It's getting to the point though where the top guys are always winning but losing to equally skilled players. MKP has won 3 titles this year, consecutively, then placed 2nd. That's pretty convincing. He has only lost to DRG who I would say is te second best player in the world. The reason DRG and MKP are out of the GSL was just poor form on the day, you could tell they were out of shape and if they were playing their best, they most likely would advance. You could see their errors.

In any big sport/competition there is pretty much always the chance that a lesser player/team will beat a better one. SC2 and BW are in no way different from those, which I believe is a good thing. If it wasn't like that, tournaments would become obsolete.

I don't think theyre 2years behind as it is, I hardly think that getting to grips with sc2 will take more than a few months for the very best...
The new expansion should reduce the gap between players who played from the beginning and those who just started now.
The real question is: can the BW pros who thrive on amazing mechanics and execution adapt to a game were decision making is the most important thing by far. I mean when you look at the present SC2 scene a lot of players who do well have significantly worse mechanics than the newer player and still beat them easily. Except maybe for terran players.
I hope you aren't implying that decision making is more important in SC2 than it is in BW. Seems to be a common and incorrect theme among some.
I don't know why it's a common incorrect theme. Comparing SC2 to BW, SC2's mechanics are easier and thus players don't have to focus very often on micromanagement. This allows almost anyone to have amazing mechanics, and players will start focusing on other parts of the game, such as decision making skills.
And the decision makign is still fucking important in BW. just because in SC2 a retarded ape can have good mechanics doesnt mean the decisions are like 5000 times more important then in BW now.
I've never said that decision making skills aren't important in BW, if that's what you're trying to imply with that reply. I simply said that players in SC2 have to focus a lot more on decision making skills BECAUSE it is not that hard for people to achieve good mechanics in SC2. In BW, mechanics meant a lot and even if you make the right decisions, you can't win a game if you don't know how to micro units properly.
Which is why I was fishing for clarification as to whether he meant that mechanics as a percentage of overall ability is simply lower in SC2 or if he is saying that SC2 requires more thinking and decision making than Broodwar.

I meant that decision making is a bigger part of SC2 because the game is so damn easy mechanically. Nestea is pretty slow and his multitasking is not that great but he is among the best zerg in the world just because he has good decision making. SC2 is just an easier game both in mechanics AND in decision making since a lot of buids can be done blindly and are not hard to execute at all. But relatively speaking, decision making is a bigger part of the game.
I hope that BW players will bring the game to a higher level, i even hope they will make it as fun to watch as BW. But seeing how slow players keep on doing well in SC2, it might not be so easy...

Yes, there is always a chance. But in SC2 the chance is larger.
BTW a player who wins 70% of his games is actually about 85% to win a Bo3 and almost 97% to win a Bo5.

If someone mastered random they would be unbeatable. Not knowing the race you are up against is HUGE. Also note that playing random is not like playing all 3 races it should really be considered a "4th" race since you can get away with so much greed /agression early on and your opponent basically has to open standard. Flash is not bonjwa, he is god.
We don't really care about win-rates, if we did then Bisu would have been a bonjwa when he got three all-kills in a row and almost perfect proleague win record (1 loss in proleague?).
Flash is not that consistent unless he is in the grand finals, in which for some reason, he goes god mode and wins 3:0 with ridiculous timing attacks and balls of steel, he won his first OSL at 15. He is excellent with mind-games and strategy.
Just imagine Nestea being in every GSL for 2 years, with most of them being 4:0 4:1 stompings against top competition. That's what it felt like.
