Ever wanted to play a massive FPS like Battlefield 3 set in the 14th/15th Centuries? Well, Paradox Interactive is making another game that styles very similarly to Mount & Blade but more oriented specifically towards online multiplayer combat.
War of the Roses is a new IP that transports players back in time to the battle-ravaged, dynastic civil war era of 15th century England where ownership of the throne of England was brutally fought over between supporters of two rival branches of the Royal House of Plantagenet - the house of Lancaster (the reds) and the house of York (the whites).
A team-based multiplayer melee combat experience, War of The Roses sees players and their band of knights going toe-to-toe with their opponents using authentic and visceral weapons of the time period including broad swords, long bows and battle-axes.
Built on a stunning graphics engine which vividly portrays the fighting from an up-close-and-personal third-person perspective, War of the Roses features both online multiplayer and a single-player campaign. Players will get the chance to lead their warrior through a rich progression system, gaining upgrades and unlocking new content on their path from filthy peasant to unstoppable armored killing machine.
This looks pretty cool, is there any information on when it will be released?

That looks pretty cool, bothers me a little how stiff the characters look in combat but I guess thats either something I need to get used to or something they might even change.
Wanted something like this for a long time but all the games on the market have just looked too poor to me but will definitely keep my eyes on this.

Oh wow. I'm really damn excited for this. I've dreamed about a game such as this since I was a kid. I really enjoy anything with swords, bows and me being able to stab someone in the face multiple times.
It looks awesome! I love relatively slower combat games such as these. And yes, definitely keeping an eye on this one. Customization looks really promising as well. Just really hope they don't add stupid stuff like imbalanced perks/killstreaks...

Definitely storing this in the memory banks. Medieval team battles? Friggin' epic! Will definitely have to see if it still is appealing once it reaches beta phase.

The idea of 64 multiplayer is really appealing, can have archery lines and formations etc... would be like Total War but we each control a character hahaha
I got a Mount & Blade vibe from it the moment I saw it, which can only be a good thing.
The number of choices in gear selection and customization also look very cool. I always thought medieval-ish skirmish games had a lot more potential than modern/firearm ones due to the melee-range dynamic.

Oh wow, totally looking forward to this! I loved Mount and Blade, and this is basically my favorite historical period.
I will certainly be following the development of this game!

I do not see anything that resembles TF2 in this game, I really cannot understand your comparison. Mount and Blade graphics aren't that great either and both games will be published by Paradox and we know how that game went.

Hmm cant wait for a beta to try this out. I never played mount and blade but I would be willing to learn, it looks very interesting. I like that archers are deadly but very hard to use.
