Complaints about moderation and freedom of speech are for the website feedback forums. They will be treated as being off topic and dealt with appropriately.
No more Iron Lady talk, no more gender debate. This is a thread about a StarCraft player. Last I checked what's in between your legs has no impact on how you play the game.
I agree with some of the comments here that the moderation on this thread has been dreadful. It's way too soft. I have gone ahead and simply deleted a bunch of comments that fail TL's community standards. Yes, those standards are determined by the mods. Yes, those standards are not perfect nor even uniformly applied. But we try our best. Spare us your righteous indignation over any notional impairment of free speech. This is a private site. It's a club. There is no "right" to free speech here. We only tolerate quality speech. By who's standards? Ours. Go read the TL Ten Commandments. And if you don't like this policy or our way of running our house, leave. - mensrea

| The people in here making immature remarks need to realize nobody gives a flying fuck about your opinions, your embarrassing all of e-sports coming in here with medieval hate and nobody wants to read the bull crap you throw on your keyboard... take your insults to another forum because your wasting your own and the mods time. |

| I can't wait to see her at MLG Anaheim. Her better games had better at least be on the premium streams. I love these underdog stories. I get way more excited than I should. |

In my world of mixed martial arts, a transgender would not get away with entering (and automatically winning) a WMMA contest. They would perform a simple epitestosterone level check, and the transgender would fail that test. I would imagine Scarlett failing a epitestosterone test as well.
I'm only bringing this up to point out that the second place finisher of the Iron Lady tournament is probably the true winner.

why is this guy got banned?does he insult any1 or there's no more freedom of speech in TL. such a shame
Its off-topic, the mods warned about it. Also its a general guideline of TL to keep it ontopic. If you make a dedicated post about the transgender issue @ the ironlady tournament it probably wouldn't be a problem. |

Because it's a stupid post. Go ask any of the organizers and participants to the Iron Lady tournaments (who were informed of Scarlett's situation) if they feel robbed of a first place. I'll guarantee you there won't be anyone there that thinks this is some sort of outrage. In any case, you should take this up at website feedback, or PM a mob and not derail discussion here. Cause it has nothing to do with the post? This isnt a thread about female vs male competition. Its a thread about scrarlet joining Eclypsia. Last edit: 2012-04-20 19:00:03 |

Oh sorry for calling Desrow good.
LMAO best followup. Anyways, people here would benefit from a gender studies class. Men, women, and everything in between is all a matter of a few hormones. We're all the same people, and some are born into the wrong body. Yes, it's great to see girls kicking ass because culturally they're just not playing competitively.scarlett and msspyte are showing great promise.
The structural differences of the male/female brain origin in genetic difference, which is existent of course.
We exaggerate those differences to abuse the perceived advantages of being men. You're just a few hormone injections away from growing boobs and losing your upper-body strength. Your male parts are just a rearrangement of the female parts triggered by androgen exposure in the womb. In some cases, a genetic male will be insensitive to androgen and develop a completely anatomical female body, that is an XY woman \. A genetic male in a woman's body. That is just one example of all the little nuances that go on in sexual development. We all play a genetic lotttery and don't choose what we're born with. Racism, sexism, and heteronormative bias are all just cases where we pretend to be virtuous in being a "real man" or a woman or certain race, all things that we didn't choose and it's a disgrace to call it "normal" in order to exclude others from happiness. Did you know that in Brazil the government is now required to cover sex change operations under health care? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20323334/ns/health-health_care/t/brazil-provide-free-sex-change-operations/#.T41zVtWQOP1
I am not talking about sex change or hormons. The source of your congnitive abilities lies in the brain. The way neural connections are developed in the first years of the human life is decoded in DNA. You can't really change that fundamentally by injecting hormons when your brain is already developed to a large extent.
It is entirely correct to say that your cognitive abilities = your brain, and that most of you neural connections are most rapidly developed in your first years of life. It is then also relatively correct to say that much of this has to do with your DNA. However it becomes much less relatively correct to cite that the difference in male/female brains solely leads to cultural professional trends (few girls play starcraft professionally, referring to snoodles' comment). The genetic variation between female and male brains exist, of course, but there are also tons of genetic variation between any two peoples' brains, whether same or different gender. Other factors (environment, etc.) play an important part on your brain too, creating even more variation, because our brains adjust to our perceived learning, too. And so to get somewhat more on topic; in the end, Scarlett's commitment to hard-work/ practice / learning will be what earns her more respect (or less).
I was drawn into this thread when I learned she was dubbed "korean kryptonite" by the ign's brief summary of ipl. Just awesome. |

His post was sort of on topic if you ask me. And he raises a valid point (I am just looking from the other side of the fence here).
To calrify I for one SUPPORT THIS and her ability to play in iron lady (this is not a physical competition where I could see there being a difference) and I wish Scarlett the best of luck! Enjoyed watching her games at IPL!! Will be rooting for her at MLG Ana. :D |

Why would they feel robbed?
There seems to be something I'm missing here, did she cheat or something or did her adversary not attend the finals?
Pardon my ignorance, that's the first time I'm reading about her and I haven't seen the Iron Lady Tournament.
€: Nevermind, it's clear now!
Congrats on the team pickup, some of the results are pretty impressive, though it must feel weird being amongst the first progamers who are being beaten by a girl.Last edit: 2012-04-20 19:00:45 |

the idea that men are inherently better at video games is retarded. men are often physically stronger, which is why in football, rugby etc they dont play with women. but unless your using a 5 kg mouse and keys with car suspension springs, its not a factor in esports. if you think it through logically, the chance of any one being really good at sc2 is tiny, and then if you multiply that number by the fraction of sc2 player who are girls, youll see why there are no code s girls. this thread is just full of people who wish they were good enough to be picked up by eclypsia, and because they aren't, they are jealous that someone else is, and are trying to convince themselves that it is in someway unfair. if any of them had beaten terious(? i am confused as to which one he actaully is), ddro, demu, or even taken one game off Oz, then they might have a point. but obviously, they havent
