Has anyone else been experiencing intermittent FPS issues with FRAPS lately?

Recently I have been experiencing issues with my FRAPS while recording replays. I've seen Psy and Husky experience similar FPS issues in their recent videos and wonder if there is a connection (is this an issue with the current version of FRAPS)

In the past, I was able to record with the FPS set to 29.97 and RARELY came across any lag issues. Now I experience some form of lag in every video. I have lowered the FPS to 26.97 to alleviate these issues without compromising the visuals too much, but I am still experiencing interemittent lag issues. When I record with FRAPS, I always record with Ultra Graphics and Physics settings.

My current computer specs:

Does anyone have any idea what is causing this? Is my gpu frying? Is there a memory issue? FYI the HDD is 7200rpm, the RAM is DDR3 1333, and YES I have cleaned my computer (MoBo, all fans, ect.) recently. My rig is 1.5 years old.

I do not believe that this is a map issue because maps like Antiga and Shakuras, historically fine, are not safe from these issues.

Sorry if there is another thread about this already, I wasn't able to find an exact match in the search.

Your hard drive is probably fragmented or otherwise old / dying and unable to keep up with the write demand of uncompressed video. You ideally need a RAID-0 setup for doing uncompressed video work.

If that's the case, would getting an SSD for FRAPS/SC2 alleviate these issues or am I better off just reconfiguring the RAID setup? I was considering getting an SSD in the near future anyways.

I'd be surprised if this was an fragmentation or dying HDD issue. I defrag at least once a month and the HDD is only 1.5 years old.
