 land and get no land cards for 5 turns in MTG you are pretty much fucked too. Yeah sometimes it sucks when you just get rnged hard especially with the way coinflip / spells can turn out but you still at least have the order in which you play the cards and which slot they will be in to do.
Sometimes it makes sense to hold back on spells and play all follower to finish off weak enemy followers too.(since spells are always casted first) You still get to make some choices / mistakes are still possible.

I think the fact that you can target in games like MTG gives the illusion of control, but there's always typically one best course of action to do that you make based on limited information. However it's usually not that hard to play a "perfect"(no mistakes) game of MTG. If anything with the way a lot of the cards work with slots / your hand and the 30 second timer you have to be more aware/it's easier to make mistakes so requires more "skill" to avoid them. Not like trying to defend it hardcore, just saying I don't think it's that different from other card games. Unless you are Yugimoto and believe in the heart of the cards you'll always be at the mercy of RNG in card games. It's like complaining you realized poker has too much RNG and therefore is no longer fun. The whole collecting / upgrading is part of the allure of card games imo so if you aren't into that I can understand why you wouldn't like it though.

There is no point. It doesn't matter that most other TCG's are highskill in comparison to swordgirls, but it's pretty stupid to say that sword girls is as if not more skill intensive than MTG.

I only started playing a few days ago and I have to agree with this. I find that by building a good deck u minimize the amount that luck factors into the game. Playing cards in the right positions and knowing when to play what is also key to success. Smart players will eliminate as much luck from the game as possible. Yes you can loose because of the AI letting one follower live over another but spells help with this. A good mixture will lead you to victory, it is the same in any other card game it is just more aparent here because once the cards are laid down you are no longer in control.

Quite a fun game. I like the automated nature of things. I can multitask and do work while playing. I'm annoyed that I blew all my tokens buying the crappy dungeon cards after every level of the first dungeon.

Cards being so difficult to get really kills the fun in this game. I could see this being much more enjoyable if there were just more cards and they were easier to get.

What the fuck.... I've failed my upgrade 13 times in a row now. It's a level 1 upgrade just trying to get the 50 token and ore bundle.
