Goofy question, but where is the mouse pointer in the videos? Reason I ask is that I'm trying to switch to the larvae inject method talked about in the first zerg video (8:28). Right now I have all of my hatcheries on '3', main queen on '4', natural queen on '5' and so on. That way I can switch between bases easily and see where my energy is at on each queen.
Doing it with the method mentioned on the video, I'm not sure exactly how it's done, especially with more than two bases later on (that's why I was also trying to figure out with the mouse pointer). I'm guessing hit '5' (selects all queens), click 'V' and hold 'Shift' and click on each of the hatcheries on the minimap? Requirements would of course be to have at least one queen per hatchery. But my main question is if there is any way to check your remaining larvae hatch time and/or queen energy quickly without being at your base? |

This looks great! Is the 14-minute maxout applicable for zergies as well?
I think I'll go for it regardless! :D |

Oke, platinium terran here - just had a game, - 57 scvs at 12.30, 2 supply blocks wich prevented me to get that 65. - 10 rax, 2-1 nearly done at 14min - lost about 40 supply with my combat/stim timing attacks and got 141 supply at 14 min mark, where my opponent had 84.
this game felt absolutely stupidly easy compared to some other games wich i just observed. where my scv count was way lower and my production far less. thanks alot for these guides, really helping me out alot. heck i even would say this gives me back alot off motivation to keep trying after being in quite a slump. |

Just saw ret max out at 12~ min mark at MLG Spring Arena. Lots of roaches tho, but 14 min max out for zerg is for sure possible. |

To give you guys an idea of where I am, I was a platinum zerg and recently got demoted (aka 'reclassified') to gold. So I decided to step back and reassess where I am. I noticed that I'm not droning enough in so many cases. So I stumbled upon this thread and found these benchmarks that are so helpful and I decided to strive for them and journal my progress.
I'll post some of my last matches and break down where I struggled. Hopefully this will help some other folks who are around my level with areas they are also having trouble with. I try to follow Filter's first two guides as much as possible but had to improvise when I got early harrassment (and when I got past mid game, I just added another hatch). I failed most when Zerg was my opponent. Also, if you see areas that I could have improved (that I didn't realize I messed up) please let me know.
For Reference (from Filter's youtube page):
Quick Reference Benchmarks 35 Drones (Including ones in production) @6 minutes 55 Drones (Including ones in production) @8 minutes 10 Combined Queen Energy @10 minutes (After next injects for each queen)
Non Essential Stuff (Don't benchmark this stuff yet, but it will help you execute properly) 14 Pool 15 Hatch 1 Pair of Lings Quad gas @ 6minutes Roach Warren @ 7minutes (Or before to block hellions) Double Evo @ 7minutes (Or before to block hellions)
Practice game to test my benchmarks:
37 drones @ 6 minutes 55 drones @ 8 minutes 3 combined Queen Energy @ 10 minutes
Woohoo, felt pretty good...but then it gets different during games.
1st Game: http://drop.sc/183325 ZvZ Win
My Stats: 24 + (6 drones in production) = 30 @ 6 minutes 48 @ 8 minutes 14 combined Queen Energy @ 10 minutes
Opponent's Stats: 27 @ 6 minutes 38 @ 8 minutes
Mistakes: -Did not transfer drones quick enough to natural -Supply blocked at 28, this really hurt my drone count -Started Lair too late -Started Carapace upgrade late
Opponent starts to send burrowed infestors at 11:00 and attacks my main mineral line at 11:45 and natural a few moments later. I had not built detection yet but was able to move my drones to take minimal damage. I'm so much ahead in supply though that I just take my roaches down and kill him. I was worried at first because I saw so many infestors and he got quite a few fungals off but I had so many more roaches that I was able to still win.
2nd Game: http://drop.sc/183326 ZvZ (overwhelmed with speedlings) Loss
This match my opponent overwhelmed me with speedlings as my natural was completing. Thinking back, as soon as I saw him grab gas I should have as well, maybe have a few banelings to hold off the early aggression while droning up. I didn't do a benchmark since as soon as my natural was done it turned to panic mode.
3rd Game: http://drop.sc/183327 ZvP (probe blocks natural with pylon) Win
My Stats: 27 @ 6 minutes 42 @ 8 minutes 60 @ 10 minutes 40 combined Queen Energy (between 3 queens) @ 10 minutes...ouch
Opponent's Stats: 24 @ 6 minutes 29 @ 8 minutes 32 @ 10 minutes
First mistake is that I didn't use two drones to stop the probe from blocking my natural. Because of this, I strayed a bit from the guide and threw down a quicker third to hopefully 'catch up' with the drone count. I ended up getting my natural down at 4:11 and my third at 4:44. In addition, I goofed up and made six zerglings instead of two to kill the pylon.
Also ended up placing my roach den and evo chambers about 20 seconds late in addition to starting my Lair way late (that blocking pylon really thrww off my timing). I knew I still needed more drones so I kept making them til about the 10 minute mark.
Opponent starts his third about the 10 minute mark and has an observer at my base and knows that I'm going roaches so he pops down another robo bay. By the time I engage he has five immortals out with more on the way. But because of the drone count I have enough roaches that it doesn't matter.
Looking back I didn't really get harassed but that early probe really threw me off, so got to keep working on this aspect.
4th Game: http://drop.sc/183328 ZvP (Protoss early harass) Win
My Stats: 25 @ 6 minutes 33 @ 8 minutes 32 @ 10 minutes 62 combined Queen Energy @ 10 minutes...harassment killed me in this area
Opponent's Stats: 19 @ 6 minutes 20 @ 8 minutes 30 @ 10 minutes
This one is a doozy because my natural starts getting harassed at 4:23 with one zealot and then two. I didn't want to panic and make too many zerglings so I tried to hold them off the best I could with my queens and drones/spine crawlers. Didn't do the greatest but felt I would hold it off and still made drones instead. Well, he wasn't done and two zealots and a stalker bypassed my natural (with spines) and went to my main...ugh. I wanted to quit but I kept forging ahead. But through all of this I still managed to squeek out some more drones, and I had to use them to defend!!
He ended up expanding and having the same drone count but not enough production facilities to take on my roaches.
5th Game: http://drop.sc/183329 ZvP (Protoss with drops and lots of immortals) Win
My Stats: 36 @ 6 minutes (finally back to something respectable) 48 @ 8 minutes (slacking) 19 Queen Energy @ first one died to a drop
Opponent's Stats: 25 @ 6 minutes 27 @ 8 minutes
He sneaks a warp prism into my main while engaging at my natural with some other units. I'm able to hold them off but do take some losses, one of them being my queen at my main. I counter with my roaches at his natural but he is ready with quite a few immortals. I take some losses but retreat to try and regroup. But because of my drone count compared to his, I'm able to crank out a lot more units and win easily.
---
Looking back, my production falls drastically when attacked early. On previous games before following this guide I would drone scout at 9 food and harass SCVs and probes. Now I am concentrating more on getting that early supply going. I'm 'decent' when not attacked but fall flat on my face under any kind of pressure. But with these benchmarks I have a lot of goals to work toward. Going to have to adjust how I handle early zerg pressure as well.
Thanks Filter for the great tutorials and the way you handle yourself. It's nice seeing such a well mannered player and because of this your tutorials are easy and enjoyable to watch. |

| This has been a huge help in improving my gameplay. Its the first tut I've seen that bridges between the simple steps of sc2 to the complex processes. Where I'm just now in silver, I was in low bronze and now am only playing against gold and plat. Thanks so much! |

Kiwi: I've seen that style, but it typically involves an early third, right? Focusing on 2-base aggression for now. I almost feel like every build/race needs its own benchmarks - I had 10 minute benchmarks, but the thread made me realize that I really need to have 15-minute, 20-minute, 25-minute benchmarks... |

Focusing more on macro and that early economy has helped me win 9 of my last 10 games. Woohoo.

On a ZvZ I lost most of my drones at my natural to early ling/baneling aggression but reloaded with drones and attacked at the normal timing and still able to win. Thanks again Filterstarcraft. |

| Just wanted to say thanks for the guides. It's weird consistently beating gold/plat players with just the bronze "builds" for both terran and zerg. I'm usually a protoss player, but this has definitely helped speed up the process of learning the other 2 races. |

Somebody please tell me what God-awefull ladder you guys play on, because doing this stuff is just straight auto-loss on mine. How is it that this guy's oppenents in any league *never* all-in with baneling busts, or reaper pushes, and just let him macro like a champ, while simultaneously doing nothing.
Doing this stuff for me is hilarious, as I sit and watch my marines chase - in vain - Reapers that completely crush my SCVs, get totally wiped by a massive wave of Banelings...it's just ridiculous. |

Straight auto-loss? Umm, no. You will lose a lot to all sorts of cheesy and all-in plays, but in the long run your playing will profit from this if you do it right.
Maybe post some replays to see if there's stuff that went wrong?

I've been following this guide for about 4 days now and my play has increased pretty significantly, I had taken quite a bit of time off from the game thanks to Dota 2 and other stuff, but when I started playing again I was awful and most of it was because I had no build order or goals to work towards. Now I have a build that I've practiced over the last 30 or so games and my w/l has increased a lot, and more importantly I feel like I'm improving with every game.
I even ran into someone today in a TvT that was also following the guide who said it has helped him improve as well. Definately recommend this to anyone.
Although I do have massive trouble against baneling busts, even when I split my marines so none are standing close enough to each other to take AoE damage as I build them and behind the bunker and depot wall I just get owned by it. |

If you scout or suspect banelings I would suggest going for siege tanks instead of having double medivacs at 10:00. |

Worked my way up from Low Silver to Top Gold EU Zerg and Terran. What race are you, and are you hitting the benchmarks provided? |
