No, this is bad even if he is town, which I think he is. I have to say I'm suspicious of your rationale there regarding framers; a DT role that is used erratically can be close to worthless and the point about framers is very weak.

Perhaps I've missed it, but I would hope that it's not announced in public who is appointed as the channelor and such. If it hasn't been said anywhere, and you didnt even consider the issue, you look quite bad.

So you're saying BM can never improve at playing mafia? If you look over his posts this game, he actually seems to be playing surprisingly coherently. I can make sense of most of his posts.

His ability to read players? Well, that is untested. I disagree that erratic is "close to worthless". If he keeps confirming town, then yeah, that's pointless, but I'd still prefer a townie BM to get a power role than a scummy someone who may or may not use it better. His ability as a cop is, imho, completely unproven.

I did take into account that the appointment might be secret. It has not been stated that that is so and I kinda assumed it would be made public, but if it is kept secret I think making it public is still good. I thought of keeping it a secret and masoning my chancellor in order to act as his mouth (would not even delay the check, because I could marry on D1). However, I decided that in this case, transparency is actually useful. I will be held accountable for my actions, including who I appoint as chancellor. It means that person becomes a target for shooting by scum, but if the empress does the same, there are 4 public power roles, which is not a pleasant situation for mafia (unless they control 1 or more of them).

BM isn't a new player and I'm not trying to downplay his mafia skills, but you clearly do not know him, so why are you claiming that his "ability to read players" is "untested"? You aren't even trying to approach the issue objectively. Transparency when it can only hurt town is ridiculously bad. I do not need to be transparent on the issue because I will never be lynched as town and will clear myself based on my play. I do not need to sacrifice key town roles to accomplish that.

Instead of saying that my plan is anti-town, please say what is anti-town about it. I clearly stated why I think publically announcing who is chancellor is a good idea.

I have a slightly expanded version of that, which I do NOT want publicized, because it's useful information to mafia and what I have said should be good enough. All you say is that you disagree. That is VERY useless, without saying why. An appeal to authority (oh mighty sandrogism) is dumb.

I CAN point out all the errors in appointing a chancellor in secret. Specifically if we're not sure the emperor is town, which, in your case, I'm not. A secret chancellor with a scum emperor allows scum to control 2 power roles in an absolute manner without even giving away who the scum chancellor is.

Transparency in the chancellor role puts pressure on scum if the emperor is town (as in my case) and allows less wriggle room if the emperor is scum. Your plan for secrecy is bad.

Confirming townies as the DT isn't a problem, the problem is confirming players who do not need to be confirmed, because they have already played towny. That is why having an "erratic" dt, as you say, is not good at all

Syllo, if you are elected please kill Mattchew, Mattchew isn't being any helpful, at this point he's only saying: "Him, him, and him maybe I will lynch if I get elected k?" He is not explaining his reads, this denies us more information about people (or potential lynch candidates).

I'm not sure if acrofales is mafia as I'm not quite seeing his mafia play elements here, but he is clearly proposing strategy that is not optimal. Some of the things he has said are suspicious, however.

And no, I don't need publicized power roles to prove my innocence. I WANT publicized power roles to put pressure on scum. This forces their hand and allows both me and the chancellor to act freely and independently of each other. It also allows the chancellor to check the emperor without needing to sluice that information through a mouth (which, if it was the emperor himself, would be pointless). I am not sure BM is the right choice, but the way this game is going, I have not seen a viable alternative. I had you in mind at first, but I am increasingly disliking your ideas about this game, and becoming unsure about your allegiance.

I would trust BM to not squander his cop power on that kind of stuff. And I disagree that confirming townies is ever useful. A red check is useful regardless of framers: because there are few reds, lynching a red check is almost always a good idea, thereby confirming the scum (or that there is a framer in the game). A green check is pointless because of framers/godfathers. "Confirming town" is thus never very useful.
