I think Alive is great but there's just something about his personality that doesn't make me a fan of his. I'm not saying I dislike him, im more neutral. He has like a stone face and shows no emotions win or lose. His standard play doesn't help but whatever, it's working out great for him. You can''t really change who you are.

Boring players don't hurt eSports but they don't bring more fans over either IMHO.
Lots of boring players through history were some of the greatest ever in real sports, aLive is in the company of these guys.

Tennis had Bjorn Borg and Federer isn't the most outrageous guy but a good dude and all time great.
Baseball has Jim Thome if you look at his stats he's one of the best power hitters ever but low on personality to the point of not having many fans outside of Minnesota.
Basketball with John Stockton one of the best ever but very boring.

Guys just go to work everyday with absolute professionalism, Alive is like these guys, he is a great macro player who is a beast against Protoss which is commendable as Terran is getting torn apart by Protoss lately.

BTW I had a RL argument close to what you guys are having with my brother. I love MC and he was outraged that I would feel like aLive was making Ironsquid suck LOL. What can I say MC would be so much fun interacting with the casters and the fans and aLive seems shy. To me aLive winning Ironsquid would just be so blase'

But its stupid to say aLive is hurting eSports, he can actually be a villain if he takes out enough fan favorites.

im agreeing with you except hurting esports part :D

aLive isnt a interesting player, just another solid terran.

I disagree 100%, These last months aLive has clearly stepped his game up and i enjoy his play,

Not all of us loves MC either. Shame no other Protoss players are left though =/

he is not stepped his game up, just started to making more 1 base pushes.

other than, he is a robot and isnt interesting at all

LOL That's so far from the truth why do you just shit on every thread with your bias.

The medivac timing from MMA will probably send 4 hellions out on the map while PuMa is pushing, if he can defend this, he's in a good position but with delaying his CC he cannot afford to take any more economy losses.

it is?

im not only one saying this.

May wanna google fallacy... aLive got to where he is on the scene by strong macro oriented play, he is one of the only Terran in the world that can beat Protoss consistently in the late game. His TvT and TvZ play generally consists of multitasking heavy drop play while continuing to macro up and win with superior decision making and positioning. 1 base lol.

aLive's TvP isnt even top 3, also his TvZ isnt that great if you watched his GSL games/last games

about his TvT, he is a good TvT macro player but using 1 base all-ins very often.

He must be a good macro player, but he is a robot, another uninteresting Korean terran.

What does 'robot' mean? Good mechanics?

How is anyone who plays standard not a robot. Idra would be the robot king. Naniwa a close second. Alive varies his play way more than a lot of players.

We can say it clearly : He's as funny as a jail's door. He's awesome, but he's far from a show man. That's why he's not famous.

IdrA is a robot as well, even PuMa said at NASL S2 finals "he is always playing same style and never change it."

if you watch players like Polt, MMA, MKP, all of them have such a amazing micro and unique style.

but aLive is just another standart Korean terran, 1 base all in or standard macro play, which is make him uninteresting.

Eh, I gotta disagree. I love polt, but after watching his stream and his tournament games, he plays really, really standard. I see him do about 2 builds per MU, and thats it, but he still kicks ass.

do you think why peoples calling him as "MarauderKing"?

and why peoples calling aLive as "captain boring"

Because people are stupid and most people who watch SC2 can't play it worth a damn and don't know what is going on.

Because the market is oversaturated with terrans already, and unless you're indisputably the best, there's no real reason to prefer alive over say... MMA. The other popular terrans all have stylistic playstyles, but Alive is about as standard as they come. Bomber is famous for his macro, MVP for his mech and late game play, MMA for his multitasking, Marineking and Polt for their micro. Also, has Alive ever really given off a memorable series?

Actually, most of us don't know much about aLive, and from the little that we do know, we think he is emotionless. I hope Fnatic does try to promote aLive a bit more personality-wise, considering that he is their top SC2 player. He doesn't even have to be a showman like MC. Liquid Hero has what seems to be a pretty shy personality, but Liquid did a good job promoting him, and he is very popular in the community. The same could be done with aLive I think

I guess I don't even know what we're arguing about. Alive is really, really good. That's why I like to watch him play. It's not like I don't watch someone's matches unless they are #1.

it is?

im not only one saying this.

Polt is such a interesting player, TvP, TvT even TvZ very unique due his unit control.

do you think why peoples calling him as "MarauderKing"?

and why peoples calling aLive as "captain boring"

Because people are stupid and most people who watch SC2 can't play it worth a damn and don't know what is going on.

LOL That's so far from the truth why do you just shit on every thread with your bias.

The medivac timing from MMA will probably send 4 hellions out on the map while PuMa is pushing, if he can defend this, he's in a good position but with delaying his CC he cannot afford to take any more economy losses.

I like to watch games played by very good players. Alive is very good, so I enjoy watching him play.

It sounds like you enjoy watching games by players who aren't necessarily the best, but are unpredictable or have eccentric personalities out of the game. Thats cool too.

Does that sum it up?

Every person has a personality, Alive just puts in a lot of effort to remain a blank slate. I don't know why he does it: people want to see players humanized. Maybe Fnatic could do a video series like GSL did with MarineKing?

I just think one crazy series from Alive will totally change peoples views of him. Its just a shame he isn't the type of player to give us a crazy series.
Yes he wins, and yes he is a great player, but he isn't memorable in the way other players are.
