I won't be surprised if (Z)Juni turns out to be sc2 bonjwa and roll every one in the competition . We all would be happy with that kind of result isn't it ;D .

You only hate us because you don't understand us. Many people are misguided because they think they understand our feelings, motives and history entirely and that we are wrong about ourselves and many other things. In fact, you do not understand us, and as such judge us harshly and wrongly. After all that, saying you're happy that we're all genuinely unhappy about our game being damaged and diminished, is cruel and unnecessary, not to mention incredibly self-satisfied. We're actually people you know, who are having something we love constantly pummelled by things which we thought would never work against the scene.

Well, there's a huge problem with that mentality because BW is very arguably the best spectator RTS and has been for the longest time and had the highest relevance for the longest period. There's a difference from stating a simple fact and being elitist with no logical justification. Ofcourse there are parts of the community that will choose to be elitist or personally biased for all sorts of reasons and those people do exist in the BW community as well, but saying that the BW era coming to an end is good on the esports side of things is just... unfounded. Are you seriously saying that just because it supposedly upsets a minority group of spectators who are elitists that its worth an entire scene dying? That's like saying wanting basketball to die just because you don't like elitist basketball fans, and that this is somehow good for professional sports.

The way SC2 has been designed from the ground up stands against everything I believe in. Hopefully BW never goes away!
Everyday I thank God I escaped from the Starcraft universe when I did. Saved so many hours of my life.

That what was bothering for a while, maybe all BW fans are called here elitist as a hint of jealousy? I dont say there are no "elitist" here or in sc2 forum but coming to BW forum and calling everyone who is against an elitist is highly amusing. Its like telling your math teacher that he is elitist because he has facts and knowledge that back up his argument and i have only dreams and hopes. But my dreams are of higher magnitude !

Regarding Koreans and scene, and globalization called "future of starcraft 2". We can establish few things, BW like it or not was around for about 12 years, it had following even before Boxer turn around the whole thing. Hints of that are subtle but they are there. BW is Korean thingy, yes so will be SC2, even without the center which is KESPA scene is already slightly titled into Koreans after Kespa switches, after 2-3 years you will have only 1-2 decent tournaments in west.

Its hinted that MLG got OGN approval, everyone fights for BW connections because IT IS the center of Korean esports. GOM players will also do this believe it or not. Because Korean players will be so busy with their up and coming new leagues soon they will only have time for max 1-2 departures to west kinda like Blizzcon/WCG in BW. If now players will always prioritize GSL over MLG imagine in future, also the tournament that will get these "exclusives" will be the prominent one, there are many people among new SC2 fans that already switched into Korean followers after 1-2 years there will be numerous TBLS/TBLS-like followers and the tournament that will get them will be viewed as the only "true" one.

Kinda like MLG was superior to Dreamhack "game quality wise". So if you want your GLOBAL scene to rise you should avoid BW scene switching, otherwise you will have only 1 max 2 foreigners being relevant and others will be stuck at avoiding Koreans kinda like in BW. Now imagine that Dreamhack finals were Monster vs Polt, who is monster? Those "who is this b-teamer" will take those less prominent tournaments that will be the globalization of starcraft. I may be wrong as im not fortune teller. But everything hints toward that, the hidden layers aka legion of b-teamers who can take any foreigner in Korean scene are slowly, slowlyyy starting to show but it will hit the fan after Kespa switches and SC2 will become "popular" aka relevant in Korea. In 10 years rinse and repeat in SC3 topic about SC2 "elitists". ELI TITS or gtfo.

Ps. If you learned something about Korea and starcraft you should know that untill they dont conquer the starcraft world they won't settle. They can be funny, humble or charming, but they will destroy any white obstacles in Starcraft sooner or later.

Reading the comments regarding BW and SC2 argument, whose crowd started the bashing? BW fans, afraid that the game they love would eventually disappear, or SC2 fans, who never played/excelled in BW, defending their game because BW fans insists that BW is harder and better (which I think it is too even though I play SC2 more)?

Its usually some person will take a poke at SC2, then the SC2 person will reply back calling them elitest then the BW person will argue "You come into a BW thread what do you expect, etc..." At least that is what i have discovered.

I hope this is not the part where we start calling non-korean players in SC2 "foreigners" again once rosters are dominated solely by Koreans and foreigners go back to their TSL glory. This was obviously what happened before in BW and I feel it is once again inevitable. History will repeat itself I guess.

Maybe casuals should be more respectful. I dislike the Sc2 casual community so I kind of feel bad seeing our era coming to an end on the truly Esports side of things.

But this too could elude to the failure of SC2, i mean take IPL4 for example it was brutal to watch the minority of Koreans absolutely tear apart the foreigners. Not a single one made it through the open bracket, sure it was exciting to watch Squirtle make his way through to the finals but even Plexa made a blog post about "faceless Koreans". Basically if SC2 doesn't want the same fate as BW i would argue that foreigners need to get better.

I wasn't around for the pro-brood war scene, so I never really knew how excited it was to watch it, but I did play a lot of it 10 or so years ago and I loved it. It was really what got me into RTS games in general.

That being said, I'm sad that a lot of people will be leaving just because they don't think sc2 will be good as a professional sport. Of course, we can't be sure how deep and skillful the gameplay will get, but I'm always hopeful that with two more expansions promised, maybe they will find ways to make the skill ceiling higher. SC2 hasn't really had the time brood war had to evolve. Maybe there will be things people will find out that will start making SC2 less luck based and more skill based.

I had this theory for about 4 years now and I think now its finally coming true. In 10 years, we will have this phenomenon of bandwagoning onto the next new game, and because of fans or some other boost in longevity, it will last competitively for about 2 years then die out, then repeat. And we will call it "esports"
You see this with fighting games and fps games a lot. Very few still play super turbo compared to street fighter 4. Few play counterstrike or quake3arena compared to mw3. Few play bw compared to sc2. More people will play whatever commandandconquer game EALA shits out than the previous commandandconquer game.

how can esports achieve any form of legitimacy when the very games being played change every few years. with a career as a professional already so risky, fewer amateurs might be willing to take the leap if the game they've practiced for years could suddenly change.

True, IMO the only way that esports archive legitimacy is by keeping the core mechanics intact.
