Hey guys,

I have been wondering lately what sort of upgrades should be prioritised from the armory in TvT and TvZ. I understand that +1 vehicle weapons are quite important in both matchups, as it allows +1 carapace banelings to be killed in one shot and tanks to be killed in 2 shots instead of 3. However, beyond this I'm unsure what I should be getting. Do attack upgrades continue to have a significant effect beyond +1? Should I instead be focusing on armour upgrades to make my mech more durable? Or should I not even bother?

What about ship upgrades? In TvZ ships become quite important once broodlords start coming out, and I imagine that it would be worth upgrading them. But should I get attack upgrades or armour? Attack would allow vikings to kill broodlords and curruptors more effectively, but armour would help both vikings and medivacs, which might help prevent medivacs being as easily sniped by corruptors or queens. In TvT should I be getting any ship upgrades to help with air control in viking vs viking engagements?

In TvT it's very important (unless you're going pure bio) to have good tank attack upgrades as they help a LOT in the tank wars so you should definitely go for max tank attack upgrades first, I then like to go for air upgrades personally because it helps in the viking wars which can be nice. After just grab whatever you feel like, I'd be tempted to say the air defence upgrades are more useful than the ground ones because air dominance is so important in TvT. If you're going mech you should just go straight for 3/3 mech upgrades (double armory) then 3/3 air.

In TvZ i like to pretty much do the same thing, if you're mech go double armroy and rush 3/3 and if you're going marine tank I like to go 3/0 mech and then 3/0 air (after or during my 3/3 bio). The tank upgrades, while amazing forl 1 / 2 shotting zerglings / banelings the splash damage still increases so getting more tank upgrades is always relatively useful, especially if they're going roaches.

Then you just go for whatever's more useful at the time, I've never thought of adding another armory in TvZ but I can imagine it's probably quite useful.

There's a lot of Korean Terrans who like to go to 3/0 on their mech, so Thor became very powerfull in the late game.
Having atleast +1 for air is important in case of viking vs Corruptors/BLs wars.

TvZ - +1 Mech is mandatory. Allows any zergling to be one shotted. I mech in TvZ so I think just double upgrading is important and that you get ship upgrades after especially if you see brood lords.

To me, if you're going mech why bother choosing? I always drop a second armory and research both at the same time. Why bother arguing which is better when I can have both?

Because you don't want to spend gas on armories and upgrades that have little effect on your army's efficiency. In some cases you'd rather build more units instead.

In mech vs mech for instance, armor upgrades do basically nothing. Having more production is going to be more beneficial.

Thinking outside the box, I wonder what's in the box
